Aloha Steakhouse - Ventura Ratings and Reviews
Our server, Peter, really made our visit to Aloha Steakhouse a special one. Yes, the food was good (the crab and lobster were a bit meh, but the coconut shrimp, fish & chips, and prime rib were fantastic) and the drinks excellent, but the extra attention to detail and personalized service he offered really went above and beyond! There were several LARGE groups in house this evening, and yet, we were always well-taken-care-of. I would highly recommend, and look forward to revisiting myself the next time I'm in Ventura for a special occasion.
Very nice dining experience. Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic sunset ocean view. Excellent service by Jason. Enjoyed my grilled sea bass, hubby had the ribeye and liked it as well. They gave a complimentary slice of macadamia nut ice cream pie for my b-day.
They also have a very nice happy hour. Highly recommend Aloha!
Outstanding Oceanview, Super Service, Fair Food, Extremely Expensive, Horrendous Hostess
Aloha is located between a 3 story parking garage and 12 story hotel right on the ‘boardwalk’ at Ventura Beach. Its main attraction is the ocean. Our server was excellent and attentive to our needs. My wife and I shared an appetizer of Thai Mussels (the coconut sauce was so salty we could not eat it) and each had Spicy Ahi Tuna (spicy it was not; tasteless it was, so, again, we ate but half). Over $50 per person (tip and tax included, but no drinks, no dessert). We would not return because of the incredibly unprofessional hostess (so as not to impugn anyone else who works at Aloha in that capacity, this was Saturday evening, February 3).
We live in LA and our son lives in Ventura. He has a busy work schedule so trying to visit for lunch or dinner can be a challenge at times. We have come to really love the Aloha Steak House due to it's convenience for our son, wonderful seaside setting (you get out of your car and the ocean smell that we love is immediate), great food, excellent service and not too costly.
Plus we also know to get there a little early to walk along the seaside promenade that is adjacent to the restaurant. Parking is validated. All in all makes for a great experience and worth the drive. Have been there for both lunch and dinner and the quality never wavers. Will definitely return.
A great time to go early on Sunday, off season, you'll get seating at the boardwalk windows. We had a very good time and enjoyed some equally good food. Wait time was minimal and service was excellent. I can recommend the macadamia crusted white roughy, moist and delicious. Enjoy!
This was our first time dining at Aloha Steakhouse. We have friends who have recommended the restaurant and decided to give it a try. We enjoyed the food and the service. Our server gave us just the right amount of attentiveness. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the wine list was very robust. We will definitely return.
We'd never been to the restaurant, but decided to try it out for my birthday. It was a great choice. Our server was outstanding, the food was so good, and the ambiance was just right (busy but not crazy, perfect noise level). I'd recommend the wedge salad and the lobster tail!
Food was mediocre but tolerable however, the waiter we had clearly exhibited poor customer service. He was very argumentative, almost in a threatening way. We ended up asking to speak w/ the shift manager. We told Ryan the manager, we were there to eat and enjoy our weekend and not for Calvin to argue and scold us!
As always Aloha Steakhouse was superb, this visit however even exceeded my expectations. Peter the waiter is outstanding he has excellent knowledge of the menu, very knowledgeable of the various Waze our dishes could be prepared, and an outstanding knowledge of the wine list and recommendations hats off the Aloha Steakhouse once again.
Me and my wife went here for a rare date night away from the kids. Place was real busy because of Saturday night. Took quite a while just to get bread and water to the table (not the server fault other people dropping the ball) But our server Peter was AWESOME he kept making sure to recheck with us often as he could refilling drinks and even comped a hula pie which was amazing. Hands down the best sever I have ever had in any restaurant. We will definitely be back because of the great food and amazing service despite the business.
I have to say when I looked up romantic waterfront places to eat, this was the first one that popped up. I made a reservation for 2 by the water. We got there and were seated by the biggest loudest table of people drinking. 3 ladies had to keep getting up and blocking whatever romantic view of the water there was. We ordered appetizers, steak to split, and some drinks. When we were done we were getting dessert for our anniversary. It was bananas foster, except our server forgot to mention that we were under a fan and had to go to by the big loud table. I asked her can you stop the fan. I go the whole point of bananas foster, is to see them very lit up. I should have just canceled the order. She seemed so put out by me asking her to do it by our table. I was really hoping for a romantic night, but instead got a party with drunks.
Thanks for ruining our 12th anniversary

I brought my wife here for our 16th wedding anniversary. It had been ages since we'd been on anything like a date. Overall, it was very worthwhile. This establishment knows how to cook steak. They serve a truly wonderful green salad with the entrees. Not just some skimpy, boring afterthought. Service was fast paced but effective and pleasant. The atmosphere is a bit on the higher decibel side, but that just encouraged us to snuggle closer in our booth in order to talk, which suited me just fine.
Despite being very busy when we arrived, our Open Table reservation had us seated right away. Celebrating our son's birthday. Nice booth, great food and Leann, our server, was excellent in both service and warm personality. Even had time to take a nice walk along the water prior to dinner as it was a beautiful evening. Validated parking as well. Will definitely return.
Not only is the food the freshest steaks and fish, but you are treated better than family here as well!
Ryan (manager) and Sharnell (Co-Founder) teamed up to welcome our family of 4 and found a great booth with a view inside. They politely and professionally checked on us and shared some great local stories and history as well!
Our server Calvin was professional, courteous and expeditious!
We cant wait to come back once we are in the area!
We drove 3 hours from OC to dine here.
If you are gonna dine here, get here early and make reservations for it gets busy after 7pm.
We enjoyed the place a lot , food good , servers and bartenders great , and hosts all very cool . Only problem is we were seated between two obscenely loud and intoxicated " parties " . When will restaurants learn that sometimes they need to try and " remind " some people that they are not the only people around , difficult , but it CAN be done . I've been a bartender ,food and beverage manager - the works - and it takes effort , but you OWE this to the patrons .
We had a great birthday celebration at the Aloha Steakhouse. There were 8 in our party ranging in age from 4 to 84. Our waitress and the overall service was exceptional. She kept up with all of goofy requests from our group. We requested and received a wonderful table on the enclosed patio overlooking the Ventura beach and boardwalk.
The food was pretty good but not nearly up to the level of the service. Some items were better than others. The baked potatoes were awesome!
I highly recommend the Aloha Steakhouse. Their service made our evening great!
Overall, a decent place, (we've been there in the past, too), but this time, unfortunately, they undercooked my wife's steak, and then when they had to broil it some more, they OVERCOOKED it, and at that, they took a long time to bring it back out! To their credit, the manager, Ryan, came over and apologized, and they took that dinner off our bill, and even comped us a dessert to go (though it turned out to be the wrong dessert, when we got it back to the hotel!)
I think they TRY to do a good job, and much of the food was great; our server, Leanna, seemed very conscientious, and perhaps the busy Friday night dining scene just overwhelmed the restaurant. I would give it another try.
Great waterfront location. Wasn't crowded, although the county fair was going on. Traffic was a nightmare, but staff were very flexible with out arrival time. Location was great for weird people watching. The beach setting is always good for eccentric people 😀. Food was decent, but drinks were way too expensive.
Two of us had dinner here on a summer Sunday night. We ordered two apps, split an entree, Hula pie (of course!) and couple glasses of wine and beer. Food was all delicious- the ahi wontons and sea bass special were standouts. Service was friendly and attentive. Easy access from the public parking structure next to the pier. The negatives: the decor is dated and could use updating, and the prices were pretty steep. If they would invest in an update but deliver the same food it would go from good to great!
