We had a wonderful dinner with friends. Nice cozy casual place. Would go again.
The service was excellent. We showed up with 2 extra people in our reservation and there was no problem. Waite staff very cordial and accommodating. Our food came without to much of a wait and was hot. However, it felt very crowded, the space is small and it was extremely noisy. Had the burger which was good, not great, way to many fries and they were rather overdone. Someone else had the steak and it was tough. Rather tacky decor for the price.
Great little place on whyte with a nice menu. Only thing was they had musicians playing so loud, we couldn't hear and decided to leave early. There was out table of 8 and 2 other tables there the whole night.
A fun restaurant, nice atmosphere, extensive cocktail list (mine was very nice), food was good!
Food was good but the plates needed some garnish. The Lentil Hash was tasty but was more like a side dish rather than main course. Prices were a bit high considering the food. Service was excellent.
We were met with a warm smile. The room is cozy and there is something on the menu for everybody.
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious steak/frites and wine.
Fantastic for Birthdays. This is the 2nd birthday bash we have had here and it good food, great drinks and well priced
Fun and trendy atmosphere, good selection of drinks. Service was fantastic and were accommodating to my allergy. Food however, was somewhat underwhelming. Mushroom cavatappi had fresh ingredients but it was cold and the poached egg was more like a hard boiled egg.
Over priced, a big disappointment.
My burger was suuuuper salty and over cooked (and small) For $17.
We got the Brie and smoked olives, exactly how they sound-nothing exciting or wow! Worthy. It was recommended to me to come to the almanac three years ago and after kids and life getting in the way I finally went. I realize a lot can change in three years in a restaurant-New menu, management, chef-who knows? But it was a pretty big disappointment.
The food and drinks were both delicious! Only complaint I have about the food is that it was a little on the salty side. Great atmosphere though and great service.
Good cocktail variety. Shared dishes from menu were flavourful and a good vale
Almanac is located in the heart of Old Strathcona, close to nice shopping and the Princess theatre. This was my second visit to this restaurant. The first time I thought my meal was spectacular. This time I ordered a burger and fries. I likely will try something different on the menu next time, as the burger was only fine, but the fries were delicious! The cocktail menu is extensive so is a great place to go if that is your thing. The waiter offered great service, was unpretentious and very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a nice experience overall, and I would recommend this restaurant.
This is our favourite restaurant in Edmonton. It’s always an amazing experience.
A nice space. The service was very good. Food was mediocre. My calamari was dry and lacklustre/ probably frozen. Steak frites. Good frites but steak was very tough.
Our party largey had seafood appetizers and they were unbelievably tasteless. Sloppy and indifferent was the general ambience. Big downhill from when it opened.
Very good restaurant, although I was a little disappointed in the Beef tartare being very simple and not very tasty. Something they should keep in mind in adding more spices and maybe some dijon (classic way for a beef tartare). We added it with a side of dijon seeds that the server was happy to brought to our table. Otherwise service was excellent and meet and cheese platter was great to share and delicious. Overall it was a great experience!
Our table was ready when we arrived and the service and food were great.
My only negative comment would be that the waiter wanted us to pay the bill and I hadn’t even finished eating my meal.
Beautiful...great neighborhood gathering....very nice vibe.
This is a hidden gem on white Avenue. Friendly staff took care of us for our business meeting and supper. The food was delicious.
Great cocktails, and entres.. there is good wine to pair with the meal too..!!
Relaxed & comfortable experience
Food was very good. Would have given the experience full stars except for the fact that even though both my daughter and I emailed about her being vegan the only vegan option offered was not available. I would have thought that having given the chef a heads up the ratatouille would have been a choice. Appreciate the fact that they did put something together for her. If more options were offered we would give it another shot.
Went for dinner with family and we loved sitting at the booth with the retractable window so we felt like we were sitting outside, which is awesome on Whyte Avenue. The food was high quality and perfect portions. The Duck Poutine and Baked Brie were exceptional started. Definitely going back.
The staff at the almanac are so friendly and kind! Amazing food, drinks, and atmosphere!
Everything was fantastic, the drinks, the food, and the service. The only downside is how loud Whyte ave is, so I expect this to be a much quieter place once the temperatures drop back down and they close the patio windows.
Girlfriend loved it…. But I came here with my business partners before. It’s a good place to get away from the young kids
Had a very pleasant meal and enjoyed the booth seating with the open doors. We enjoyed a couple dealer choice cocktails which capped the evening off nicely. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others. Thanks again!
Great cocktails... and location is very close to all u need on Whyte ave., will be back AGAIN...!!
The lettuce in the garden salad was mushy. The gnocchi was tasty but not a typical gnocchi dish.
My friends and I enjoyed the great food and ambience at this restaurant. The menu was varied, and each dish we ordered was esthetically pleasing and delicious. It was a pleasant change to not have the music or background noise competing with conversation, so that after we left we had felt we had just enough to eat, and a wonderful visit. I plan to go back!
We have been before and always very impressed. Sadly, brunch was not up to what we have experienced during prior visits.
I had read great reviews over the past couple of years & kept meaning to try Almanac. Maybe my expectations were too high - I pictured more farm to table, interesting flavors. I found the Brussels sprouts heavy (they were apparently deep fried, and tossed in Hollandaise ). My steak tartare was really lacking in flavor & accompaniments. For my veggie fish-eating friend, pickings we’re slim. She went for the ubiquitous salmon, which also had hollandaise on it, so okay if that’s what your after. My husbands lamb shank was nothing special. Overall, okay but underwhelming food-wise. The service, while a little inexperienced, was friendly and attentive.
The tasting menu was amazing!!! Wonderful service, incredible food, great wine pairings. Highly recommended.
I can't say much about the food because we only ordered an appetizer to share, and each had one cocktail. The reason for this...it was so incredibly noisy and uncomfortable, that I couldn't stand to be there any longer than we were. It's a cramped little restaurant. The tables are squished together. You come through the door and you are literally standing right at someone's table. It was very awkward. We made a reservation, and nobody was there to greet us. The bartender did some hand signals in the air to us and basically pointed to a table, meaning SIT there. Ok.
The noise level was unbearable You really need to scream at the person next to you to have a conversation. It was difficult to relax, have a drink and eat a meal due to sensory overload.
I'm sure the menu is probably good, but sadly we won't be back to enjoy it.
We had been there once before and enjoyed it.
This time the food was off and served cold.
Asked for no onions and the meal was loaded with them. The server did not know what the vegetalbles were and didn’t find out.
The lamb tasted off.
Beautiful... Unbelievable cocktails
I've heard that this restaurant was good, but I had no idea it was THIS good! Not only were the prices amazing, but the food was outstanding in taste and quality . The design of the restaurant is very appealing as well, making you feel welcome and comfortable. I've been to a lot of great restaurants in Edmonton and near/on Whyte ave, and consider myself a little bit of a foodie, but the Almanac honestly blew me away. 10/10 would recommend, I'll be coming back here for sure!
I had beef Bourgogne it was good but was a bit fatty. Tasty though. Very accommodating staff and our server was great . We will be back.
For a first time visit with friends, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Though I wished the charcuterie was a bit bigger, it was definitely a nice intro into the evening. Will definitely be back!
