We are pleased to offer you a traditional style dinning experience; where you may enjoy your food, wine and company un-rushed. We allot between 1-2 hours for you to enjoy each other in this experience. If you desire a quicker pace please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Though we love children, our restaurant isn't very Children Friendly. For those Children that are well behaved we will accommodate them the best we can.
Food and wine were very good and the service outstanding. However. We were seated next to 2 other couples and would have preferred to have a little space and privacy. There were very few customers so it wouldn’t have been an issue to spread the diners out a bit
Very good but limited options on the menu. Three courses offered, but courses 1 & 2 stay the same from day to day. Course 3 changes seasonally(?). Additional dessert course was also good. Aly greeted us and was a delightful person - very enthusiastic. Wine pairing was based on their private label wine, which was good but in Paso Robles there are many premium wineries that would offer more choices.
WHAT A GREAT EXPRIENCE AT ALY'S. THE CHEF REMAID THE POTATO APPETIZER BECAUSE OF BEING ALLERGIC TO GARIC. MY FILET MELTED IN MY MOUTH AS DID THE DUCK. GOTTA GO IF IN SOLVANG.
I was solo for Thanksgiving and ate at the second seating. Everything was impeccable, from the hospitality (everyone was handed a complimentary glass of champagne upon entering), to the set menu choices, to the food. I would love to eat at Aly's on a non-holiday and experience the full menu, and if I'm back in Solvang, I certainly will. Highly recommended. The owners were remarkably friendly and attentive and made me feel like a special guest.
We had a fantastic meal! The pace was relaxed, the staff friendly and attentive, and the food superb!
We ate a lovely appetizer - the crab trio. I'd recommend it and say it's a must try. Entrees: they were out of beans so Chili Relleno was only available with rice or mashed potatoes? (weird). On the chef's tasting menu, they substituted pork for Lamb at the same price. Whaaaa??? Being kind of "wined" out for the day we ordered iced tea for $5. Refills were another $5 each . . . which we did not know that until the bill came. Whaaaa? good food but not a value for the price.
We had an excellent meal for my husband’s birthday . He had the chef’s special menu. It was beautifully presented and great flavors. The service was great, Aly the owner was very friendly and made us feel like family. Her husband Richard is the chef and he came out to greet everyone as well. The ambience is like being in someone’s home and you are the invited guest. We enjoyed our entire evening.
The food was delicious and the staff was so friendly, even the chef came out to talk with us. Highly recommend this restaurant !
Wonderful food, excellent service; I highly recommend. We’ve been taking my dad to Aly’s for the last three years to celebrate his birthday. The attentive staff made his night very special.
There was a $35 minimum per person. We were offended since I wanted fish tacos that were not enough. Any a $15 split charge. Ridiculous!
We had been wanting to dine at Aly’s for some time but they were either booked or closed (I think they are open 3 or 4 nights). The atmosphere is quite nice, very cozy. The food is okay but nothing special and expensive for what you get. The wine by the glass is a very limited selection and what appears to be a small pour, my guess is about 5oz verses 6oz. They ‘nickel and dime’ you, for example they charge $3 or $4 dollars to refill the bread basket, a charge of 4% if you ask to split the check, split food items come with a charge, these are some examples. The service was fine but considering we were one of only three tables on a Friday night I would have expected it to be good. The prior evening we ate at the Ballard, a much better choice and for a lot less money.
They may have been a fine restaurant in the past but based on our one dining experience I would not return or recommend, you can do better.
Thanks to Richard and Aly for another outstanding dinner
The best Chef. Tasting Menu I have . I’from NY so we have the best restaurant in the country this is on the top 10 for sure. Do not miss !
Excellent dinner. Very creative and imaginative presentations. focus was on the quality of the dish and not filling up the plate. Portion sizes were perfect. Very good wine list, mostly local but.
Chef.Tasting with the wine pair it is a must have. The best !! My husband crab cake I don't have words to describe, MC Cheeses the best we ever had and for last the Filet Mignon my husband said he was in heaven.
Finally, a quiet restaurant were you could hear everyone at your table without shouting
Was pretty close to perfect.. food and service was spectacular! Only mistake was being seated next to a door that led to a bathroom outside which, there was a steady stream of diners walking by our table to exit the door, sometimes leaving the door open. They shoujd just get rid of the small table next to the door. :)
We did the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing. The wine pour for each course was brutally small, however the wine was not very good anyway. Three out of the four pairings were from the winery associated with the restaurant, and two of the pairings tasted forced rather than complementary to one another. I would have rather enjoyed a proper pairing from a more diverse silection of wineries vs. the limited selection we were offered. I appreciated the chef coming out to introduce himself but by then, we were already disappointed.
Our second visit to Aly's and we like it as well as the first time. Definitely one of our favorites in town. Charming proprietors/chef husband/wife team. Skillful preparation with great respect for fresh ingredients and flavors. Owners are friendly and genuine and will greet guests and answer any questions about wines and ingredients.
Came here on a Saturday night and it was completely dead because the restaurant has completely gone down. My scallops smelled quite off and in return I did not feel well that evening. Everything just seemed off, the food was not great. I was sadly let down
Simply underwhelming. The food is good but not special.
Great service and ambiance. Food was good, but, we did the feel that it was worth the price we paid.
I wanted a fine dining experience on my birthday and a place close to the theater for an 8pm show. Beautiful atmosphere and nice music. But nothing else was good. Bread basket disappointing, mini 16$ salad, blah. An hour and 15 minutes later my $20 cold crab cake! My uncle did love the scallops, though. There is a $35 minimum charge per person so beware. Will not recommend or return.
Awesome customer service , the food was delicious , the recommendations of wine to go with meal was great, would definatly go back
My girlfriend and I had a very nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Using open table app, the reservation was very easy; the restaurant even called a few hours before our reservation just to confirm. I let them know it was our anniversary and they arranged to have a rose put on our table for when we arrived. The restaurant was very clean and quiet; we had an excellent waiter who answered all of our questions and came by to check in on us but didn't over do it; very nice.
The dinner was very good, but the portions seemed a little too small for the price. we had a mac and cheese with lobster that was very good and we each ordered a filet mignon that came with green beans and mashed potatoes in a fondue sauce.
Again, the food, service, and presentation were all great. I was just a little let down by the portions and lack of salad with our entree. the bread bowl was only two slices and the menu had bread bowl refills for $5. I understand that this is a small restaurant, we still enjoyed the food and overall had a very nice dinner.
Enjoyed. The coziness of the restaurant, the unobtrusive service, excellent food preparation. Would definitely recommend it!! Thank you for the wonderful dinner!
So completely wonderful. The food was perfect, so tasty. Great service, lovely atmosphere. Excellent in every way.
Had a wonderful dinner at Aly's prior to going to the Solvang Theaterfest across the street. We both had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings and it was excellent. Beautifully decorated, small and quiet, great service. Richard, chef and co-owner, spent time at our table describing the dishes and sharing his route to this restaurant. Good story. Highly recommend trying Aly's.
We were coming up for the weekend and wanted to have a plan for dinner.Found this little gem of a restaurant on Yelp and we were very pleased. We ordered the Aly's Salad and Roasted Tomato Soup for starters, both were very good. The bread basket had a very yummy bread with Rosemary in it. I ordered the Filet medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Scallops and said they were great. Portions were just the right size. Our server was attentive, while also letting us take our time with our meal. The House Wine was good we tried both the Pinot Noir and the Cabernet Franc but for $15 a glass the pour could have been bigger. If you want a nice upscale dinner, I recommend Aly's.
Excellent creative food with an elegant ambiance surrounding. The chef and his staff are remarkable. You won't be disappointed!
We had the chef’s menu with wine pairing and enjoyed it completely. Wonderful experience and great value. Definitely worth the visit.
It was one of the best dining experience I have ever had, my wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary everything was so special. Can’t wait to come back!
If you decide to eat here, allow plenty of time. The service is very slow ( restaurant was 1/4 full). My wife’s crab cake and then scallops were very good. My lobster macaroni was delicious. The salmon, however, was less than good; dry and very fishy. We were there 2 hours...good thing we weren’t in a hurry.
Our dinner was superb in every way. We split the house salad which offered our first clue as to the quality. Delicate fresh micro-greens with the sweetest tiny cherry tomatoes and the light orange citrus dressing. Wish I had asked Chef Richard Bruce for his recipe! For our entrees, we had fish tacos and wild salmon. The 3 street tacos featured 2 grilled seabass and 1 grilled salmon with crisp greens and salsa. The salmon was served with the crispy skin on over delicious risotto accompanied by heirloom carrots and broccolini. The music is a wonderful part of the experience and we found ourselves spontaneously dancing while waiting for our entrees to arrive. Dessert was creme brulee -- the perfect ending to a sublime dinner. We will return to Solvang just to visit Aly's again. Thank you!
The best food !! Chef’s tasting with the wine are the best!!!
I’ll be back for more !!
the sea bass was raw. I switched it for the salmon..
i then received a tiny piece of salmon overdone w a tiny bit of rice :(. i also put that it was a birthday and they did nothing. pretty place though
We love Aly's!
Food is always so good and the service is wonderful.
I plan my trip to Solvang around Aly's restaurant schedule! The food is always amazing and the service is wornderful! Try their chef's menu and wine pairing! Always great and a good value!
Absolutely a must when in Solvang, CA. Intimate dining with just a few tables and the chef checks on every table periodically. Food was fantastic!
loved the restaurent aly’s made you feel like family. we enjoyed it so much we went back there before leaving. it will be one of our regular stops when in solvang
Great food. Great service. Would do it all again and again and again.
Chosen after reading reviews, all were spot on. Exceptional service, gave us samples of wine before ordering bottle. We both selected our meals and asked the chef to surprise us. Food was amazing, added a few personal things he chose and WOW.
A great choice !!
