Alta Mare is a small bistro located in Miami that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. Both inside and outside dining maximize the available seats for patrons, and the open kitchen both saves space and enables diners to watch the chefs work their magic. The intimate space also makes it the ideal place to either begin or end a romantic evening. The menu is mostly Mediterranean fare, with a few twists. Popular items on the generous menu include the grilled octopus, blackened cobia with roasted vegetables, arugala salad with beets and goat cheese and Harris Ranch braised short ribs. The dessert menu features a delicious classic vanilla bourbon creme brul�e that can't be missed.

There's been a change here and not only in ownership. The restaurant is not up to the same level as we had come to expect. We left here tonight very disappointed.

Fish was great, everything else was okay. More tourists spot. Waiter forgot part of the order.

I try to visit Altamare every time I visit Miami (I live in Chicago). They never disappoint me. We had a tasty salad with Asian pear, grilled octopus with chorizo and faro, Thai mussels, and fresh pasta with shrimp, snow peas and asparagus. The best surprise was the panne cotta, served over a sort of fresh pineapple marmalade. I'll be back.

We picked this based on good feedback on Open Table, and we were not disappointed. The seafood specials all sounded wonderful- it was hard to choose. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food immensely, and having classics like burrata to start with meant there was something for everyone. the service was excellent and friendly. This is a restaurant that deserves one of the prime spots on Lincoln Road- the food is better than what the big splashy places closer to the action offer.

If your looking for excellent food and don't mind spending a few extra bucks this is the place. Great seafood good drinks and right on Lincoln rd. I liked that it wasn't touristy I can't stand those places. We went with our two children and had a great meal. Order wisely because it could add up.

We had a pleasant early dinner here. The dining room was empty but the bar very active. The atmosphere was nicely nautical. It was unfortunate that the tables outside were on a busy street rather than a waterfront deck. The service was fine. My wife did better with her dinner than I did. She had an excellent burrata with good tomatoes. This was followed by a very good mushroom ravioli. I had the fritto misto which turned out to be a calamari dish with a shrimp and a couple of other things tossed in. The calamari was hardly crispy and I was fairly disappointed. The cobia entree was very good but marred by being served on top of a nice vegtable medley that had not been warmed up. Thus the mixed review. Should we be in the neighborhood (Lincoln Road west of Alton) we would try again but not otherwise make a drive to get there.

Ceviche and Crudo were good. However, black grouper entree was overcooked, dry and overall lacking in flavor.
