Fabulous atmosphere and great service!
It is quite pricey for my budget, getting the specials of the night and a bottle of wine, but I chose to splurge for a special event.
The steak was divine! My swordfish was a bit dry. Loved the desert. Loved the gondola ride.
Our server, Richard was awesome! He was kind enough to give complimentary dessert & free gondola passes to celebrate a birthday!
Our waiter, Christoph, was incredible. Extremely knowledgeable about wines and willing to explain and describe various aspects in detail.
The manager, Laura, was able to accommodate us when we made a mistake in our reservation and were unable to be contacted (due to me, not due to their lack of trying).
Highly recommended this restaurant. We will definitely return.
Food is good, disappointed that the gondola ride isn't free anymore.
Fabulous food. Inventive flavors. Attentive staff that's very knowledgable. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good meal.
Very impressed with everything!
I had dinner at Alto three years ago and returned three times on my most recent visit. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service wonderful, server knowledge of the menu and attentiveness was superb.
This restaurant is good, but not special for a fine dining restaurant in the valley. The best part is the gondolino dessert and the complimentary gondola ride afterwards.
Service was sufficient, but not great. Food was lacking all around. I ordered the seafood special which ended up being seared tuna bathing in a deep well of broth - basically seared tuna soup, not appetizing. My dining companion had the duck, which was not properly rendered. The portions are ridiculously small for the price. We did have some delicious wine - at $15+ per glass, I would hope so. We were only able to sit outside, although there were plenty of tables inside. The outside seating has uncomfortable pool patio chairs and we were serenaded by a blaring child's movie from the pool. Overall, really disappointing, especially for the price.
Very friendly staff and impeccable service. The food was exquisite and tasty; best grilled artichokes I've ever had. I was intrigued that ingredients are from local farms.
Excellent service, tremendous staff, great food, and beautiful property. I highly recommend and we'll be back!
Put us at table by outside door, I asked "no one goes in and out of this door?" Was told no that was not the case had to ask the other server to stop doing it. Our server was good but overall I would not go back. The food was just ok not great and was over priced for what we got. Maybe it was just too busy? Plus when you first walk into it there was a slight smell, not at our table.
Hotel is amazing but the wait staff unfortunately was short handed so dinner was not served until 2 hours after being seated as a party of 10. Food was good but not the level I would expect based on price and resort location. Drinks were slow and waited for the check an additional 10 minutes. Has a table reserved in bar for after but we were so late they gave it away so we had to sit out in the heat even though we had meticulously planned ahead for a 20th anniversary surprise.
This was the perfect place for my fiancé and I to celebrate our engagement! I special requested pink flowers on our table and the staff made sure they were there, staying in constant contact with me to make it happen. It was an expensive meal, but we knew that coming into it, and everything tasted perfect. Casual atmosphere with fancy food. Great wait staff as well—Whitney was on top of it!
They sat us next to a table of sixteen in the small room. Very noisy and it spoiled our Anniversary dinner.
Hits and Miss
Some of the dishes were excellent while others were just terrible. Memorial day weekend so the hotel was inundated with too many people! Lots of families. Service was very slow and jumbled. Took 20 minutes just to get a cocktail to our table.
The redeeming factor of the gondola ride at the end of the dinner which is an interesting experience in the middle of the desert.
I enjoyed dinner with several clients at Alto's during a conference. The service was impeccable with special attention to detail for special requests. Drinks prepared by the bartender were perfect and the Gondolino Creme Brulee desserts were fabulous, complete with a cookie gondola coated on the bottom in chocolate with a chocolate oar. Highly recommend this venue if you're trying to impress your clients. Mine were delighted. Each attendee received a free gondolo ride after dinner!
Not as we remembered. It has been some time since we visited Altos, 15 plus years...We remember the singing waiters which we really used to enjoy... This no longer exists. Service was fine and the patio seating was very nice. Food was good but nothing amazing, and the potions were very small. We were still looking forward to the gondola ride. unfortunately this to was not as we remembered, the ride used to take you though the water pathways back through the neighbor, with a glass of wine, cheese and crackers....Now its a 5 minute ride around the resort pool...
Not the best place if you are disabled (wheelchair). Waitress was nice. View was nice. Dinner was a little bland. Mheh.
Our waitress Whitney was amazing! Very attentive and informative! The food for the value was outstanding and we will be definitely coming back!
Birthday celebration was a success. Thank you
The waiter was helpful and attentive. The food was awful. Some of it was undercooked and flavorless. We had to ask the waiter for salt and pepper to just add some flavor. We will not go back. For that price, the food should be spectacular
My husband and I have been here over a year ago february and enjoyed it then, we went because we had family in town and thought we should try it again. We had a beautiful table outside and the setting is very nice, my only complaint is the swimming pool is right next to the patio and there were tons of kids and families, I suppose on spring break and from out of town. The food was fantastic and a beautiful presentation and we had dessert this time which was amazing! I would most definatly recommend going to this restaraunt, you do need reservations. I forgot to mention, with dinner you get tickets for a free gondola ride which is just awesome, the gondalier was entertaining and sang just beautifully. Our visiting family were just impressed and had a wonderdul time.
The surrounds of the restaurants is OK, but the food is horrible.
For starters, i ordered the calamari, and it came out very chewy with no flavor at all! Then for the main course, I ordered the Italian sausage, as my wife ordered the chicken, both were EXTREMELY bland, and the chicken was even dry!
I suspect a restaurant that has been around for a while, and has a name four it’s self, should know what they are doing.
I will NEVER come back, or recommend this horrible restaurant to anyone!!!
Great server Christoph
The food and atmosphere we wonderful. I would recommend it highly and it as well worth the cost
Returned fish special twice ... it was undercooked and horrible
this place that is located in the Hyatt hotel is surprisingly good great service (it was almost empty0 and interesting food. Ibeleive this used to be Hyatt,s italina restaurant and it has improved j
food was good and atmosphere was nice. Only issue with the whole experience was the restaurant was understaffed and we waited 30+ minutes for our table when we had a reservation. I would go again with the hope that they properly staff the restaurant
Fantastic food and very hard Cardinals
Nice venue. Good food, drinks, and service. They give you gondola passes for the resort at the end of the meal.
The service was awful, and this wasn't just out table but every table around us. It took 45 minutes just to get our first drink on the table. Other people actually left the restaurant during our meal because it was so bad. We stayed in AZ for five days, choosing different restaurants for lunch and dinner every day, and this was by far the worse meal on our stay.
The restaurant was perfect for Valentine's Day dinner. Our server was most attentive. We enjoyed the meal and the ambiance.
Incredible! Even let us come back after walking around for a free dessert!
Amazing food and service, incredible wine. The gondola ride was a great ending. Went for surprise 16th wedding anniversary. Wife was completely surprised and the staff even allowed me purchase flowers that were at the table when we arrived. 5star !
We started with the bruschetta that was very well seasoned. We had the spinach salad which was good but it's a salad. Our main courses were pappardelle and black pepper linguini. Our waiter suggested adding shrimp to it(Linguini), great suggestion by Robert. We both thought the pappardelle was slightly the better meal. That was because of the sauce but the shrimp was the best part of both meals. I was impressed the chef makes the pasta daily, you can tell. For dessert we shared the gondolino, we are both big crème brûlée fans and putting the fruit in a gondola shape display was a nice touch. The shrimp was our favorite followed by the gondolino then the bruschetta. My only negative thought was the portion sizes were small for the cost of the meal. But, we did get a gondola ride out of it, too. All and all, not bad.
I had read the service was poor from past reviews, we found just the opposite with Robert and Louis.
The gondola ride was very nice but a little short to fully enjoy it. I would recommend both the restaurant and gondola ride for a very romantic evening. Just avoid valentine day itself for the ride, they double up couple in the gondola which will lessen the mood it was intended for.
Our whole experience was so memorable and lovely! Thank you to the servers and the chef. What a romantic dinner ended with a gondola ride as the moon was rising! Spectacular! Next time we plan to make it an overnight stay!
A very limited menu; service was poor; yet the restaurant was barely attended, and we had to wait forever between each course and for our bill. The butternut squash soup was very good as well as the Arancini. Three of us had the chicken entrée and none of us really thought it was worth the high price. The Pappardelle was very good. The cappuccino was poor. Overall, a poor rating for such a highly recommended restaurant where are expectations were obviously too high.
Service and meal choices were perfect
Pasta was very good. Cod was very small and swirl of purée and leaf of arugula. Steak was good but no potato option and only 4 Brussels sprouts. Shared calamari was delicious but small as were the salami and 2 pieces of cheese. If the portions were bigger the experience would be better.
