Loved the food, great atmosphere, though not very busy the evening we went.
Love Italien food and this was some of the best, for my taste that I have eaten in ew York.
When I am in New York I live close so it is also very convenient.
Well done to a very good chef, look forward to my ext visit.
Excellent and varied Italian food. Good wine list. Attentive, pleasant staff. Spacious seating. Nice outdoor terrace at back of restaurant.
DELICIOUS FOOD AND FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL SERVICE. MEAL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WE REMEMBERED.
A neighborhood gem with the most gracious, warm service!
Outstanding service & food!!
It is a great restaurant. We love coming to Altesi. The staff and owner take great care of their customers. The food is always delicious and there are many great options to choose from. The wine list is extensive with wide price range. It is truly authentic Italian restaurant with great warm atmosphere.
We love Altesi. We have been coming here since they opened and it’s always wonderful . The quality of food is great and consistent. The service is friendly and professional. Altesi is a great find on UES.
My son was in for the weekend and I wanted to treat him to a nice diner in the neighborhood.
Diner was a big disappointment, frankly often the case in the upper east side: overpriced for the quality. But this was do an extreme.
The food is extremely overpriced for the quality and the presentation. Portions are tiny. I do not like large American portions but this was a ridiculous opposite and not presented in any refined gourmet ways.
We had a mix of fried zucchini and calamari as an appetizer : Tiniest portion I have ever seen and not particularly good. Very poor unappetizing presentation.
Then we both had risotto. A mushroom truffle one and one with smoked salmon. Size felt like a side. As a traditional “primi” in an Italian restaurant that would have been followed by a secundi it would have been adequate but not at those prices and in the way it was presented. It was good but not great and presentation was sub par.
We will not return there. Plenty of other better options even in the area. Do not waste your money.
Perfect for a business lunch, price fix always nice, bright and quiet well appreciated as a rather hard find in NYC.
This dinner was
my second time at this lovely restaurant. The first was for lunch. The menu is not as extensive as some other Italian restaurants, but there are enough possibilities that everyone in our party of five had to make choices among appealing courses. At lunch and at dinner the food was very good as was the service. The wine list is extensive, but a bit expensive as well. The room is very attractive and, best of all, tables have generous space between them so conversation can be enjoyed together with a nice meal.
This is always one of my favorite restaurants in New York. I brought six, lovely, successful ladies for lunch and we had a delightful time! From the moment we arrived we were greeted very warmly, attention to detail was wonderful and in peccable. The cuisine was the best!! The ambience and the location are superb. Grazie Altesi!
This last time it wasn't as good in prior visit. Food disappointed.
Excellent refined Italian cuisine. In the desert menu the limoncello semifredo (homemade) is to be recommended. Everything is tasty and the portions are not to big! The staff is friendly and the decor standard, but comfortable. Really a nice experience.
A lovely place for lunch with my wife and another couple. The food and service were very good and the tables are far enough apart that we could enjoy our friends company without straining to hear them. All in all, a very satisfying experience. We’ll certainly be back.
Altesi is a neighborhood gem. They offered both lunch and brunch when we dined on a Saturday. Their expansive options allow everything from splurging and forgetting calories, to eating lean ( to save room for dessert! ) The homemade bread was warm and crusty.
Desserts were lovely as were the entrees. It was a quiet, lovely spot to enjoy a Saturday afternoon and I recommend it to anyone looking for a special place. It is sophisticated but relaxed, and could be a perfect spot for enjoying great food and wine.
Service is the best. Food could be a little bit better.
Great service and ambiance. The food was delicious!!
Ultra nice restaurant, as good as any I’ve ever eaten in. Extremely professional staff. Would go again.
Besides the food being relish & wonderfully served.......the service was beyond wonderful, even though I've been to other establishments for restaurant week and had felt not too welcome, since I/we were there just for the restaurant week promo. BRAVO to Altesi !!!!
Altesi is an undiscovered neighborhood gem. It's good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is delicious and varied. It's a quiet oasis in a sea of much louder venues.
Everything was marvelous. The food, service and the staff. Its a wonderful place for a quite meal with or a friends get together , a family night out.
We went to Altesi to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and it was perfect. The service was friendly and professional. We loved the octopus perfectly grilled and tender. I had a salmon which was great and he had outstanding ravioli with veal in pistachio sauce. We finished with delicious tiramisu and the dinner was just great!
We have been to Altesi few times already and we always love it. This time we tried restaurant week menu that they offered. The food was great and many good options to choose from. I have been to other restaurants participating in the restaurant week program and I must say Altesi offers great options that everyone can be happy with. The service and the atmosphere were great and they wine list is impressive.
Terribly overpriced for the quality of food and service. My daughter ordered calamari that may have been made of rubber. The rest of the food was good. Not great.
I have been to this restaurant several times previously and was always impressed with the food. This time however the food was very underwhelming. I had tomato soup it was OK and salmon which was not very good. It came in a soupy mushy kind of sauce and was really unimpressive.Service was OK. Disappointing because the previous two visits were very good ones.
We enjoyed our meal and found everyone who works there to be very nice. My chicken was a bit too salty even though I asked for no salt. The frisbee salad was fabulous.
I was there only for one lunch. It was quite empty around 1:30. I will come again as I like that it was quiet for conversation and the ambiance is very attractive.
My simple pasta with tomato and mozzarella was al dente but had too much sauce.
A very worthwhile restaurant. The decore is lovely. The tables are spaced well apart from each other. The staff is friendly and attentive. Most important, the Italian food is very good. Most of the menu is traditional Italian, but some is inovative and delicious.
We had a lovely time. The food was great and the service attentive and friendly.
Wonderful Italian food!
We booked Altesi on New Year's Eve and looked forward to a very special evening. All in all, it was terrible, bad food, very hectic service and high prices! We were freezing, because the heating was not switched on.
We can't recommend this restaurant!!!
Dined here on New Years Eve with our daughter, son in law and two month old grandson. Arrived early to avoid too much noise. They were very accommodating. We started with champagne and then with spit orders of ravioli and gnocchi, delicious. Segued to prosciutto and melon and then on to rack of lamb, halibut and salmon. Ca Marcanda Magari wine. All excellent. This is kind of an undiscovered jewel in our neighborhood.
Very comfortable restaurant. Hostess is excellent. Choice is pan Italian. Wine list is complete.
Some of the best Italian food we have ever had. The service is warm and friendly and the food is outstanding. This is our favorite restaurant when we come to New York. It is just wonderful. And if you like original iced tea they have the best in the city.
Small, yet pricey portions
Viola was an amazing server and made our dining experience very special!
Thia place is not trendy or flashy but authentic with class.
Good food. Attentive service. Quiet enough for conversation during dinner. A little pricey but in line with local restaurants.
Good for all occasion
Great decor - beautiful and calm
