Perfect for what we were looking for on a casual, early Friday meal. Been there before and knew exactly what to expect.
Local, small and quiet, this is our "go to" choice for perfectly prepared and presented dishes and reasonable pricing. Great wines and beers as well! (incl. highly-rated obscure N/A beers).
The food here is SO GOOD! Noise levels were high when we arrived but the hostess offered us differing seating options to accommodate. We ate outside - which was just right.
Everything was very satisfactory, food was outstanding the rest is Awesome, I’ll go there more often
Fabulous dining experience! We wanted to try some place new and using opentable chose Alta eats. Drive from Toluca Lake was less tha 20 minutes. Restaurant was modern but cozy. Reception friendly. Entrees excellent quality and so tasty. Like being in a semi private kitchen. Wine list was a nice selection. Don't forget to have the apple tart- the best! We will be back..
Great service and amazing food! I can’t wait to come back.
The food is always amazing! Service excellent! Great double date night. Ohh and the apple tart! Order 2!!
First time back after pandemic. Just as we remembered.
Thanks for a great meal Chef!
Wonderful experience. Felt like you were dining at a friends home
The food was delicious and we enjoyed a number of tasty appetizers and entrees. The bacon wrapped dates, the warm bread with honey butter, and the filet mignon toast were among my favorites. A special shout out goes to Elijah who made my delicious wedge salad into a chopped salad and to Laurel our friendly server 😀
It was our first time at Altaeats and everything we ordered was phenomenal! We started out with the bread & butter and the buffalo brussel sprouts. There were 2 different flavors of butter, chive and cinnamon honey, and they were both amazing. The bread was also warm and soft. The brussel sprouts were perfectly caramelized with the buffalo flavor. For my entree, I got the roasted cauliflower and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The tahini on the cauliflower was refreshing, and I couldn’t get enough of the mashed potatoes. My boyfriend got the ribeye and said it was great too. The service was very attentive. All in all, it was a great dinner and we look forward to returning!
Great good and venue. The only complaint I have is the waitress worn a tank top with her breasts hanging out. It made us super uncomfortable.
Food was amazing as usual. Glad to have chef Paul back in the kitchen. Worth making your way up to the foothills of Pasadena.
We started the evening at Altadena Beverage next door getting the lowdown on wines. We picked a white and a red Cotes du Rhone to share and got the magic cork. Then over to Altaeats. We did the outdoor seating. Staff was attentive. Food came quickly and was delicious. There was 4 of us. Salads, lamb, duck and scallops were had. All perfectly cooked and tasty. The apple tarts were flaky and flavorful.
Always a treat!
We ate on the patio for the first time. Turned out our worries about the traffic on Allen, but it was quiet. The food and service were exceptional as always. Come and support this neighborhood gem!
Food was great. We love this little local gem.thank you
Food was delicious. Recommend the Beef Wellington.
Always good here. The wedge salad, of all things, rocks. Only quibble is the pours on the wines by the glass were light, and a bit warmish
The food has always been outstanding at Altaeats, but last night's meal was especially memorable. Each of the entrees--there were four--for our party was delicious. The staff was very patient with our table as we took an exceptionally long time to place our order.
The food is always excellent, friendly and unhurried service and laid back atmosphere. Perfect.
Some of the best food in LA in this gem in Altadena. Limited choices, but great food and service. Fish, lamb and beef are all great, and the sides are mouthwatering.
Fab food and service!
If full,. this is noisy. The food is good, there is no external sign, so many people don't know it's there. On a Saturday6 night, It's full and loud. I'm still looking for the replacement for the Velvet Turtle, drapes on the walls, carpeted floors, plush booths. If you know of anyplace in the San Gabriel Valley fitting those requirements, I'd be glad to hear about it. When the old VT became Houston's it lost me and I suspect most of its over 65 customers.
Thank you Paul for a delicious meal! The flavors were fantastic!
Excellent service, cuisine and wine selection. We look forward to our next visit!
Chef Paul Ragan's Beef Wellington is always supreme. The swordfish preparation was perfect: soft, very moist, by far the best I've ever had.
I love this restaurant. Cozy, hip, great chef, quality food, a gem.
welcoming neighborhood small eatery. Surprisingly engaging food, with a small eclectic menu that was a bit on the pricey side. Dinner was upscale pricing in a diner setting I don't know about lunch or breakfast but I would be willing to try.
First time, found by OpenTable, excellent little neighborhood spot, great food. Their own liquor store next door and you can bring to the restaurant. Interesting unique finds. Will go again, when in the area.
Always an excellent dining experience.
So glad they survived the pandemic!
A wonderful experience. We truly enjoy everything about dining at Alta Eats.
Neighborhood, under-the-radar gem. Well-presented, tasty, appropriately-sized portions. Only complaint is I wish they had signage because I would’ve come here 15 years ago had I known what this place was as I drove past it every day
Wonderful food, excellent service. Superb experience
This was our first time back for in-person dining since the pandemic hit. The scallops and rack of lamb were superb! It was great to be back at one of our very favorite local spots! Come soon and you’ll want to come often...promise!
I can't say enough about Chef Paul, his staff, and his food. Throughout the pandemic, he still made sure that his staff was fully employed. He also donated meals every Thursday to the Pasadena Senior Center and also to any first responders/health care workers. As soon as my husband and I were two weeks out from our second vaccine shot, we knew we had to go to AltaEats to support them (our first meal out since before the pandemic). Both the steak and the lamb chops were beyond fantastic! Also, don't ever forget to order the bread with the compound butter because it's just that good. The restaurant was well spaced out but it did not detract from the intimate ambience. Thank you, Chef Paul!
Another wonderful meal from Chef Paul and his Altaeats team. They're also doing a wonderful job with handling Covid concerns.
The food was excellent, beyond 5 star in concept, flavors, price, style. A foodie's perfect spot! Quaint, quiet, quality and quantity - in love and will be BACK!
Altaeats was a cute gem in pasadena. I like that it is low key. Food did take long to come out but it was always hot and fresh. Will definitely be back!
