The setting and the food as well as the service were excellent, however it took us a half hour to find parking on the street as the hotel did not have room for us to park. Even thought I called to say we were trying to park, I came home after dinner to find a message from the restaurant saying I had been a no show! The person greeting us was at the best unfriendly (the person with me thought she was rude) but the server was cheerful and quick even though she had a large table to cover as well as two additional tables. IF one could park without a problem I would return, but I probably won't because of the hassle we had and the unpleasant welcome once we got to the restaurant.
Nice place to eat! Reserving a table really improves the experience. My wife and I went before a blazer game, the place was noisy (not a problem for us). My grandparents wouldn’t have been able to hear. Great service and the food was good! My wife and I both ordered a steak... mine was about half the size, beware the portions are on the smaller end. The food presented well and tasted good!
Drinks were slow in coming, got my drink wrong once. Food was hit or miss, mine was great but I tasted others meals and they were just ok.
Wonderful dinner. We like to take advantage of Portland Dining Month to try out new places. This was fantastic!
We went for the restaurant dining month special, it was good but maybe a little underwhelming. So I wonder if their regular menu would have wowed me more.
Beautiful views and a lovely ambiance. The entrees were just okay. The mussels were really good as was the chocolate peanut butter dessert.
It's always nice to know you can rely on a restaurant to be excellent when entertaining friends. Altabira is always the best.
My wife and I love this place! Because we reserved with open table, we were unable to sit in the bar and enjoy there happy hour. They refused to accommodate us because of the way we reserved our table. The restuarant was not full and the bar was 1/2 empty. This was lame. I will never use the app again because of it.
What a delight! Got a great table!
Great place to go before an event at the convention center. Food was a little over priced. Great service!
Delicious food in a cool spot! Perfect place for Valentines Day
We had a great dinner, and good drinks while enjoying the beautiful view of the city. It was a busy night, and we had plenty of time to talk while we waited to place our food order. I think our server was just very busy, and didn't intend on making us wait. Other than that it was a fantastic experience.
Dined on Valentines Day. We were seated early for our reservation. Service was quick and friendly. Food was excellent.
Their lunch menu and value is pretty decent but going here on Valentine's Day was a huge mistake.
If you're going to advertise a Wagyu Steak, don't bloody marinate the thing so it comes out looking like a pot-roast made in a slow cooker.
The dining section wasn't what I expected.....thought it would be a little bit more separated from the bar area. Not what I had in mind for Valentine's dinner. Kayla, our server, was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Food was good. We would definitely keep it in our rotation for a more casual dinner.
Will not recommend any more for business or personal. Server was great but that is all. Parking and staff at the hotel reception was terrible .
We stayed at the Hotel Eastlund and frequented Altabira three times. Excellent food and service.
The food was very well flavored,, but lukewarm.
We had a great dinner at Altabira City Tavern last week. We visited our son in Portland OR and everything was perfect. We had the primo corner table with a view of the city. Our server, Rachel was so personable and efficient. Our dinners were excellent- lobster dumplings, Lamb Ragu bolognese pasta and Black Cod. This is really a great restaurant and a wonderful reason to stay in the Hotel Eastlund.
Great view of the city and a cool outside patio. Loved it.
Love this place. It’s great food, great service, great setting and ambience.
Good food. Great service and a million dollar view at a fair price.
Everything was satisfactory......good but no longer very good to great....the portions are smaller and the Wagu steak was way over marinated/seasoned....something one does with a tough cheaper cut of beef! It was not that busy but we had to wait a long time for service!?? We will return but not as often .
The service could be better. The food had interesting concepts but the delivery wasn’t there. Overall, it was overpriced for the quality and delivery.
The food is amazing here and the atmosphere even when it’s raining is wonderful. Highly recommend!
The happy hour menu food was fine and the service was great. The meal in the dining room was not so good. may return for happy hour someday, but definitely not the dinner menu.
Really lovely service and delicious food!
Service was good. Food was good. Drinks were good. Everything was good but not great. Overall it was a nice experience.
Great views, very clean and wait staff were very attentive.
Our waiter was inattentive with us - never once asked how the meal was - and at one point tossed the menus on the table so we could preview dessert options as he rushed off to another table. All the staff seemed rushed and were very impersonal. The salad we shared was delicious. We ordered 2 of the dinner specials: pan seared salmon. Both of us agreed that the meal was not worth the hefty $30 price per plate. The salmon was fishy tasting and did not pair well with the other flavors - like cranberry - on the plate. Very disappointing service, meal, and overall experience.
While I did like the view, our server was awful. Very inattentive. Took forever for him to greet me. Didn't ask if I wanted an alternative to the drink they didn't have. He never picked up our bill. Had to ask another waitstaff to run our cards. That person WAS nice.
Pretentious and lackluster...
The view is amazing, the food was fine and so was the service. But the NOISE!! It was painfully loud. I was looking forward to a good visit, but it was impossible.
Great food and atmosphere with friendly service. Knowledgeable bar staff regarding the beers on tap.
We had reservations for two but we were 15 minutes late due to bad traffic. When we checked in with the host, it was no problem! He seated us right away even though the place was crowded. We were surprised when our waitress turned out to be someone we knew. Food and drinks came relatively quickly and we had a good experience.
Went with a party of 8. Service was terrific. Views were terrific. Food was good. Only complaint is our 1 GF person had a very hard time being accommodated. I was hoping to come back next month with the same group but she veto'd it. Too bad. Otherwise, highly recommended!
French fries as an appetizer were not very good. We think we got the remains of batch not nice cut fries. Otherwise food was fine.
Fun place. Pretty busy usually and was again last Friday night, but our server was so excellent. Dude was attentive and helpful and helped make my daughter’s belated birthday night special. Food was solid and drinks exceptional.
Had prior reservations to arriving. Due to MODA popular concert, the tavern was packed. They tried to seat my party of 2 & had some delay in doing so. They should have had more wait staff as once seated it took 20 minutes to get our initial drink order. Then another 10 min. to take our food order meaning we were already seated 30 min. before order taken. Because we observed orders were taking an extraordinary amount of delivery time, we ordered soup and salad. That took another 20 minutes to delivery rushing us to meet our concert time.
Food and drinks generally excellent, as is their Happy Hour. Volume is not generally as crowded but mgmt should anticipate and plan staff both wait and kitchen prep accordingly.
The Tavern was fantastic! The food was marvelous! It did seem a bit short staffed because it took too long to get our drinks.
Great food and staff Will go back Will tell friends
