Alma Nove Ratings and Reviews
Mixed feelings here. The restaurant was lovely inside, but the construction leaves no where to hide from other tables and no noise absorbers...so it was LOUD. If there's one annoying guest in the dining room, everyone there is dining with them. Food was good, drinks were good, but the terrible thing was really the service. Our waiter seemed like he expected a big tip no matter the service, he was not attentive so if we needed anything we waited a long time until he scurried past and we could flag him or another server down, and he downright gave an attitude about drink questions and didn't tell us about the specials unless we asked. Mainly for the service, I won't personally be returning or recommending to friends (you don't get to charge these prices on food and drink, even if they're good, with rude/entitled service).
Beautiful place , great service on a beautiful evening but we were seated outside and wondered why the beautiful boat, ship and landscape scenery was obsecured by greenery along the property! Just a comment but would definetly go back the next time we visit!
4 of us had lunch at this harbor-scene venue. The food was overpriced but pretty good. It is 7 miles off of Route 3 and not very convenient unless you happen to be in Hingham. We thought we'd have a great view of the Boston skyline but in fact it was just a view of a small boat harbor, not very special.
This is the third time my wife and I have had dinner or lunch here. Each time the food and service has always been excellent. We come back annually having lived on the south shore for many years to enjoy Nantasket Beach and all the great scenery this area has to offer. We have had the opportunity over the years before I retired to have dinner in some 4 and 5 star restaurants all over the country. I would rate our dinner at Alma Nove equal to any of those dinning experiences . The setting at Hingham Shipyards is unique and the food makes the experience well worth the trip.
My boyfriend and I drove to MA from Wisconsin. Our 2 places we wanted to try most was Alma's and Wahlburgers. Both were even better than we imagined. We had a table by a window facing the patio and harbor. The view was gorgeou!s! The food was just as beautiful as well as delicious! Very fancy dining feel without feeling "out of place" or like you should be dressed formal. Loved the lighting; nice warm and dim without being too dark. Very friendly and efficient staff. A lovely place to go & hope to go again 😊
The overall experience was very good. We have been here several times. This last time our waiter was a bit rushy with us. We felt we could not sit and enjoy ourselves and converse with our friends without being asked if we are ready to order and if we are done. He seemed to be rushing us out as soon as we sat down.. that was a bit annoying and very disappointing.
First time for lunch and such a lovely lunch on their patio.
Enjoyed the cod cakes, beet salad and cavatelli. Though I think it was the cavatelli that lasted longer than I would have wanted. I'm guessing raw garlic in the pesto. If that doesn't bother you, go for it because the smoked chicken and sausage are yummy.
Alma Nove never disappoints. Atmosphere is special, pleasant, bright and beautiful. View of Marina is right outside. Lots of light and sunshine.
Food is excellent. I had the beet salad with shrimp. Delicious! My friend enjoyed fish and chips which was great!
Always a delight!
Alma Nove is a favorite restaurant of ours. The Sunday afternoon menu included a fritatta, which one of us ordered, while the other two ordered a salad and chicken or salad and salmon. All the portions were beautifully prepared and very substantial. We appreciated the excellent service and the way we were allowed to linger over our desserts, all of which involved one or another variety of homemade ice cream. We have never had a bad dining experience at Alma Nove.
Going to Alma Nove is like going home to visit the family - always welcoming, lots of fabulous food, a warm and welcoming staff ... and too many amazing dishes to choose from ... and the homemade dessert creations - spectacular! The people at Alma are the best - friendly, attentive and most have been there from Day 1. It's always an amazing night and memorable experience!
Overall great experience. The staff here were excellent throughout. Initially seated by the front door, I asked if it was possible to get a table overlooking the water and we were accommodated by wait staff with no fuss and a smile on their faces. The atmosphere was great. Food was delicious. Only complaint was the portion sizes. My date got the salmon and it looked like I could have scoffed it down in three bites. Glad she has a small appetite. I will still highly recommend this place to all my friends. Easily 5 stars if the portions were just a little bigger.
Everything was superb, with the exception of my main course; shrimp & ravioli. 3 shrimp? And 3 raviolis. Kinda small presentation for the cost. Also, the ravioli's were filled with too many peas. Should have been more of the other filling. I will be back, but I won't order that one again. Sorry
So disappointed with this place. Calamari was THE worst thing I've ever had and the Duck was tasteless. The only thing we liked on the menu was the ribeye. The food runner brought the wrong app for he table and apologized and told us to keep it while they work on our actual appetizer. The server came and snatched it from the table before we could talks a bite. Oh, and she yelled at the food runner right in front of us.
A special occasion was ruined by poor communication between the server and hostess. I double checked with her and the hostess regarding a bday dessert and both of them assured me I was all set. I requested to bring out the chocolate mousse, the server brought out literally a tiny piece of chocolate tort. Not only did she bring the wrong dessert, she lit the candle in front of him. Who does that? While writing my review, I regret tipping her 20%. Never again!
Disappointing! I've been here before and loved it. This time around the food was extremely salty. All of it. Even the bread was salty! We got cod cakes, which looked awesome but were way to salty. The shrimp was overcooked and tough and my husband's lamb was undercooked and salty. Someone in the kitchen there has a VERY heavy hand with the salt. I am very easy to please but this was not good for the money spent . I used to recommend this place to everyone but not anymore. I'll look elsewhere for a good meal.
After reading about Alma Nove in Best of Boston, I was quite disappointed by our dinner there. The food was mediocre: the octopus appetizer was oversalted, and the sausage drowned out the other flavors. My lobster linguine was virtually unsalted - it was much better after I salted it. My daughter's gnocchi was heavy and rubbery. Our waiter was quite pleasant, but clearly overbooked, and service was quite slow. The lemon blueberry cake was tasteless. Not quite sure what all the fuss is about - the ambiance is fine, but the actual food and cooking needs much improvement.
Three of five entrees were excellent, but the other two were overcooked. Wait staff reached over patrons repeatedly and confused dessert orders. Disappointing for this supposedly high quality restaurant, especially since we were hosting two visitors from France.
