a.Lure Savannah Ratings and Reviews
Visited on NYE and had a late reservation to bring in the New Year. Bar service was excellent. However once seated we had a very poor experience. First they were completely out of all 3 specials. In addition to running out of two of there standard dinner menu items. This was very disappointing, and shows the venue was not prepared for a busy evening. Rabbit app was very good, but the other apps we ordered were ok at best. Steak was extremely over cooked after ordering the steak medium rare. The second steak came out raw, cold center, could not even consider it rare. Overall a very poor experience.
After seeing that both Elizabeth on 37th and the Olde Pink House were booked full, my girl friend and I "settled" for New Year's Eve dinner at a.Lure. How pleasantly surprised were we to learn that we'd stumbled onto the best of the three! Service was perfect. Quick, friendly, but not hovering. When we needed our waiter, he was right there. It was like he knew. When we didn't, he wasn't. Not intrusive at all. And the food. THE FOOD! Magic with sauces!! Do yourself a favor. Give a.Lure a try!!
Order the roasted garlic appetizer, ask for more grilled bread and goat cheese. It is AMAZING.
For dinner, my guest had the deconstructed low country boil -- very very good, not your typical bowl of butter and broth. More modern and gourmet. I ordered the rabbit pasta appetizer as an entree. Its like an open faced lasagna -- thyme cream sauce, butternut squash, absolutely delicious.
For dessert, we ordered the frozen goat cheese souffle. Wow, custard filled, subtle fruit, not too sweet, really spectacular presentation.
The food was great and the portions were adequate. The low country boil was good and the meatloaf was delicious. But there were 2 highlights of the night - our waiter John Earl, who elevated the entire dining experience with his big-hearted laughs and personality, as well as the braised rabbit 'open ravioli', which was sublime!
Was sat near door which caused a very drafty experience since it was cold outside. Asked to be moved and was three tables down from original still in the breezeway. Sent entree back to have scallops caramelized more and the refired the whole dish over. Accommodating to my likeness.
We made reservations for Christmas Eve and arrived about 15 minutes early. The hostess was extremely apologetic about not being able to seat us, but we assured her that it was absolutely no problem because we were early. We were seated exactly on time. The restaurant was extremely busy, but our waiter was polite, professional and attentive even though he had numerous tables to attend to and there was a constant buzz of activity throughout the restaurant. The food was delicious - my husband had the shrimp and grits and I had the peas and carrots scallops. Both were very creatively presented and arrived at the perfect temperature. As noted by other diners, this is a crowded restaurant and the tables are very close together. The noise level is not extremely high, but it is "cozy" dining. A side note: we generally do not expect a restaurant to be 100% on top of its game on a busy holiday evening; especially an evening when many area restaurants are closed. However, a.Lure proved us wrong and we had a very enjoyable and delicious meal. Kudos the entire staff from the front to the back of the house!
Waitstaff staff was amazing. My husband and i were seated in a very quiet back room with a party of eleven who were a quiet group. We felt cut off from the ambiance and sights of the restaurant. We chose A.Lure because of the great reviews- for our only night in Savannah we would have preferred a little more action of the main dining area. The highlights of our meal included the coleslaw that comes with the duck- and the cheese platter. The low lights of the meal was The duck was very raw (not medium like the chef recommends) and my Dirty martini came with no olives.
Some of the best food I have ever had with great service to match. I highly recommend following the waiter's advice on selections and be open to trying new things. The Rabbit Ravioli was superb and tasted heavenly like nothing I've ever had before and the goat cheese dessert was life changing. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Amazing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first meal here. The wine and food were excellent. We ordered fish and duck, and both were great. The ambiance is nice, very quiet, though we ate on a Thursday- perhaps the weekends are busier. The waitress made recommendations for other activities we might like during our stay. Parking was difficult...
The Food is out of this world!!!! The Catch of the Day was Swordfish stake it was perfect. the wait staff were vary helpful in dinner section and wine/beer parings. only down side is next to no street parking, tho there is a parking lot only 2 blocks over so not that far of a walk.
Our entrees were excellent, let me say that, but I was disappointed at the $10 hush puppies that had a strong smell and taste of fish (definitely fried in the same fryer). Our waiter was a bit condescending to us and to the people at the table beside us as well. The space is small and we consistently smelled cigarette smoke coming from outside. I had been really looking forward to this meal but it fell short.
Outstanding three courses: lamb carpaccio with blue cheese ice cream and shallot pure/reduction, shrimp with grits and adoulie sausage and pecan pie a’la mode... best three courses I have had in years. Wonderfully attentive and enthusiastic staff - great suggestions!!! Loved it, a truly memorable meal.
Our dinner at a.Lure on 12/4/17 was the highlight of our trip to Savannah. Our server was funny and entertaining, as well as extremely knowledgable on food and wine. I was especially impressed with the Bordeaux blanc he recommended.
When given the choice of so many restaurant options, I'm so glad we decided on a. Lure. I highly recommend it for foodies.
Service was good, except waitress brought red wine glasses for us to use with a bottle of champagne. We asked for the appropriate glasses she brought them. Servers seem to be very conscientious.
The smell of bleach lingers in the air, which isn't pleasant while you eat. We had the blue cheese fondue chips, which were delicious. Two of us had the soup and sandwich combo. Soup was just warm and the sandwich small, but delicious. My friend had the Caesar salad, which was iceberg lettuce instead of romaine and a little droopy. We waited outside for a pedicab and the people walking by made is a little nervous. We always try a place twice, so we will try again.
The waitress was a little pushy and the food did not live up to expectations. except the "Braised Rabbit Open Ravioli" which was superb. My wife's pork shank was good but the meatloaf was terribly over rated by our server. I should have had my delicious appetizer and dessert instead. Good but no WOW factor. Somewhat disappointing anniversary dinner.
Amazing food, cozy ambiance, and excellent service. I can't say enough good things about our server, Mackenzie. She was sweet, attentive, and well-educated on the menu. I especially appreciated how charismatic she was towards us being on a time-crunch for the ballet after dealing with Christmas parade traffic. Fried green tomatoes and crab cakes were excellent starters. Both our entrees, the pork shank and duck, were absolutely delicious.
We celebrated our granddaughter's college graduation at a.Lure. Absolutely the best food we've had at any Savannah restaurant. We each had a 4 course meal and everything from the appetizer down to dessert was wonderful. We had a wonderful time. Will come back.
