Alta Mare is a small bistro located in Miami that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. Both inside and outside dining maximize the available seats for patrons, and the open kitchen both saves space and enables diners to watch the chefs work their magic. The intimate space also makes it the ideal place to either begin or end a romantic evening.

The menu is mostly Mediterranean fare, with a few twists. Popular items on the generous menu include the grilled octopus, blackened cobia with roasted vegetables, arugala salad with beets and goat cheese and Harris Ranch braised short ribs. This is the most impressive restaurant I've found on Lincoln Road in terms of food quality. We return regularly.

We ordered octopus and grouper both over cooked. Paid too much and should have went for grilled grouper sandwich on ocEan save and save a tin of money

We had not eaten at this restaurant in a long time . We had an early movie and wanted a restaurant close to the Regal cinemas . I had the porcini risotto and my companion had the spaghetti with clams . Both are dishes were tastey and we decided to return again soon

When we first sat we were informed that there was no salmon for the evening. Not a problem. However. I ordered a tuna carpaccio appetizer and turns out they were out of tuna as well. For my meal I was considering the chicken piccata and was then informed the restaurant also had no chicken for the evening. I then decided on a pasta dish and my friend ordered the Chilean sea bass. The entrees took about 20 minutes to arrive after the apps were cleared. The sea bass was a $50 dish and was very sub par so she sent it back. She then ordered the special for the night and the manager offered to give it to her for the price of the sea bass which was nice, seeing as the special price was more than her original order. However, the dish took another 25 minutes to arrive at the table, leaving me to eat my meal alone while she waited for hers to arrive. There was only 1 other table sat in the restaurant and we were puzzled why after so many issues, her food then took so long. I honestly felt bad for the waitress in the whole ordeal. She was very sweet and I could tell that she felt awful for all that was going wrong, she did offer to get us dessert or coffee as compensation for all the problems. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and I think would be a lovely place for a romantic dinner if they were more organized.

Quite enjoyable dinner with delicious preparations. We started with mussels in a great tomato garlic sauce and seared scallops with an awesome saffron cream sauce. The risotto with seafood was perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed the flash fried fish, which was a tasty unique treat. The parpadelle with short ribs was delightful. We enjoyed a nice Chianti Classico which was a bit pricey. Overall, it was a delicious dinner.

It used to be one of our favourite restaurants, however on our most recent visit we realized that the owner and staff changed. The place looks much better but the food was bland. There were a few items on the menu that only after we ordered they informed us they are not available. The octopus was served as a very small dish that was rather tasteless. This was strange to us as it used to be one of the best dishes on the menu. On top of all that they also charged a steep 20% to the bill.

We were a party of six. Everyone had something different and everyone RAVED about the food. Was a great night. Its not inexpensive but its worth it.

It was a horrible experience. We had a late reservation and they were rushing us to the point of removing plates from the table before we were finished eating. Server was rude with no patience.

the chef knows how to prepare fresh fish, and the staff knows how to pace the meal.
the bread is freshly baked, and served with EVOO and balsamic- a plus.

The food was passable, the service was marginal, the first bottle of wine was good. Even after telling our waiter that we wanted a dry, oaky chardonnay, he suggested one that ended up being quite sweet. It was too expensive for the quality of the food.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is always very good with one exception... the Wahoo Crudo - ridiculously small for $14 and absolutely no flavor. Everthing else as usual was terrific.

We arrived 25 min earlier. Asked to wait 5 min, than asked to sit, than ask to come back in 25 min. Unprofessional, particularly considering that the restaurant had plenty of tables available.
We booked from the website for a New Year's eve dinner. They did not mention that there was a fixed menu for the night, so we reserved the dinner based on the advertised fish menu.
Well, fixed menu available with meat and fish together...and 4-5 other choices out of the new year's eve menu. We should have left then, but after all the trouble we decided to give it a try. Food was good even if below expectation considering the premium price. I am pretty sure that during a regular week it would have been a better experience. Would I give it another try when I am in town? I do not think so.

After making a reservation for Christmas dinner a week ahead of time, and entering a mostly-empty restaurant, we were treated coldly by the hostess, ignored by five waiters, and finally told that they were out of almost everything on the menu. So disappointing! We paid for our cocktail and walked out!

I wanted tuna and they were out. My yellowtail was so dry as to almost be inedible. My date said his was very good. I never send food back. He said i should have. The staff was very nice. The location is good. I won't return though since there are lots of options in this neighborhood.

They priced wrong and didn't honor. 3 items on menu missing. Poured my own wine. Simply poor. Have been going to this place for years and clearly not under same Managment.

Salads were average, but the fish was excellent. Background music was very irritating and not appropriate for such a good restaurant.
