Alpenglow Stube Ratings and Reviews
We were quite pleased with our dinner here. We did the tasting menu, and for $115 per person we were able to eat fantastically tasty food, and much more of it than you would traditionally receive at a tasting. Apparently the menu changes weekly based on what’s available, which was neat to hear. Service was phenomenal, and we would definitely go back.
Incredible dinner with even better service. I had only been here once years ago as a kid and I left an impression. My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner and experience. James was our server and he did an incredible job for us, even when he had to explain several things a few times to us. It was a great time, James even educated us on desert wine! He had vast information on all kinds of different wines! I highly recommend. We will be back once a year, a new tradition!
Wonderful place. Took my wife and two daughters there as a special meal during our vacation. Staff was perfect and very accomodating to the kids. Dessert was absolutely phenomenal. Recommend this to anyone vacationing in the Keystone area and appreciates a one-of-a-kind dinner venue.
This excellent restaurant known for being the highest elevation in the lower 48 states located at the top of Keystone Mountain Range. It takes not one, but two gondola rides and is well worth it! Needless to say, the winter scenic view is breathtaking along with the fine dining experience.
Highly recommend this outstanding experience!
Fantastic meal and evening! I had the chef’s tasting as well as the wine pairing. The wine pairing was amazing and the sommelier was great, very knowledgeable and helpful. The entire staff was wonderful. My wife chose from the regular menu and it was also fantastic. Overall we would highly recommend the Alpenglow Stube!
Wonderful Experience! A must for the experience.
Top notch! The menu changes frequently.
I was hoping for a nice steak & the steak offered wasn’t my preference (filet)- my only disappointment.
Gondola ride (w/blankets), coat check, slippers!
Four course meal- outstanding!
Dined as a family of 4 whilst whilst staying in Keystone and had a wonderful night. Kids are aged 3 and 6 so went with the first booking at 530. Expected to be the only ones in the restaurant at that time but plenty of tables occupied and then continued to fill as the night went on.
Even though we've been riding the gondola all week, both kids and parents enjoyed the novelty of doing it in the evening and with the warm blankets. Caught a great sunset on the way up too which was nice. Views from up high at Keystone are magnificent - a nice surprise on our first visit.
The atmosphere fit my image of western US mountain ranch, but in an upscale way - white tablecloths etc. There is a cosy little side bar where we waited to be seated. Tables are large and very spaced out - huge room. Great open kitchen which kids were interested to see at work between courses.
Staff were great with well behaved kids (phew). There was a 3 course kids menu that went down very well - fruit bowl to start, steak and salmon for mains and then ice-cream sundae. Kids also received the amuse bouche and intermezzo courses which were enjoyed. We were unsure about taking the kids to this one but were very glad we did - we always felt that the kids were welcome and it was a special meal to enjoy with them.
Parents also went a la carte (the 7 course menu would be a bit long for the kids) and very much enjoyed the meal - the lobster bisque, NY strip wagyu and espresso cheesecake being memorable highlights (with 6 year old also taking fair share of each of those!)
Fortunate have the advice of a brilliant sommelier who guided us to some interesting American options based on our familiarity with other wine regions.
Price was commensurate with expectations - not cheap, but fair value.
Overall, it was a great experience we'd strongly recommend to other visitors in Keystone who enjoy fine dining.
Aspenglow Stube is a decent restaurant because of the location. You are on top of a ski slope overlooking the mountain.
Regarding the food, it is above average, but it is hard for me to give it the "4 diamond" rating that it claims on the menu.
The kids meals were generous portions, but they charge you $15 for a kids meal. The chili and upscale grilled cheese sandwich that I ordered were OK, but what was truly outstanding was the tri-tip steak that my wife ordered. She loved it even though the sides that came with the steaks were subpar.
Even though the food was a little above average, the service was outstanding. The waiters were kind and attentive and the somalier wine expert was very knowledgeable. However, it should be noted that it took 35-40 minutes to get our food, even though the restaurant was only half full.
We will definitely be returning to this restaurant for the experience and steak alone, however if it wasn't because of the location it would be hard for me to recommend to others.
The service was great from the host, waiter and sommelier. We really enjoyed the slippers on arrival. Had a great bottle of wine that paired well with the food. My only suggestions for improvement would be slightly less time waiting for our entrees and a little bigger portions.
Great location, but that is about it. Had a reservation but still waited 20 minutes to be seated in nealy vacant dining room. Service was slow and when food arrived orders incorrect. The food was overall good once received, in particular braised lamb and squash ravioli.
Our eveing here could only be summed up in one word...ethereal! From the cool 30+ minute gondola rides (blankets provided) up the mountain at night to the warm fuzzy slippers supplied by The Stube upon request and the wonderful meal, this was a memory-producing night for my wife and me. The bartender who we met at the cozy bar to wait for our table was great (BTW, he makes a fabulous Manhattan !). Our waiter Andrew, was always spot on and was at ur table on an as-needed basis which showed his level of professionalism. The wine steward Brooks, was excellent! Being a wine guy myself, we hit it off immediately and he found us a gem to accompany our dinner. The whole experience was one that we will always cherish. Thanks to all at Alpenglow Stube for providing us with a wonderful holiday expereince. Cheers!
This was our fifth visit in 15 years. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation time although we were “compensated” with a glass of wine. The food was cold and the service was so-so. The bill was astronomical for this six-course experience. Poor management, out of control. Recommend seating blocks of time like 6-8:00 pm. Our dinner was rushed to meet the last call for the gondola.
Really fun, unique experience going up 2 gondolas to get there. We went on Christmas with our adult family members. Great food. Make sure the second gondola is ready before you leave the bottom. They made us wait outside in the blowing snow instead of letting us inside to wait for the second gondola for at least 5-10 minutes everyone was freezing by the time they arrived at the top ! Otherwise everything was great!
Journey to location made this an experience to remember. We enjoyed slippers provided to wear during meal. Portions were embarrassingly tiny, food was ok, not amazing (soup was only dish that was delicious) & missing special touches e.g. butter was rock hard, bread not warm, lamb was consistency of tunafish, needed chisel to eat cheesecake, server unable to provide advice about wine & no sommelier. View of ski slope was average-perhaps on a clearer day it might have been better? We had high expectations & arrived willing to pay for special experience but found value too disappointing to recommend.
I really enjoyed our dining experience at the Alpenglow Stube for our 24th wedding anniversary. I read all the reviews before we went and I'm not sure what the ones that had a bad experience were complaining about. It can take several hours for a full meal experience but I think that's part of the fun! The food was overall promptly served and nicely presented. Our server was excellent and very attentive. It is expensive, but again I think you know that ahead of time going here. Overall, I would highly recommend going to the Alpenglow Stube.
The ride up on the gondola in the dark and cold with a blanket was pretty unique and romantic. Once we arrived, we checked our coats in and were offered slippers to wear instead of wearing our snow boots which was a really nice touch. We sat down at the four seat bar where there was another couple sitting, talking to the bartender. The bartender never once greeted us, offered a menu, nor even acknowledged our existence. That put us off so we got up and we’re promptly seated. The hostess was real polite and knowledgeable which helped with the bartender’s rudeness. The waiter was very polite and knowledgeable along with the rest of the staff. They were on top things for the most part. The food for the most part was bland, dry, or over cooked. Honestly though I didn’t expect much because of the remoteness and novelty of the place. Dessert was the best part. Overall though I would recommend it for a romantic outing or a special occasion. It’s more about the overall experience than being wowed by the expensive food.
This place is Amazing! The ride up in the Gondala is beautiful! Worth the ride! Our table wasn’t ready when we got there so they gave us our first round of drinks for free. Once we were seated very cozy and romantic setting. The bartender was very friendly and helpful! It took a long time to get each course of the meal out. That was the only bad thing. Other than that amazing!! Great staff and very friendly! Beautiful place! Love the menu made just for us with our name on it!
We had a 7:45 PM reservation, arrived at 7:50, and were not seated until after 8:45. We didn't receive bread until after 9:15! One reason the bread was late was that it was fresh baked, but it was not as good as the bread at upscale chains such as Brio or Capital Grille.
The food was good, but…
The pasta served with the rabbit was the best I've ever had. The pork, though, was not hot when it arrived at the table. I'd have sent it back if we'd not been at the restaurant for over two hours already!
I suspect the staff is short-handed, but that's no excuse when attempting a fine dining experience. The effort spent on the customized welcome parchment could have been profitably applied elsewhere.
The food and atmosphere at Aplenglow are spectacular. Bring your wallet as it is quite pricey. Our visit on 12.9.17 while a great time did feature some service that was slower than expected and it's a restaurant where you expect to dine at a very relaxed pace. We will be back as we own at Keystone and it is one of the exceptional dining experiences in the area.
The atmosphere of Alpenglow Stube was amazing. Very attentive and courteous to our party of 6, which included 3 children. Food was great. My husband got the Wagyu steak and I got the mahi mahi. The only reason I rated the food 4 stars was because I found a lot of bones in my mahi mahi. We informed our waiter just so he could alert the kitchen to check other orders of the mahi mahi that were being served. My brother in law also had the mahi mahi and had no bones in his. The manager came to our table and apologized and took care of my meal (even though I told him it wasn't necessary.) Overall, it's an experience everyone should try if they visit Keystone. It is a little on the pricey side, but worth it.
