Alto Ristorante e Bar
Book your next event with us
It was quite chilly in dining area. It would have been nice if I preferred the head and the tail of the fish removed before it was brought to the table. We all were grossed out by my dish presentation. The waitress was superb!
Waiter forgot appetizer. Wait for food seemed long. Portions seemed small for amount I paid.
I brought my wife here to celebrate her birthday and might I say what a beautiful evening we had. Laura sat us next to the outdoor fire, we stayed nice and warm on the chilly evening. Our server took excellent care of us, he answered all of our questions and also suggested the best appetizer on the menu. My wife is pregnant and was not able to drink so the bartender made her a mock-tail to celebrate in style. The food was amazing everything was cooked to perfection and the flavors were impeccable. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better the pasty made a special desert just for my wife to make her birthday perfectly sweet. Included with dinner was a complimentary gondola ride on the water ways of the hotel grounds. On the water with a warm blanket on our laps and candles to set the mood the gondolier sang romantic Italian love songs as we slowly glided across the water under the stars. Alot Ristorante e Bar over exceeded my expectations in every way. We had a beautifully romantic night and will be back again! Thank you!
Christoph is the best waiter I have ever had.
Everything was perfect! Food was amazing and service was amazing.
Excellent food and staff. Took my wife for our 5 year anniversary and they took great care of us. The gondola rides make the rest of the night perfect
Everything was great but we were in a side room close to bar, not really a nice room & bar was noisy so it was a less desirable location.
Our server was very delightful. He was knowledgeable of his craft involving Italian food and you could tell. My dish was wonderful and it ended with a romantic gondola ride. The portion size of our food with pretty small; so, if you’re a larger person requiring a full sized mean, I’d suggest two plates lol. It was pretty pricey but the quality ingredients is what you’re paying for, and you can tell the difference!
Disappointing setting..thought it was upscale from website, but just a normal hotel restaurant
Great experience once we found the restaurant. The map in Open Table takes you out of the hotel about 2/10 of a mile to an intersection where there is no restaurant. The restaurant is actually in the hotel! Was a nice walk before dinner though.
Looking for a high end restaurant to celebrate my mom’s 81st birthday. Disappointed on a number of fronts:
Asked for a round table for five. They gave us a table. Half of us in chairs that were a good six inch taller than the built in benches for the other half. It turned out to be awkward, particularly as people changed seats to talk to others in the party. Everyone commented on the differece in heights, Very distracting.
Menu did not have a tremendously broad selection, and the actual menu was different than the one posted on the open table site. My parents ended up ordering the soup from one of the alternative restaurants at the hotel since there waswas only one soup option and one salad option without dairy and five entree selections.
My father and I wanted the Venison Ossa Bucca (sounded great). They were out of the selection, and replaced with “Short Ribs Ossa Bucca.” Even when delivering the Ossa Bucca they referred to is as Venison not Short Ribs Ossa Bucca, Didn’t charge us any less for the substitution. Not sure there is really is such as thing as Short Ribs Ossa Bucca.
Also, I think the waiter could have done a better job in understanding the preparation of each entree. In the end, it felt as thought the chef was trying to “justify” the higher prices with unusual words/ingredients that just didn’t live up to hype.
Minor issue, but they kind of screwed up the delivery of the soups and salads to the table. They were supposed to split the soups and salads for us in back. Thy brought extra soups and salads (which was great) but one of us was waiting for their soup to be delivered from the other restaurant while the rest of the party was dining, awkward.
Craft drinks were good.
Overall, I thought an upscale restaurant (or at least an upscale priced restaurant) should have done a better job. Too bad.
Food was outstanding. Started with the grilled octopus that was very tender and perfectly cooked. Gluten free bread and regular bread was brought to the table. Chef also made a gluten free gnocchi that was to die for. My only complaint was that I wish there were more. There were only 10 pieces with the duck. Two pieces of duck with the meal. One was perfectly cooked the other on the bone was a little in the dry side. Linguini with clams were great as was the steak. Wine list was very good as well.
Great good and great service. Our water was never empty and they are attentive. Would go back again.
Fabulous atmosphere and great service!
It is quite pricey for my budget, getting the specials of the night and a bottle of wine, but I chose to splurge for a special event.
The steak was divine! My swordfish was a bit dry. Loved the desert. Loved the gondola ride.
Our server, Richard was awesome! He was kind enough to give complimentary dessert & free gondola passes to celebrate a birthday!
Our waiter, Christoph, was incredible. Extremely knowledgeable about wines and willing to explain and describe various aspects in detail.
The manager, Laura, was able to accommodate us when we made a mistake in our reservation and were unable to be contacted (due to me, not due to their lack of trying).
Highly recommended this restaurant. We will definitely return.
Food is good, disappointed that the gondola ride isn't free anymore.
Fabulous food. Inventive flavors. Attentive staff that's very knowledgable. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good meal.
Very impressed with everything!
I had dinner at Alto three years ago and returned three times on my most recent visit. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service wonderful, server knowledge of the menu and attentiveness was superb.
This restaurant is good, but not special for a fine dining restaurant in the valley. The best part is the gondolino dessert and the complimentary gondola ride afterwards.
Service was sufficient, but not great. Food was lacking all around. I ordered the seafood special which ended up being seared tuna bathing in a deep well of broth - basically seared tuna soup, not appetizing. My dining companion had the duck, which was not properly rendered. The portions are ridiculously small for the price. We did have some delicious wine - at $15+ per glass, I would hope so. We were only able to sit outside, although there were plenty of tables inside. The outside seating has uncomfortable pool patio chairs and we were serenaded by a blaring child's movie from the pool. Overall, really disappointing, especially for the price.
Very friendly staff and impeccable service. The food was exquisite and tasty; best grilled artichokes I've ever had. I was intrigued that ingredients are from local farms.
Excellent service, tremendous staff, great food, and beautiful property. I highly recommend and we'll be back!
Put us at table by outside door, I asked "no one goes in and out of this door?" Was told no that was not the case had to ask the other server to stop doing it. Our server was good but overall I would not go back. The food was just ok not great and was over priced for what we got. Maybe it was just too busy? Plus when you first walk into it there was a slight smell, not at our table.
Hotel is amazing but the wait staff unfortunately was short handed so dinner was not served until 2 hours after being seated as a party of 10. Food was good but not the level I would expect based on price and resort location. Drinks were slow and waited for the check an additional 10 minutes. Has a table reserved in bar for after but we were so late they gave it away so we had to sit out in the heat even though we had meticulously planned ahead for a 20th anniversary surprise.
This was the perfect place for my fiancé and I to celebrate our engagement! I special requested pink flowers on our table and the staff made sure they were there, staying in constant contact with me to make it happen. It was an expensive meal, but we knew that coming into it, and everything tasted perfect. Casual atmosphere with fancy food. Great wait staff as well—Whitney was on top of it!
They sat us next to a table of sixteen in the small room. Very noisy and it spoiled our Anniversary dinner.
Hits and Miss
Some of the dishes were excellent while others were just terrible. Memorial day weekend so the hotel was inundated with too many people! Lots of families. Service was very slow and jumbled. Took 20 minutes just to get a cocktail to our table.
The redeeming factor of the gondola ride at the end of the dinner which is an interesting experience in the middle of the desert.
I enjoyed dinner with several clients at Alto's during a conference. The service was impeccable with special attention to detail for special requests. Drinks prepared by the bartender were perfect and the Gondolino Creme Brulee desserts were fabulous, complete with a cookie gondola coated on the bottom in chocolate with a chocolate oar. Highly recommend this venue if you're trying to impress your clients. Mine were delighted. Each attendee received a free gondolo ride after dinner!
Not as we remembered. It has been some time since we visited Altos, 15 plus years...We remember the singing waiters which we really used to enjoy... This no longer exists. Service was fine and the patio seating was very nice. Food was good but nothing amazing, and the potions were very small. We were still looking forward to the gondola ride. unfortunately this to was not as we remembered, the ride used to take you though the water pathways back through the neighbor, with a glass of wine, cheese and crackers....Now its a 5 minute ride around the resort pool...
Not the best place if you are disabled (wheelchair). Waitress was nice. View was nice. Dinner was a little bland. Mheh.
Our waitress Whitney was amazing! Very attentive and informative! The food for the value was outstanding and we will be definitely coming back!
Birthday celebration was a success. Thank you
The waiter was helpful and attentive. The food was awful. Some of it was undercooked and flavorless. We had to ask the waiter for salt and pepper to just add some flavor. We will not go back. For that price, the food should be spectacular
My husband and I have been here over a year ago february and enjoyed it then, we went because we had family in town and thought we should try it again. We had a beautiful table outside and the setting is very nice, my only complaint is the swimming pool is right next to the patio and there were tons of kids and families, I suppose on spring break and from out of town. The food was fantastic and a beautiful presentation and we had dessert this time which was amazing! I would most definatly recommend going to this restaraunt, you do need reservations. I forgot to mention, with dinner you get tickets for a free gondola ride which is just awesome, the gondalier was entertaining and sang just beautifully. Our visiting family were just impressed and had a wonderdul time.
The surrounds of the restaurants is OK, but the food is horrible.
For starters, i ordered the calamari, and it came out very chewy with no flavor at all! Then for the main course, I ordered the Italian sausage, as my wife ordered the chicken, both were EXTREMELY bland, and the chicken was even dry!
I suspect a restaurant that has been around for a while, and has a name four it’s self, should know what they are doing.
I will NEVER come back, or recommend this horrible restaurant to anyone!!!
Great server Christoph
The food and atmosphere we wonderful. I would recommend it highly and it as well worth the cost
