Altitude Restaurant - Hyatt Regency Denver Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation weeks prior, but still had to line up for 10 minutes with people who did not reserve?
Service staff seemed very stretched, no water , no waiter to take order.
Kitchen was painstakingly slow.
Ended up putting ourselves and our client behind schedule for 9:00 am meetings.
Quite embarrassed and disappointed as you might expect .
We went before a matinee at the Buell. It's very handy to have a meal at the Altitude restaurant in the Hyatt before going to the DCPA because it's a short walk to the theater. It's nice to get a little walk in before sitting for the show. I expected to have the lunch buffet, but they weren't serving it that day. The website had indicated it would be available. They gave us a free dessert because of the error on the website. We each had a burger that we enjoyed. We ordered two desserts and shared, but that was too much. The peach and pomegranate cobbler had a very sweet topping on it so we didn't finish it. The chocolate dessert was fabulous and in the future we'll just share that.
Paid a lot of money, and we feel like it was a waste. Definitely not worth what we paid. The food was "blah", the buffet was ok. No hot vegetables at all, which was surprising. Not much of a selection. My daughter got a pasta dish, that was just ok. She didn't finish it. It was soooo cold in the restaurant, we were literally shaking. We definitely will not be back.
The service was good. Our waiter Sehel (sp?) was very nice friendly and made good conversation. The food was just okay. As we were grabbing plates from the buffet- someone from the staff said they were dirty. They had just opened. There was prime rib, but the guy cut a huge chunk and didn’t know anything. The back bar of hot food was delicious. They had veggies, mashed potatoes, and 3 different types of meats.
The dessert bar was mildly disappointing. The coffee cupcake was more like a chai tasting rock.. the orange brownie- same thing. The mousse cup was amazing along with the cheesecake. I’m not sure what they were thinking with the raspberry chimichanga but you can miss that one.
We went for their Christmas dinner. We are fairly early and had reservations. They were very accommodating. Excellent Christmas dinner with prime rib, turkey and ham at the carving station. It was busy but did not seem crowded or loud. We were able to have a very nice conversation and were not rushed. We will definitely keep Altitude in mind for next Christmas and when we are in Denver next.
It was wonderful to enjoy a Christmas buffet dinner without the hassle of home prep. In addition to the featured turkey (w/ stuffing and gravy), prime rib and ham, there were additional selections of seafood and other entrees. Although the salad offerings were outstanding, I did miss having a selection of cooked vegetables, other than mashed potatoes. The variety of enticing dessert selections was almost overwhelming.
Our family of four went to the Hyatt hotel for Christmas dinner and were extremely disappointed with our meal. We do not have a problem paying $55.00 a person for a special occasion but that being said this meal was anything but special. All of the meat items offered were cold-each of us tried something different with the same result. There were absolutely no hot vegetables offered to go with the meals. There were cold salads and meats for the main offerings. Given the price of this buffett we all felt like the menu was very limited. A few hours after the meal two of the four of us became ill with stomach issues which did not go away for two days. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice warm dinner. Very disappointed with the entire experience.
This was the third year we went to the brunch on Christmas day. Everything met our expectations except our server. He took a very long time to serve our drink orders and then did not come back to offer refills, accept additional orders or even refill our water for the rest of our meal. He was inattentive and indifferent towards us and we did not feel welcomed or appreciated by this server.
I have never given a negative review on Open Table - until now. Very overpriced meal. Mediocre food, especially the turkey and prime rib, both over cooked and dry. Slightly better side dishes and a respectable dessert selection.
Not much different than what you could get at Golden Corral or Country Buffet. Add the fairly stiff valet parking - $20/hour, $10 off card given, wine and even a 10% tip and you're looking at a $165 tab for a couple.
We came for Thanksgiving, our second year doing so. I enjoyed it as I did last year, though in both cases there were not numerous vegetarian options. The vegetarian options that were there were good, but only about five or six choices, which means I had the same plate twice. More vegetarian creations made for us (versus assuming all vegetarians want to eat at the salad bar) would be wonderful. Also, while the stuffing was vegetarian, I had to ask to find that information. All in all, worth the experience, but it could be better for people with dietary variations.
We have been coming to The Altitude for Thanksgiving dinner for the last 7 years & the food has always been amazing. This year however, not so much. The stuffing was mushy & tasteless, the desserts were not as good as past years & overall, the food just wasn’t as good as previous Thanksgiving buffets. Maybe add a coffee bar to the dessert bar & better desserts like classic cheesecake, chocolate cake, carrot cake & pumpkin cheesecake. The staff was amazing though!!! If the food continues to go downhill, we will no longer be celebrating Thanksgiving at your restaurant, sadly.
Vegetable curry was soooo good!! Our server, Barbie, was great and did not skip a beat. She was friendly, professional and joked around with my partner and I. The restaurant and the service was outstanding and is the reason we choose Hyatt again and again. Please recognize Barbie for the amazing work she does. Thank you.
I was disappointed as I thought I was making reservations for The Peak. I didn't know The Peak was the bar upstairs. Altitude is a misleading name. The restaurant was empty which speaks volumes. The Peak was packed (we had a drink after dinner to see the view). The restaurant needs to be The Peak (with a better name).
Breakfast meeting, chose to order off menu and stay at table talking. Pet peeve when ordering breakfast out - have everything arrive at once. My omelet came out lukewarm, but the bread for the table (toast, English muffins) came out only after well into my breakfast (and not really hot). While I might eat here again due to proximity to Colorado Convention Center, I can't strongly endorse for breakfast.
We had reservations but showed up early and they were able to seat us right away. Our waitress Kimberly was very perceptive and took it upon herself to see if different arrangements could be made to accommodate our tastes. The manager came by to make sure everything was going good for us. It was very comfortable and we felt very attended to. Thanks Kimberly and the staff at Altitude.
