Alma Nove Ratings and Reviews
Three of five entrees were excellent, but the other two were overcooked. Wait staff reached over patrons repeatedly and confused dessert orders. Disappointing for this supposedly high quality restaurant, especially since we were hosting two visitors from France.
What a disappointment. I've never spent so much money on poor to mediocre food. Outside seating and wine by the glass was great. Once the food started coming it was all downhill. Started with the worst calamari I've ever been served, like rubber. Ended with a completely uninspired lobster Carbonara dish that was dry and bland. Never heard of Carbonara that wasn't the slightest bit creamy.
I can't imagine why anyone would go to this place more than once. This was a very special occasion ruined by bad, expensive food. Paul Wahlberg should stick to burgers.
Upon entering the dining room the noise level continued to increase. By the time we reached our booth we had to yell to be heard across the table. After my husband ordered an appetizer the server brought the wrong item because she had misheard him. Having a conversation was very difficult and frustrating.
On a positive note, the server was very helpful with dietary restrictions. They have a gluten free menu and will share whether specials can be prepared gluten free.
The food is good but I'm in no hurry to return. Maybe it's a better experience if one is seated outside. The view is very pretty.
A very pleasant setting, easy parking and fine service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. Most of the adult diners ordered pasta dishes. Generally, the dishes lacked any striking flavor except for the overload of basil - both in sauce and the pasta itself. The childrens' offerings were THE usual and noted no complaints, but little interest. Tiny portions of protein in ALL the dishes were simply too minimal leaving one to re-read the menu - looking for the promises mentioned there. Certainly not on the plate/bowl. All pastas were cooked to a proper finish (al dente). wine list: adequate. Probably won't return.
We went for my 50th birthday dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious. Everything was prepared perfectly. The swordfish was excellent. The crab appetizer was tasty and the salads were great. All of the main dishes were fantastic. Desert was wonderful as well. We will definitely be back if we are back in town again!
The fish had gone bad. The server apologized and took it off the bill but it never should have happened at a restaurant like this. It smelled like pure ammonia - a clear indication the fish was bad. How could the chef not notice? Overall, the meal was off - wonder if a different chef was on because normally everything is really good.
We waited till mid way through our entree to get a glass of wine despite reminding our server numerous times. , service was slow and overwhelmed ,, she said twice I thought I already brought you your wine glass, .. bread was cold and stale......French fries accompanying the fish and chips were greasy and cold..... overall not a good lunch at what usually was a terrific dependable place. ...Disappointing by ever measure!
I really enjoyed this beautiful place, the service was top notch, food was really good. The views are beautiful, a great place to sit out on the patio and enjoy a lovely dinner or just some cocktails and bites. My only bummer was no Wahlberg sighting, which an old Block-head like myself was hoping for. However, it's always just a shot in the dark.
It's a lovely outdoor setting, but their limited umbrellas do not cover the hot sun. They need an awning. The food is excellent. Server brought the checks while we were eating dessert. She should wait until we ask for the check. She never cleared dessert dishes even though she came back to pick up the signed checks. Never refilled our water once she left checks. It's not like they needed the table as there were plenty of open tables.
Having eaten dinner at Alma Nove several times and finding both the food and the service quite good each time, we chose it for a family member's birthday lunch for five. This time we were surprised and very disappointed to find the food, both the cod cake appetisers extremely salty as was a risotto that accompanied one diner's scallops. Two other dishes were found to be overly salty or, in the case of a turkey sandwich, pretty bland. Both the appetizers and the lunch dishes themselves took quite a long time to arrive.
