Altesi has become a favorite neighborhood restaurant of ours. Nice people, good food, easy and a pleasure
Great Italian restaurant! I took my girlfriend for her birthday there and everything went perfect. We sit down in the garden located in the back of the restaurant hidden from the noise of the NYC streets. The food was outstanding. We order octopus perfectly tender and burrata. For the main course we had ravioli with veal in pistachio sauce and salmon. We enjoyed every bite and at the end we had i must say one of the best tiramisu i have ever tried. We absolutely loved our dinner and we will be back very soon!
We loved Altesi. I travel a lot for business in Italy and I must say the food at Altesi is same as good as the best restaurants in Italy. We had a party of six and everyone loved their dishes. I had cured salmon with the cucumber and apple to start and it was fantastic followed by an excellent, perfectly cooked papardelle pasta with chanterelle mushroom. So if you don't want to travel as far as Italy for the great, authentic food go to Altesi and you will love it.
Plain awful. Everything about this restaurant was awful. The place was empty--which should have scared us off. We were foolish and wrong to stay. We were seated at a table in the restaurant's faux garden, which was no garden at all--no flowers, no grass, just a makeshift backroom with a noisy air conditioner. We asked for a corner table (usually reserved for 4)--there were only two of us--but there were plenty of tables because the place was, except for the two of us, EMPTY. The waitress seemed to have an attitude when we asked for a different table. The menu was negligibly "Italian." So, I ordered "safe", just roast chicken; it came with spinach. I specified that the meals should be served piping hot. The entrees came lukewarm, at best. My chicken was dry and tasteless. It came with no potatoes, no rice, no pasta even. Just a sliver of spinach. My friend's more "Italian" entree meal (a pasta) was not even edible--most of it was left on her plate. It, too, did not come piping hot, as I had specifically requested. My appetizer--some kind of spinach salad--was not leafy nor much of a salad. It, too, was tasteless. We both skipped desssert (which I never do), because the food (appetizers and entress) were so bad; so, we decided not to even try a dessert. Everything was very expensive, including alcohol, and food portions were tiny, which was OK only because the meals were inedible. Word to the wise: FUGGGETABOUT IT if you want genuine or authentic Italian--or even attractive and appetizing food. The worst dining experience this year, to date. Costly, and deplorable in every way. Needs a new chef, new wait staff, real garden, and an attentive management. This place gets an "F."
It was too expensive for what it was.
the food was good but very small portion
Altesi is only 5 blocks away from where we live so that makes it a neighborhood restaurant..........but it's much more than that. It's a place with terrific food where the young woman who looks after us is a delight and the crowd is a more than a neighborhood crowd. I particularly like their chicken..........something they do that I've never had before. I also like their soups so that's it for me.......soup and chicken. In the end, it's the gestalt and we love it.
Always amazing food, service unpretentious and very attentive especially compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. You are treated as a customer not as a number.
Very warm and welcoming staff.
An enjoyable dinner after museum visits, close by and an obvious favorite of locals. Appetizer salads were interesting and satisfying, difficult to make choices since nearly all were appealing. Rack of lamb was nicely seasoned and served, while salmon was done to request. Dessert can be passed if time or satiety are factors. Varied and reasonable wine selections, a Compaccio our selection. Our first visit, and we plan to return.
This quiet, elegant restaurant is a hidden gem on E. 64th St. The front of the house is gracious and welcoming and the service is attentive but not overbearing. The food is well prepared and delicious. I never hesitate to make a reservation when I find myself in the neighborhood. Treat yourself.
I love this place the staff is so friendly and on point. Love the food the gnocchi is amazing as well as there specials. Nice atmosphere amazing wine collection quiet you cannot go wrong.... On a side note, I hadn't been there in over a month but the hostess and bartender both remembered me and my drink preferences who could ask for more.... EAT HERE!!!!!!
Our new neighborhood favorite. Fresh, beautifully prepared food, great wine list, attentive service that is never intrusive, soothing decor and atmosphere. Can't wait to return
Average at best.
We had a wonderful outdoor meal in Altesi's pretty and protected garden. All three of us enjoyed every part of the experience. The food at Altesi is always delicious and the service one receives especially attentive and kind. Quite frankly, it was hard to leave and we look forward to returning very soon.
Delicious, authentic Italian. Lovely atmosphere..quiet enough for conversations but modern, fresh and friendly. Highly recommend!
Delicious food and wonderful service. The staff was very attentive. I will definitely go back!
Everything was great! The food was excellently prepared and came to our table piping hot! The next time we are in NYC we will definitely dine there again!
We enjoyed a delicious lunch in a beautiful restaurant with extremely attentive service! Who could ask for more ?
always ideal and delicious. the decor, the service and the menu selections make it
a favorite for lunch and dinner.
Always superb food and service.
Everything was great. The food was outstanding and the service was just as good. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Great happy to go back
Well marketed and very disappointing. The pasta was over cooked, the fish was off, and the price was too high for what it was. Just another upper east sider that should go away.
Had a lovely dining experience. Great food, nice ambiance and service. This was our first time at this restaurant and would definitely go back again
I went to Altesi for Easter with my family and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent and our servers were very attentive and friendly. I had the veal which was incredible and two in my party had different the bucatini and squid ink pasta, which they pined over the next day.
I've gone three times recently for lunch (2) and dinner (1). Each of the meals was outstanding. Service is professional and friendly. Can't wait til it's warm enough for the garden. Altesi is my new go-to Italian
Always a warm delicious spot for great authentic Italian service and cuisine.
Stylish, quiet, attentive. Easy to talk, never rushed.
absolutely the best Italian restaurant in the east side!!!!
We had a delicious lunch. The ravioli with brown butter and sage was terrific. The decor is lovely, and the service was perfect.
Very solicitous wait staff, very decent food. Quiet at Saturday lunch in the winter...
We ate there during Restaurant Week. The choices were excellent and the food was terrific. The noise level is a little high for my taste.
We shared three excellent courses. Braised artichoke hearts, squid ink pasta with red mussel sauce, and mixed seafood grill. Washed down with a terrific Pinot Bianco. Friendly staff, smart looking room with a small garden. They aren’t giving the food away for free. But the meal matched the price, around $70 a head, including espresso and chocolate cannoli
we certainly enjoyed getting to know this neighborhood gem while dining during Restaurant Week, Great way to meet the loals.
We came to Altesi for Restaurant Week because it was pretty close to the Breuer museum. The salad was interesting but not as good or better than others. The dressing was good. The calamari was very good. I ordered the lemon sole. The portion was minuscule. My companion had the ravioli which were lovely.
The apple tart dessert was good.
my 3rd and truly lovely meal at LTC. the food was lovely. dessert could have been a bit more interesting. ,The staff staff are attentive and in good humor. All in all, they made our get together a really pleasant afternoon. We shall return- restaurant week or no restaurant week!!
Terrific food.....creative menu; prepartion elegant and not 'over tghe top'......just right!
We absolutely love Altesi. The food was outstanding. For the appetizer we had salmon and octopus followed by authentic and perfectly done pastas. The decor is beautiful and the service warm and friendly. We will be back very soon!
Wonderful experience as always. When we arrived the restaurant was almost full. We got the table immediately. They offered the restaurant week menu which has some very nice choices. Great options for the value. Half of our party ordered from regular dinner menu and another half from the restaurant week menu. Everyone couldn't be happier. I love my octopus followed by their new ravioli filled with veal in a pistachio sauce. The service as always was wonderful and friendly. Even though servers were busy they managed to pay special attention to every table. And the owner Paolo who we know after coming to Altesi for a while already has always some nice story for us.
Service could use some improvement. Servers constantly reach over diners to deliver and clear plates and refill water.
Altesi has been our favorite restaurant for over 7 years!
The food is delicious! It is made with the freshest produce and carefully chosen ingredients. The team is amazing and very knowledgeable. The ambiance is very cozy and we love sitting on the terrace when it’s warm outside.
Perfect for everyday dining or a special occasion!
A must try is ‘carciofi alla giudia (grilled artichokes); polenta with asparagus; fresh made pappardelle with chanterelles AND tiramisu.
Restaurant Week Lunch.
Food ok, service good.
Too many other establishments in NYC.
