About Amalfi Ristorante Italiano

"Italy, it's closer than you think." Founded by Moe Sr. in 1977 Amalfi is a True Family Owned & Operated Restaurant. We are a very hands on family that take pride in doing all the work ourselves and strive to have the very best restaurant in town. Moe Jr. is the head chef, Johnny is the General Manager, Teresa hosts and overlooks the operation. Moe Sr. and Teresa started Amalfi in February 1977 when Moe Jr. was only two years old and Johnny hadn't even been born yet. Now over 40 years later the two sons are in control and have taken Amalfi to the next level. We have now upgraded all of our meats to all natural products from local farms. From free range chicken to milk fed veal, even our sausage is all natural. Almost all of our pasta is handmade on premises and we've gotten rid of practically all dishes made in batches so now our meals are made to order to ensure optimal freshness and quality. Come in and see why they say, "Once you visit Amalfi, you may never leave!"

Amalfi is a local fave. Been there many times, never had a bad meal. The wait staff is excellent--very attentive. The bread is fresh, butter is homemade as is the pasta and sauces, free range chicken is succulent. Salads are fresh and interesting. Portions are generous.

We are always pleased with our visit to this family owned establishment. The son/now owner always greets us with a smile and enthusiasm and the roasted red peppers, white pizza, Cesar salad and branzino never fail! The wine menu could use a revamp to better compliment the dishes served, but other than this we have zero complaints and will always come back!

What a great find! We found this restaurant on Yelp (4 stars, many reviews) and it didn't disappoint. We are new to the area and now we have a go-to for Italian! The pasta is homemade and fresh, and the tomato sauce is homemade too! Try the fennel salad and kale salad, really nice. The pasta al pomodoro is a must, the sauce is very authentic to Italy. I have also had the bacon carbonara special twice (with the made from scratch garganelli) and it never disappoints. Only one critique for the calamari, it was just okay, still acceptable but I wouldn't order it again, just because there are too many other good things on the menu...but everything else is awesome! Prices are reasonable and waitstaff are awesome! Go here!

I have been eating at Amalfi's for years and years. It had always been a favorite spot and the food and service was without question. The last couple of times, things have changed. This might be our final visit. I went Sunday evening with my daughter for a birthday dinner. We saw our waitress exactly 3 times. When she took our order, when she served our food, and when she brought the check. The whole ambiance was lacking. A guy at the next table had a fire department scanner blasting through the entire meal. The water glass was dirty, the table was small and cramped. The white pizza was delicious, but the veal parm was very thick and chewy. We felt really ignored the entire evening..to make it worse, the waiter who has been there forever (Michael?) was so friendly and outgoing with his table, I felt like we were intruding on a private party.

We have been eating at Amalfi's for at least 25 years and always find it wonderful--good food, great white pizza, warm reception and service and generally a relaxed enjoyable experience. It's one of our favorite "go to" restaurants for a nice night out!

Amalfi Ristorante Italiano (Amalfi's to us) is one of our favorite go-to places for an excellent Italian meal. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is consistently delicious and we always feel that we get good value for our money. Caesar salad is one of our favorites and Amalfi does a great job with that, but their other specialty salads are so fresh and tempting that I often skip the Caesar in favor of arugula with pears and almonds or one of their other unique choices. The ambience is homey and it is a great place for a casual meal.

MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ENTRANCE! Steps are uneven and very dangerous. This restaurant has been in same location for 30+ years. Don’t you think they could correct the terrible entrance. They don’t even have a rail or a handle. maybe they slipped under the handicapped laws but you would think they would want to accommodate physically challenged (handicapped) patrons and senior citizen - those over 50!

Unpretentious Southern Italian home-style comfort food in family-owned restaurant. Seafood pasta was a bit expensive but most dishes are appropriately priced. Friendly service and warm surroundings despite location in warehouse light-industrial area. A gem in Rockville.

I thought the food was ok nothing exceptional. The calamari and spadini were overcooked. The chicken parm is not breaded and consists of a piece of broiled chicken with sauce and cheese on it. The eggplant parm was tasty.

THE BEST!!! I've been to Italy many times and have dined at many top notch Italian restaurants around the world and Amalfi is the only place in or near Rockville that can be mentioned along with the greats. From the food to the service Amalfi is my all time favorite restaurant. With every smile you can tell how much the family truly cares about it's clientele. With locally farmed ingredients you can really taste the freshness. I've never had a bad meal in the forty years I've been eating here and absolutely love John. He is one of the kindest and most genuinely friendly person I've ever met in my life. If anything isn't to your satisfaction then just ask to speak to him and he'll make sure you leave happy. If only every place could be like Amalfi, the world would just be a happier place. Happy New Year Amalfi Family, thank you for the decades of excellence.

One of my favorite Italian dishes is Chicken Alfredo. I've tried it at so many different Italian restaurants and Amalfi does it better than anyone. And when I say better I mean it's in a league of it's own. The chicken isn't just a bunch of random pieces. It's a whole skin-on Chicken breast that is always so tender and juicy. The fettuccine is homemade and the Alfredo sauce is cooked to order. One bite and you'll agree that there is no matching the quality, quantity and flavor of Amalfi's Chicken Alfredo. No, seriously I can't express enough how consistently awesome this dish is at Amalfi. 5 stars, more like 500 stars!!! :)

It doesn't get any better than this place for delicious food, attentive service, and homey atmosphere!!

A long time favorite. Easy parking, Rockville location, owned/operated by the same warm, wonderful family for all of these years! Delicious home style Italian where they cater to your every need. As a Celiac sufferer they have dedicated fryers and work space. Being Gluten free for so long, I was able to splurge on specialties like fried calamari and eggplant parmigian. Thank You!!!

I have been to the restaurant a few times and was disappointed as the food was way too salty, sauce was too thick, etc. Gently suggest the owner try good Italian food elsewhere, including travelling to Italy to really get the real flavor of the food.
