Excellent food. Rich and complex flavors, home made, and absolutely delicious. Armenian and Lebanese kitchen is intense. Food preparation is quite time consuming. These culture revere great food and willing to invest the time to endure high quality. Almayass is an authentic expression of the rich history and traditions of these ancient of cultures!
Really great experience. Excellent food and service. Expensive, but worth it.
Great experience with excellent service! Very professional!
Excellent, well-cooked and well-spiced middle eastern food. Very helpful waiter in ordering process left us all full and happy but not stuffed.
As always, Almayass is a treat. The restaurant is pretty, the staff attentive and the food interesting, well prepared and it makes for a nice change from the usual eating out experience.
And Mario, the host, makes his way from table to table, charming diners and making sure that everything is perfect.
The best Mediterranean food all around!!
V good, authentic food. Excellent service and pleasant ambiance.
Great food, great service, great ambiance
Very friendly, professional service. A little slow when busy.
Excellent - great food and service
Overall great experience. Service at the bar and table were excellent. The waiter gave us great recommendations to order and he food was excellent.
Really enjoyed the restaurant. Great food. A nice refreshing change from your typical "new american", italian, or other fine dining restaurants.
Perfect ! Good Food. True authentic and very tasty. Well prepared and a good place to spend a couple of hours eating and trying different dishes. The suggestions are also good. It is really pricey but if you want to eat well and have the best of best dishes then know you are going to eat well.
Almayass continues to be our favorite restaurant in the city! The food and the service are wonderful and the art work makes the ambiance unique!
A reservation for 18 with only one weeks notice in NY is nerve wracking - this restaurant was really good - their service excellent. We were not forced into a fixed menu, and still managed to get all the food served at the same time, not an easy ask for such a large group, the food was excellent, their suggestions great.
We loved Almayass! I took my mom and boyfriend here and all three of us were so happy with the experience. It’s kind of hidden away from the busier areas and the restaurant itself though it had plenty of customers was also nice and calm for a Friday dinner. My mom lived/worked in Jordan for a few years so was really excited to see and order a number of her old favorite Middle Eastern dishes on the menu, but we also tried a lot of new things based on the helpful advice from our friendly server. The moutabbal was probably my favorite dinner dish, and then for dessert our unexpected favorite was the Ossmalieh Almayass. The value for the drinks and huge amount of food we got was great as well. Definitely would go back.
Perfect amazing food! Excellent Service! Will defiantly go there again! Unfortunately, the acoustic is really bad, could nearly hear my companions at the table....
Great Mediterranean food and great service. They are incredibly nice/polite and it’s a pleasure to go there. Try their hummus with pine nuts - the mix between smooth and crunchy is perfect!
Outstanding menu. Excellent service. Very much enjoyed our evening. Delicious.
Highly recommend the Ossmalieh Almayass Dessert; A++
We went here for Valentine's Dinner and the experience was simply outstanding. The restaurant was buzzing with great ambience and the interior decoration is stunning.
They had a 4-course pre-set menu which offered substantial portions and great variety. The menu was paired with a glass of wine (I think from Armenia) and it drank perfectly well with the cuisine. Everything was so carefully prepared and of high quality.
The level of hospitality and service at Almayass always impresses. By far this is the most superior Mid-Eastern dining experience in New York.
They decided to have a pri fixe for Valentines Day. The choices they offered were below par. I've eaten here twice with flavorful food. I think they chose inexpensive meals for a costly night (if you aren't getting tasty food.) Everything was bland. My lamb off the bone on rice had no seasoning, and the sauce they brought out was broth that you cook with!! No flavor!! Also they didn't have 1 seafood choice as an appetizer or a main course. It was just very disappointing.
Very Disappointing. Took my husband and his Mom here for Valentine's Day - the menu was $110 prixe fixe - which would have been fine if the food was on par with the Almayass of the past. However, on this occasion, our entrees were dry, overcooked, and bland. Obviously batch-cooked earlier in the day and kept warm. Service was slow (it was an hour before we received our entrees). They messed up our appetizer order, and they sat us at a table in the very back of the restaurant up against a wall and next to a bussing station. Not what I expect for $500.00 I get it, it's Valentine's Day, staff is overworked, people overstay at their tables, etc. but the restaurant was half-empty and we still got warmed-over food and bad service. We used to love Almayass - the food was flavorful and the service was top-notch. It seems to have gone downhill. I hope this train-wreck experience was due to bad planning for Valentine's Day on the part of the management and chef, and not indicative of the state of the restaurant in 2018. My advice is do NOT go here for a holiday or special occasion, you will be disappointed and the hefty price tag will add insult to injury.
I really like the place and the food was delicious, but I think is kind of over priced. The place is nice, service is great and the vibe of the restaurant is cool!
I was worried because the restaurant was barely half full on the night that we went. But I shouldn’t have been! The service was terrific, with a server helping us navigate a new cuisine experience. Everything we ate was delicious.
Everything was excellent! Food, service, drinks. A little more ambiance would help.
Amazing interesting food. Best with a group so you can try lots of different dishes.
Sticking to the Armenian fare, everything was beyond delicious, and accompanied by attentive and friendly service. The place itself is gorgeous.
We tried Almayass for a weekend dinner and we liked it
Food is good and service is excellent
Based on our experience It can get a little loud but we probably just had very rude tables next to us
It’s slightly pricey for what you get but definitely worth trying
Awesome , really an excellent restaurant
Amazing and authentic food. Great cocktails too.
The food and ambiance are great. Servers are really attentive which made our dinner relaxing. Overall, this is a very nice restaurant that I will recommend to my friends.
Nice ambiance, tasty food, smaller portions, prices a bit steep.
It's nice got to come back to this restaurant and eat food that you don't find any place else, but it has gotten very expensive and is not always great. For the price you really want the food to be exceptional.
Everything about our dining experience was superb, and we will return, for sure.
We got the Chef’s Selection to share between three of us. It was a great selection and everyone had more than enough food. We particularly liked the pastry filled with cheese, the salads, the meatball (meat and falafel).
It was an interesting mix of food and I really enjoyed the restaurant. I would go back!
Our foouth time at Almayass. Outstanding as always. We always order several starters for the table. We had for the first time the warm feta which was amazing. Also had our usual favorites: sarma, Armenian salad and Babaganoush. Each had a different main course and were, quite honestly, too stuffed for dessert. The service and ambiance are both impeccable.
I am a big fan of Almayass in Beirut therefore I was very enthusiastic to try the one in New York ! The New York one only shares the name with the one in Beirut! Armenian restaurant has no “itch” on the menu which is the most famous Armenian salad! We were five and ordered few starters to share Hhummus, Muhammara, Moutabbal, tabouleh, su-berek, Kibby Akrass, spicy potato, lentil Kafta. Then we ordered two assorted meat for 2 to share! Alltogether they were the average Lebanese food that you would taste anywhere! Only the The su-berek was very good but the portion is too small and could not be shared! All together everything was very average and pricey considering the portion size!
This is a very special place. Service exemplary with an incredibly attentive staff. The food is both unusual and felt. Mario, part of the ownership, is a great host and observant manager.
