Good environment, good food and drinks, but I don't agree with the mandatory tip on each person of $10
The food was very good with a fairly limited menu. The Caesar salad was unusual but outstanding! It was quite noisy when we were there, but the ambience improved when the city lights came on. The view was very pretty. We will definitely try it again.
The food was delicious. Do you know you can order things off the bar menu in the restaurant too?
We went in before seeing Michelle Obama speak at the Moda Center and so did most of the rest of the crowd. Our waiter was FANTASTIC and handled the volume like a champ. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious and my pineapple upside down cake was the perfect ending to my delightful meal.
The atmosphere at Altabira is amazing, the view is gorgeous and the facility has a nice vibe. The menu is extremely small, which wouldn't be bad if the food was excellent, but I felt like it was only sub par. The server was very nice, but it took forever for us to order, and once we finally got our food it was a significant amount of time before we saw him again to order dessert and get the check. He only came back once to see if we needed anything and the whole lunch took a lot longer than I had expected due to the slow service. Overall not a terrible experience, there are just better options out there.
I went to Altabira Tavern for Portland Dining month and did not have a good experience. I hate when restaurants sign up for Portland Dining Month and then do a crappy job. Its an opportunity to exhibit your food and space and if you do a good job I might come back or recommend you. Instead the food tasted like it was out of a can, our server was a not very helpful and was a little rude. I am glad I only spent $33 because I would not come back to spend the $20-$30 on a full entrée
We had a great time and were thrilled to discover this treasure of a dining experience with a view!
Consistently a great experience with great food and a wonderful vibe. It's always a sure thing for me.
We ate dinner inside, but the best part of the Altabira is having drinks/apps out on the open air deck.
Beautiful, low-key environment, with lovely views. Courteous and attentive staff. Really delicious food, stunningly presented. A bit pricey, however, you get what you pay for! And this restaurant was definitely worth it!
I originally didn't request a table with a view, but when I got there I asked the host if it would be okay if I got one by the window instead. Most hosts would groan and maybe give an attitude, but the gentleman hosting was more than happy to accommodate my request. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was quick and amazing. Thank you!
Really had an all around great experience eating here. Loved the rooftop view & looking forward to returning soon.
You advertise that you have parking in the hotel but forget to say that it is Valet Parking. We enjoyed the experience but were disappointed with the desserts. The cookie with the ice cream was very hard, the flourless cake was dry. Since you have a bakery we were expecting more. However, the chowder and chop were superb!
We went for dinner which took 2 1/2 hours. Service was very slow and the entree for my wife and myself had to be sent back. I had the tagliatelle and it was rubber tough. She had the risotto and it was more like a rice pilaf than risotto. My Caesar salad was tasty, but had way too much dressing. Service was unbelievably slow with no updates on delay or checking in if we wanted any additional drinks while waiting. A very disappointing experience.
Noisy, quite busy - but delicious
We very much enjoyed the food and cocktails at Altabira. The wait, however, was less than satisfactory. We had a 7:30 reservation, and were seated right away, but were left on our own for 20-30 minutes.
Once we were served, everything was delicious. In particular, the pork chop was exquisite and the flourless chocolate cake was possibly the best I’ve had in town. We would return, as long as it was a less busy evening.
Way too noisy. If sitting away from the bar area it was noisy.
Brought some work buddies and an out of town guest. Service was great, food superb, view wonderful. Great place to bring a guest.
Had a lovely meal with Portland dining month! Great food and view. Only complaint was a large group was squeezed in behind us so the noise level got louder than usual. Still a wonderful evening.
Our server was excellent and the food is always delicious.
Great food, valet parking, spectacular view. The tradeoff was the noise level made it hard to hear.
Great service and ambience.. would like more vegetables in the apetizer section... salads are excellent
We had a great time! The pretzel appetizer was delicious, and they had a special cauliflower soup that was absolutely amazing! The wild mushroom risotto was just okay, but the New York Sirloin was tasty with creamy mashed potatoes and grilled brussel sprouts. Overall great experience!
Great meal as usual,, but sad that happy hour only available in the bar
I found a bone and cartilage in my salad. I think that’s speaks for itself.
Wonderful service though.
We just love this place. We generally seem to go when there is an event at Moda and its always very crowded, but for good reason. No matter how busy it is, the staff are always very helpful and attentive. I don't know how they do it, but we are impressed each time we come. The food is wonderful and great beer selection. Thank you!
Valentine’s day Date. very Romantic with the oregon convention center and the two glass buildings lit purple and blue. it was nice
Tavern is a little noisy, but the food was great and the service attentive. Although we were a little late due to traffic we were still seated. The mussels were a good appetizer. I had the baked chicken and the sauce was excellent. My husband enjoyed the risoto, but preferred my chicken.
Just a great night and outstanding service.
I usually go for lunch with a group to Altabira. The food is always great and service is just right.
Our 1st time and it was the perfect set up for the Seger concert at Moda- we parked at the venue, made the short walk to Altabira for a delicious meal. The place was packed (we had reservations) but we never felt rushed to finish up. Extremely pleased with the entire experience!
The service was wonderful and we had such a good time! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants amazing food and great service!
The view, the food, the service, were all exceptional. My only complaint is that it's also trying to be a hotel bar, so there are big TVs around the bar and they reflect off the glass windows and really cheapen the whole place. It's also noisy, but I think they could fix that with some acoustic tiles.
The steak was fantastic.
I was in town on business and a little Geocaching. I was staying at the Marriott across the street and was looking for something interesting. My search came up with this restaurant. Nice, since I could easily walk to it. After I found the restaurant, took a bit the first time since it is on the top floor of a local hotel, I had a very enjoyable dinner with a glass of Oregon wine that I did not have to pay an arm and a leg for, nice!
I liked the food, view and wait staff so much I came back for a second meal, and again, I was not disappointed!
Thanks for the great experience and I will be back when I am in the area.
Great spot for pre-blazers game dinner. Close to Rose Garden.
Food was great and easy to get to Moda Center. We would have ordered twice as many drinks if service was faster.
Grabbed lunch here after the auto show at the Convention Center. Great view of the city and very good service. Noise level was low but we got there at one o’clock so most of lunch crowd was gone. My wife’s salad was okay; nothing special. I ordered the meatball sandwich. Big mistake. Three small meatballs covered in cold cheese served on a rolled that was like a rock. We would probably try this place again if in the neighborhood but I would certainly try something different.
The view and ambience was great. Even though it’s a rather smaller menu, the food was amazing!
The three of us went for a birthday lunch. Two of us had the special Cubano sandwich and the third member had the pork sliders. All the food was good and presented in an attractive manner, although the portions were smaller than expected for the price. We were disappointed that there weren't more salad salad options and that there wasn't more creativity displayed with the entrees. We also shared two deserts which were fantastic: some of the best that we've had recently. Service was excellent. If you're staying in the Hotel Eastlund, attending an event at the Expo Center or the Moda Center or work in the Lloyd Center area, this is excellent lunch option and probably good for happy hour and dinner as well. Most tables have nice city views, although there is construction going up around the hotel. We came over from the West side and probably wouldn't make the trek again, just for lunch.
Very nice spot and great location. Food was wonderful, ambiance perfect, the view lovely, and service a 10.
If you’re looking for a place to just hang or a place to get dressed and go out, Altabira can accommodate you/your party.
My girlfriends and I had s wonderful time.
We conducted a business lunch at Altabira and what a great experience. The service was great, the food divine, and the view stunning. I had the pear and gorgonzola salad, which was perfectly proportioned and worth the value. Would definitely recommend.
