Octopus and meatballs apps were pretty good. Fresh pasta is a bonus. Servers had pride in their work, which made a positive difference
Came here for our anniversary in August and if was amazing, I couldn't wait to come back. We walked in and were told by the way our menu has changed.
This menu was not very good. Bruschetta was great as always but meal felt like leftovers tossed in a bowl and charged $35 for. It was not good. Very disappointed.
Great service and great food - would definitely return
This is always a great choice at Gainey Ranch...food is phenomenal and service perfect....thoroughly enjoyable...and the gondola ride after so much fun!
The food was awesome but overpriced based on portion size
Proposed, she said yes. Alto was exquisite and the Gondola made it easy to take a knee in an unexpected place. Ambiance was wonderful. Thank you all, for real, each staff member from the bar to those in the wrong restaurant I wandered into made it a priority to assist. A night we will never forget.
Beautiful atmosphere... truly terrible food! Even if it was priced like a food court meal, I wouldn’t return to eat there. $200 + for 2 adults and a child, and we left hungry and disappointed. Try another spot for italian. Even my pizza loving daughter wouldn’t eat her cheese pizza it was so awful.
We had an awesome time, the service was outstanding...
The food was excellent--it was my companion's birthday and the dessert was much enjoyed. We also enjoyed the gondola rid. Thanks to all.
Prawns were chewy... 3 Prawns... 3. I am a grown man with an appetite and this was a joke of a portion.
They were like rubber.
Glass of wine tipped over and waiter did not offer to replace or help clean up???
Ordered a Margarita to find they used a small, very small martini glass.. Seriously for the price had 4 sips and it was gone. Live and learn...
I have been here several times over many years and this was not like it used to be, especially the food.
Really enjoyed the food and service. We had a very enjoyable dinner and this was an excellent value.
Awesome place to have dinner , had a great time with my girlfriend for out anniversary. Our waiter was awesome as well . I wouldn't have choose a better place. Thank you
I've been here a few times in the past and I've never been let down. The food is amazing and they servers are very knowledgeable. Not to mention, the gondola ride afterwards is such a unique experience. I would 100% recommend this place.
Delicious meal great service just the right special treat as we near the end of our vacation!
Our waiter was outstanding!!
Our waiter Steige was the best part, he was so nice and helpful, 10/10 would come again
Great Octopus... Tender and delicious..served with a tangy, creamy sauce... Very nice cheese and meat board.....
Very enjoyable family dinner and excellent price.
My wife and I recently dined at Alto. It was something of a special occasion as twenty years earlier, we met in the lobby bar while listening to a flamenco guitarist by the name of Esteban. She suggested we have dinner in Alto, so I made a reservation. We were seated promptly and had a nice table overlooking the patio. Our server was prompt and took our drink and appetizer order. We shared a Burrata Bruschetta which was delicious and the perfect size to share. For our entrees, my wife had the Prawns while I had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. The prawns came with a healthy portion of lemon risotto and my wife seem to enjoy the dish. My pasta was just OK in my view. The pasta was well prepared, but the bolognese was not, at least to me, a traditional bolognese. Since my wife is first generation Italian, I have had lots of bolognese, both home cooked and in other Italian restaurants. This one just didn’t do it for me. I also noticed that there were lots of chunks of carrots in the sauce. Now I know that carrots are supposed to be in there to give some sweetness, but they are supposed be very finely chopped. It also did not seem to have very much flavor. Also, I was very surprised there were no veal dishes on the menu at all. For the Yelpers out there...be informed that the menu for this restaurant on Yelp is not current. Open Table’s menu for the restaurant is accurate. All in all, there are many better restaurants in Scottsdale if you are looking for Italian food. I will say it was a pretty decent value for the price and the Family Style Pasta Dinner special looks like the way to go for a family with a couple of kids.
The Ambiance was amazing. I don't think there was a rating high enough for our server Steven, the service was amazing! To follow up dinner with a nice anniversary Cruise in a gondola really topped it off. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection, and was matched by its presentation. I would recommend this restaurant to any one
What a great place for a Saturday night date night! From the attentive staff to the delicious food, you can't ask for a better experience at a reasonable price.
Christoph was great. Super patient and timely and made great suggestions.
My boyfriend and I came to Alto for dinner during our Anniversary Vacation in Scottsdale. Our waiter Wade was awesome ! My boyfriend has a gluten sensitivity and normally most Italian restaurant don't carry gluten free pasta. Not only did Alto have gluten free pasta but also gluten free bread. My boyfriend was in heaven. The food was delicious ! They went above and beyond to make us feel special. We also we given two complimentary tickets for a gondola ride under the moonlight while having Marcus sing to us in Italian. This was a highlight to our trip !
Steig was a great server. Good wine. Good meal. The prawns were awesome. The dessert was on point!
Excellent service by Steig and outstanding food. Appreciated the free gondola ride passes for the family.
Great service, Food was a disappointment. I likely won’t eat here again
The food, atmosphere, and service exceeded all expectation.
Trying to hard to be some kind of gourmet destination. Minimal choices, all over seasoned and certainly not Italian. If you begged someone in your table group to “share” you could access actual pasta and traditional sauces. What a disappointment, just not that good.
My linguine tasted like it was left over. The noodles were clumped together like day old pasta. My husband and daughter liked their meals however. Service was very nice but took quite a long time to get our meals when it was not even crowded. I overheard other patrons complaining about it taking a long time to get their meals as well. For the price I would expect better quality and more timely service. The complimentary gondola ride was the absolute best part!
Great food and service! Would have given five stars, but birds (blackbirds, ducks, etc) were constant visitors to our patio table. A blackbird even landed on our table and dipped his beak in our butter! Would have sat inside, but it was freezing.
This restaurant was one of our favorites. We have been coming to Alto's for years and they are creative, outstanding meals and attentive. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and took action to make it work out. Something in the Kitchen went very wrong. I'll just say that we'll give Alto's another chance since over the years we experienced many meals with creativity for some of the best Italian dining in the valley.
Fantastic ambience and service. Food was good not fantastic. Ordered charcuterie board (great), chef salads (good), bolognese pasta (good), chicken penne white sauce (tasty), and dessert.
My wife and I love Alto. The place has a consistency about their food and service that we greatly enjoy. We’re no strangers to fine dining, and Alto certainly beats many upscale places. If you are looking for a relaxed date night, you really can’t get much better - especially for the gondola ride. Thanks for a great date, will definitely return soon!
Very nice meal at Alto during our stay at the Hyatt Regency. Very stark ambience, but nice outside patio to dine.
Dinner included a Field Green Salad, Panzanella Salad, Gnocchi with Mushrooms, Pesto and Ricotta and Sautéed Prawns with Lemon Risotto. All dishes were presented beautifully and served at the proper temperature.Finished meal with a refreshing Basil Lime Sorbet.
Glasses of Louis Roederer, ZD Chardonnay and Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Pinot Noir paired wonderfully with our dinner.
Whitney, our server, was both friendly and professional. Alex, the restaurant manager, helped deliver dishes to our table. Wonderful personality!
Highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying at the Hyatt or live close.
Perfect atmosphere for a date night. We had such a relaxing evening on the patio surrounded palm trees and lights. It was secluded a bit from the live music at the bar next door. So we could faintly hear it, but it was not distracting. The best of both worlds! They also provided us with coupons for a free gondola ride around the property. Additionally, we just walked to the live music after dinner because it all shares a space. It was a wonderful experience, and we’re excited to go back!
Couldn’t eat outside because of the loud drunken behavior from the adjacent pools. Inside was loud with music and extraneous noise. Menu was limited and very expensive. Didn’t give you much food. Very bad value. Was surprised that the. Hyatt regency has gone so far down hill.
Food was good. Service took forever! Took 15 minutes to get our first drink order. Food took along time. I think they forgot some dishes as you could tell my sons dish was u see the heat plate for awhile and mine was fresh. Neither the waiter or his assistant delivered the food. The hostess brought it.
Food was very fresh. Tortellini was a very small portion and was ordered as a main meal.
Excellent scallops, salad and veal.
Server Christoph was excellent!
It was quite chilly in dining area. It would have been nice if I preferred the head and the tail of the fish removed before it was brought to the table. We all were grossed out by my dish presentation. The waitress was superb!
