   Altaeats is consistently delicious, with dishes we crave often (especially the Wedge, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Chicken Milanese, Beef Wellington, and Wagyu Burger). The roasties are such a great value so we love to swing by usually once a week to grab the takeout special! Chef Paul is also very hands-on, hospitable, creative, and once took a special dish (fondue plate) request for us from an IG DM! The staff are super polite and the ambiance is neutral and comfortable (especially the booths). Indoor or outdoor dining options, super clean, and a great ever-evolving wine list!

   Always a great meal at Altaeats. The menu is not extensive but each item is prepared to perfection! Can't go wrong with the bacon wrapped dates and the duck breast. Save room for desert!

    The beef wellington and the lamb chops are excellent. I would have liked one more lamp chop as they are so good, but that does leave room for the terrific chocolate dessert.

    Wonderful food and perfect service. Love a waiter who is friendly, without needing to ask the details of my day, super efficient, without reciting a laundry list of options too long to remember, allowing the food to speak for itself and my focus to remain on the people I’m with. Shared the ribeye with my Grandson, so juicy, so tasty! As a single senior, the prices are a budget stretch, but the experience is worth every penny and measures up to the special occasions I celebrate in the warm atmosphere you provide.     It's been a while since I've been this impressed with a new find (for me at least) in LA. I was just browsing options on Open Table and something about the limited menu and interesting wines by the glass seemed worth a try. We were offered a delightful and intimate corner table. Normally I'd think bread and butter is worth skipping. But this was the best bread and butter service I think I may have ever had. The wines by the glass were diverse and would please a range of tastes. The service was attentive but not doting. The bacon wrapped dates were perfect. The caesar salad was as great as all the reviews suggested. I had the rack of lamb and it was perhaps the best entree I've had at a restaurant in months. The grilled asparagus were heavenly My partner had the risotto with shrimp and I found it under cooked and the shrimp itself tasted like they were steamed or cooked separately and then just added in at the end. You could tell there was no flavor in their shell. A bit of a disappointment. But our friend's fish looked impeccable. I'm not a chocolate person but the others loved the cake. I had the apple tart and although I'm not normally an apple person, this dessert was fantastic. Their whip cream is peerless. I wish they had more than just two desserts. This place is far away from where I live but I will travel to try other dishes. I'd say it's a perfect menu (just right in options and flavors), perfect wine lists (a few regulars, a few surprises, the normal mark up), comfortable seats, and nearly perfect service. After over a decade in the culinary industry, I thought I'd someday have my own place. If that ever happens, I imagine it would be a lot like Altaeats. Can't wait to return.

    Great little neighborhood spot with wonderful service and a focused menu. Wine and beer only, but excellent choices of wine. We had the Alta bread, which was delicious and the bacon wrapped dates. We did not have a salad, but we saw a lot of people order the caesar and commenting on how good the dressing was. We had the risotto and the steak. Both were good, but we look forward to exploring other options as they do have a good variety of main dish options.

    First time there. Tried a bit of everything. Tapenade. Bread/butters. Bacon wrapped dates. Caesar (AMAZING). Lamb chop (Great). Halibut (light and delish). Beef Wellington. (Rich). Wine was super. But the service and owner was what sets this place apart. Can't wait to go back. Plan on being a regular!!! Also glad to know there is Roastie Meals throughout the week now.     First time and the food was outstanding and will be back. They forgot our side dish and the waiter was on break and by the time they bring it to us we were almost done. The hostess that brought it to us once we told them it was a little to late, she did not say sorry just you “so you don’t want it” and took it back. Once the waiter came back he said sorry and comp our desert. A little customer service training to the hostess may help.

    Chef Ragan and staff are exceptional. There are no signs announcing your destination and the window are blacked out. There is nothing to tell you that this is a restaurant other than the advice of friends who know. It is word of mouth only and as always, the place was full the night we were here. Ask for the mystery wine, take your time and enjoy your meal. Make a few friends and enjoy your experience. Our favorite Los Angeles Restaurant.

    Altaeats never fails to please! One of our go tos and we are never, ever disappointed. Even though they were out of salmon (Paul makes it better than anyone) we were super happy with the Brussels sprouts - like beyond better than anything you can imagine - and endive salad and French fries and bread and scallops and rack of lamb and oh my god the pot au creme!!! all soooo delicious I wish I was back there tonight!

    They were very welcoming upon our arrival and we were quickly escorted to our table. Server was very responsive, very helpful and anticipated our needs. Dinner was delivered in a timely manner once we completed our appetizers. All the food was nicely plated and was cooked perfectly to our liking. Their bread and butter was to die for. The bacon wrapped dates were beyond amazing. 2 in our party ordered the burgers and both said it was the best burger they had ever had. I ordered the special - 4oz wagyu filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus - beyond amazing!!! Lastly the 4th person in our party ordered the pork chop - he described it and the accompanying sauce as memorable. A shared dessert completed the evening - the chocolate pot de crème - exceptional! This is a restaurant not to be missed.

    Amazing restaurant! Be careful there is no signage outside but inside…. All signs point to great food, great service and a place where you can actually talk across a table. I could eat everything on this menu!!! So delicious! I will be back!

    It was our wedding anniversary. I didn’t like that the server, not the young one, but the heavyset older man, reached across in front of the person sitting next to me , to put my plate down. He should have come around to where I was sitting.

    Fantastic meal at one of our favorite go-to local Pasadena/Altadena restaurants. We haven’t visited as frequently the last couple of years due to the Pandemic; so nice to see that this restaurant continues to stand strong in tested times.     This fills a nice little niche in the Pasadena/Altadena area - a small neighborhood-y restaurant with good food. The homemade bread they brought out in the beginning was amazing. Great Caesar salad, and my entree of salmon was very good. The service by out waiter could not have been better. My husband thinks they need to have Craftsman beer on tap; he ended up going to the liquor store a few places down and picking up a can of beer (classy!). But a little craft food place like this could use one good beer on tap. I would highly recommend Alta Eats, it was quiet enough. There is no sign and you can't see in the window so we had a hard time finding it, but look for the address and you'll be ok.

    Altaeats is a small chef-owned neighborhood restaurant with delicious food, great service, and a wonderfully warm atmosphere. If you choose to do takeout, the chef's roasties are terrific, especially if you need to entertain on short notice!
