Was expecting an amazing meal. Friends recommend this restaurant to us but they recently changed the menu. Food was ok and service was poor. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks and over an hour to be served our appetizers. There was a large loud group that was extremely disruptive. It was nearly impossible to have a conversation over their cackles. The restaurant was cold - We will never go back.

What a failure! This used to be a classy, dress up experience. But they changed it to an a la carte, casual thing. Added loudspeakers even. What a loss...time to look elsewhere for a fine dining experience.

Very disappointed as we have been to this restaurant many times when it was truly fine dining but no longer is. Checking in to get your table was a chore. They were items on the menu that were not available. Five course and seven course we’re no longer being served. $17 salad was small about 4 inches across. Main entrée of halibut was served only warm. Salmon not available. No linen tablecloth and no salad fork provided. No warm bread was provided as in the past. Our seating area was very cold and heat registers apparently didn’t work. Our server did an excellent job in spite of the challenge presented to him. The bathrooms no longer had towels or Kleenex. Only blow dryers. Bathrooms no longer had the nice amenities Like cloths and mouthwash. Manager did not check with us to see how the meal was going. There appeared to be no manager present.

To those that are offering subpar reviews for this restaurant, I have no idea where you ate but it wasn’t here! The service from the moment you walk in was amazing. They made sure you had a drink while your table was prepared. The menu selection was fantastic. My husband and I both had the beer cheese soup, shared the fingerling potatoes, and had the special entree of the day, duck breast over a mushroom risotto. Everything was so delicious!!! The server (Chris) was very attentive and we never went without anything or had to wait very long for our next course. Everyone was super personable and made sure when we left we had a hot beverage and blanket for the ride down. Thank you so much to Sam, Chris, and Charlie!! We had an amazing night and you guys are doing a phenomenal job! We can’t wait to come back!!!

The 4-diamond, AAA experience was falsely advertised. The current offerings are not only unoriginal, but poorly executed. This was once a truly luxury experience, but in 2018 it is a tremendous disappointment.

We dined on the first day of the season and we’re shocked by the MASSIVE menu change, went from $$ to $! All the foodie entrees are gone...who wants a $16 burger with an expensive bottle of wine?! If we had known of the menu change we would not have come...apparently the Staff was told just a few days prior to opening. However, the service was excellent and very much appreciated.

We have gone to the Stube for the last two years and we were expecting a Michelin 4 star experience this year as we have had in the past. With a very limited menu ( and many of those selections unavailable), lack of linen, and the removal of lounge furniture in the bar/reception area, the only thing that didn't change was the price. This left us completely disappointed since we were expecting the same experience we had enjoyed previously. The food we had was good, and the waitstaff was excellent, but the special ambiance of the Alpenglow Stube has been removed. We will not be back.

They Changed the Menu and was very disappointed. Was looking forward to the 5 course meal menu and they did away with it. I feel it is changed to more of a family restaurant, and not a fine dining like it used to be. Will probably not go back again.

We had a fabulous dinner at Alpenglow Stube. The ride up in the gondolas is fun, watch for elk & deer. The care that the staff takes of each table is super. We were at first disappointed that stube had done away with much of their wine list, but our waiter, Jeff, was knowledgeable and we were happy with the bottle we chose. Our meal was the best that we have had at Alpenglow Stube. We will be back for a winter meal, I hope!

Overall we had a good meal and the trip up/back to the restaurant was amazing! We saw 3 moose and a beautiful sunset on the way back down. The disappointment was the service, especially for the price point of the meal. Our server told us how he has been there for 12 yrs so we were expecting great service. He barely checked on us & never offered fresh pepper for our $60 entrees. When we did request it he seemed annoyed and told us how busy he was, they were short staffed and had servers that had never worked the dinner shift working...not our problem and this should not effect us like it did not should we be told this. We had told him that my friends zucchini side for her steak was burnt and he said he would tell the kitchen, never offered to replace it or resurrect the situation, again a complete disappointment in service and definitely some re-training is needed. You should not be paying over $600 for a meal for 4 and not have top knotch service.

This is a sweet lodge restaurant in a stunning setting and service is excellent. However, the food is truly their downfall. First- portion sizes: the waiter assured us that the restaurant specialized in a full, four course experience and thus portions were created with four courses in mind (not too big) we ordered 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert and ended up with WAY WAY too much food. Further, most entrees are about $50. They would be better off serving half the size entree at half the price if they actually want to achieve a comfortable 4 course dining experience. Second- the food itself: major issues on the quality of food here. Very over composed dishes with few interesting flavors, absolutely atrocious dessert we could not even eat. A more simple menu, that could be well executed and with more thoughtful portion sizing and pricing would help this place immensely.

This is too bad as this restaurant should be better due to the location and experience on top of the mountain. It just seems like they do not care. They did not have campari for the cocktail that I ordered, they way over-cooked the foie gras and their wine menu pricing was all screwed up. Overall the food was just not that good or interesting. There are way better bets in the area (Keystone Ranch, Vinny's or Relish)...

Overpriced for what you get. Bar isn’t stocked unless you drink scotch. The two main entrees were barely edible due to sauces and accompaniments. Cool view and gondola ride but not worth it.

Very very bad!!!
Today the food was subpar and very disappointing first meal was “Apple and Fennel Stuffed Pork Chop” the chop was over cooked and tuff to eat. 2nd meal was “Veal Schnitzel” the veal was over cooked and tuff, any German restaurant will make a better veal dish. This meat was from of a animal to old to be called veal.
The only beef on the menu was “Wood Fired Hanger Steak” $55.
Great quality food is long remembered and price forgotten, but poor quality food at high price is not forgotten or forgiven.
We have dine at this restaurant many times in the years that we ski Keystone it was a AAA Four Diamond not one Diamond today.
After leaving the stube the couple that was seated at the next table was on the Gondola, they were celebrating 50 wedding anniversary, they also felt the food was very bad they spent $200 for it. We spent over $100. I was celebrating my 77 birthday special diner for my Birthday. No one replied to my complaint, I did leave phone #'s and email.

The Alpenglow Stube is one of the finest restaurants we have ever been to. It exists on the top of the mountain at Keystone Ski area. The ambiance and service is incredible. Some of the menu items have changed with a new chef. We missed our favorite blue crab salad which is no longer available. Hopefully it will return, it was extra special. It is the most romantic restaurant in the universe, and of course it is way out located over 10,000 feet up in the stunning Rocky Mountains.

During a recent stay at the Keystone resort, we wanted to have a special dinner at the AlpenglowStube because of its reputation for excellent food and wonderful atmosphere.
Other than the food itself, it was a lovely dinner.
The gondola rides to the top of the mountain were fun and gave us great views. Upon our (early) arrival we were greeted by the host, who took out coats and seated us in the bar area until our table was ready.

Unfortunately, some of our meal options were very disappointing. Gristle in the veal chop made it inedible, and the crust on our dessert tart was too tough to cut. The entree selections of the other 2 diners in our party were satisfactory but certainly not as delicious as expected.

The service, however, was excellent. We had a wonderful waiter, who was knowledgeable, pleasant, and efficiently attentive. When told about the entree, he apologized, removed the charge from the check, and informed the chef.

Based on our experience I would be very hesitant to recommend this restauant to a friend. The meal itself was very disappointing, and even more so, considering the prices and the restaurant's rating.

What a beautiful setting the restaurant has - the gondola ride made the dinner feel extra special, and the views from the windows make it feel like a refined outpost in a gorgeous natural setting. Although we arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation and the restaurant was empty save three tables, the host had us wait until our reservation time to seat us, which made for an awkward wait. The food was fairly good for fine dining, though more 'standard fine fare' and less creative/interesting/novel. For the price, I would say the food was marginal. The atmosphere is the crutch of this restaurant and makes the whole experience feel more special. I probably wouldn't have written a review except to share that our server was absolutely awful. She appeared to have no experience in the service industry and made the meal feel awkward; uninformed and seemingly uninterested in the food (constantly reading in monotone from her notes), over-explaining the obvious (like how to use the menu to choose the food that we wanted to eat for the evening), and not helping meaningfully with choices. It was not what I've come to expect in a fine dining experience.

The ride to the restaurant and the views from the restaurant were fabulous. Sunset and a glass of wine seated by the window is what it’s all about. Unfortunately, the food is mostly average and everything was way too salty the night we dined. It would have been a perfect evening if the food had matched the view., but this is an experience place and not really a foodie spot.
