Altesi has consistently delicious food, often interestingly different preparations of classic dishes, and it is much-appreciated in our neighborhood.
The service could be improved.
Another good meal before seeing a broadway show. We came early, 6:00, only a few tables occupied so service was excellent, food was between good and great. Recommend the pistachio tartufo dessert, homemade with no chocolate shell.
Was a fantastic experience... great service, delicious food and highly recommend! Definitely will go back!
Went for restaurant week. Had heard good things about this restaurant. Food and service were excellent. We were seated near a very large party and as soon as another table was available the hostess came over and asked us if we would like to move. Very classy.
Had lunch here with my daughter during Restaurant Week. Ordered the watermelon salad and the sole. Outstanding. Service was wonderful. My only complaint: Wine was $18 a glass, and I ordered two glasses. That made my wine bill more expensive than my food!!!
delicious carpaccio appetizer, topped with arugula and shaved parma. Tasty tiramisu dessert .Ossa Bucca main was tender and delightful.
We ate there for restaurant week. Both of us enjoyed our meals and it was a great value. The tiaramsu was fabulous.
Great ambiance, wonderful food and service.
Tuesday, Aug 6 at 9 pm. Food was delicious. Restaurant week menu selections give a honest representation of the kitchen’s skill. Appetizer, entree and desert were nicely balanced taste and texture. The wait staff was professional and they went out of their way to make my party of three feel comfortable. Overall I highly recommend the Madison location.
Excellent service. Nice atmosphere. Food is v good. Some strange combinations such as burrata and broccoli.
The food was excellent and very nice decor. A little more of the older crowd but a very nice dining experience.
what a neighborhood gem we were able to find during restaurant week. absolutely loved it and the people that worked there were delightful. highly recommend
We have been in Altesi many times already and it never disappoints . This time we took advantage of the restaurant week menu they offered and as usually it was great. The menu offers nice option to choose from many more compared to other restaurants we have been to for restaurant week. The food was great, the service warm and attentive and the ambience is lovely. Well done and see you soon.
This is a lovely Italian restaurant on the upper Eastside in the 60s. They had a very good restaurant week menu served on Saturdays as well as a la carte. Wine list was good and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back again.
Food was very disappointing. It's a shame because the place is lovely.
Great little Upper East Side restaurant with excellent service!
Always most pleasant at Altesi. Will surely come back for more!
We were in from out of town for the weekend and wanted a nearby neighborhood restaurant. We couldn’t have been happier with the service and the meal.
Fabulous food, great service, space between tabled.
We travel to New York every two weeks and dinner at Altesi’s is always on our list. The food is outstanding and the service is always warm and friendly.
Wonderful place for good food and quiet atmosphere supporting conversation.
Perfect upper east side location, beautiful patio, wonderful food.
Lovely atmosphere. Good food, good wine selection. Lovely outdoor area in back. Never disappoints!
A bit pricey but well worth it. Calm ambiance, outstanding service and exquisite food. Roman artichokes delicious, mista salad amazingly fresh, Pastas perfectly prepared and the sauces are sublime. Warm, friendly service and overall a wonderful experience! Special requests handled graciously.
What a nice find so close to where I was staying. Restaurant was pretty quiet for the holiday weekend, but the four or five tables of diners were clearly enjoying themselves. The salads we ordered were spectacular, with the favorite being the endive, pear, blue cheese, orange with vinaigrette. A perfect light starter. That was followed by the pasta special of fresh thin pasta [cant recall the specific name] is a Rosa sauce with fresh green peas and lamb sausage. Spectacular. My friend had the watermelon cucumber salad that was the special, and the branzino related fish that was also one of the specials, and both were also delicious and beautifully presented. I couldn’t resist the pistachio tartufo, which was incredibly tasty, and my friend had the chocolate semifreddo with caramelized oranges that was also near perfection. And prices very reasonable, at least by NYC standards.
Altesi has a wonderful brunch menu with numerous great vegetarian options and delicious fresh crusty bread. I highly recommend the Toscana for those who favor egg dishes bursting with flavor.
The weather was superb, so we were able to sit on the terrace under the catalpa tree. What a lovely spot. The staff couldn’t be nicer and the service was attentive and quick.
Hermoso lugar, tranquilo. Excelente servicio. Comida bien elaborada y presentada. Tienen el mejor tiramisu que he probado.
Loved the food, great atmosphere, though not very busy the evening we went.
Love Italien food and this was some of the best, for my taste that I have eaten in ew York.
When I am in New York I live close so it is also very convenient.
Well done to a very good chef, look forward to my ext visit.
Excellent and varied Italian food. Good wine list. Attentive, pleasant staff. Spacious seating. Nice outdoor terrace at back of restaurant.
DELICIOUS FOOD AND FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL SERVICE. MEAL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WE REMEMBERED.
A neighborhood gem with the most gracious, warm service!
Outstanding service & food!!
It is a great restaurant. We love coming to Altesi. The staff and owner take great care of their customers. The food is always delicious and there are many great options to choose from. The wine list is extensive with wide price range. It is truly authentic Italian restaurant with great warm atmosphere.
We love Altesi. We have been coming here since they opened and it’s always wonderful . The quality of food is great and consistent. The service is friendly and professional. Altesi is a great find on UES.
My son was in for the weekend and I wanted to treat him to a nice diner in the neighborhood.
Diner was a big disappointment, frankly often the case in the upper east side: overpriced for the quality. But this was do an extreme.
The food is extremely overpriced for the quality and the presentation. Portions are tiny. I do not like large American portions but this was a ridiculous opposite and not presented in any refined gourmet ways.
We had a mix of fried zucchini and calamari as an appetizer : Tiniest portion I have ever seen and not particularly good. Very poor unappetizing presentation.
Then we both had risotto. A mushroom truffle one and one with smoked salmon. Size felt like a side. As a traditional “primi” in an Italian restaurant that would have been followed by a secundi it would have been adequate but not at those prices and in the way it was presented. It was good but not great and presentation was sub par.
We will not return there. Plenty of other better options even in the area. Do not waste your money.
Perfect for a business lunch, price fix always nice, bright and quiet well appreciated as a rather hard find in NYC.
This dinner was
my second time at this lovely restaurant. The first was for lunch. The menu is not as extensive as some other Italian restaurants, but there are enough possibilities that everyone in our party of five had to make choices among appealing courses. At lunch and at dinner the food was very good as was the service. The wine list is extensive, but a bit expensive as well. The room is very attractive and, best of all, tables have generous space between them so conversation can be enjoyed together with a nice meal.
This is always one of my favorite restaurants in New York. I brought six, lovely, successful ladies for lunch and we had a delightful time! From the moment we arrived we were greeted very warmly, attention to detail was wonderful and in peccable. The cuisine was the best!! The ambience and the location are superb. Grazie Altesi!
This last time it wasn't as good in prior visit. Food disappointed.
Excellent refined Italian cuisine. In the desert menu the limoncello semifredo (homemade) is to be recommended. Everything is tasty and the portions are not to big! The staff is friendly and the decor standard, but comfortable. Really a nice experience.
