It was awesomeness! We had a beautiful romantic dinner. Our server was pleasant and patience. They told us about their New Year's eve and I think we will be bringing in 2019 there.

Sabroso! We dined on the first of the restaurant's 3 floors which was quieter and less crowded than the other 2. It had an atmospheric dreamy decor featuring low lighting, with lovely black and white photos of Cuban people projected on the walls. Delicious, interesting and deeply satisfying food, accompanied by unusually attentive service. This was our first visit and we are eager to go back.

Best Cuban food with great drink options...

Drinks are pricey for the size - a little smaller for the value

Food was excellent. Restaurant had a nice ambiance. I got the crab empanadas as a meal, which were very small but good. The chocolate cigar for dessert is a must. Will definitely go back!

Pricey drinks including the still water. Food is very good. Short rib was tasty.

Although the ambiance was nice and service was outstanding, the overall experience was disappointing. The best part of the experience was the service - our waiter was outstanding, he really took care of us. The meal was very expensive and quantities extremely small - we've dined at dozens of restaurants in Philly - this was by far the lowest "value" place we've been. We ordered a three-ceviche combination appetizer that was about one bite per person. The sugar cane tuna was three bite-sized "lollipops" - creatively presented, but the tuna quality was disappointing, as there was a large tendon running through all three pieces - so, chewy and unappetizing. The quinoa served with the scallops was delicious and a good portion, although there were only three medium-sized scallops in the entree. In summary, too expensive for what you get and the food was just okay - lots of better places in Philly.

The food was excellent and the service was good. The only black mark and keeping this from being 5 star was the drink I ordered, el jefe mojito. The taste was good but it was served in a small rock glass, packed with ice and very little drink; $14!

The vibe was very fun! Good music and quirky set-up across three floors. Food was somewhat underwhelming (heavy handed seasoning), service was attentive, would return for drinks (classic mojito was tasty).

Went with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Walked in the door and was happily greeted by the hostess who immediately took our coats to hang up in coat check. We were taken upstairs and asked the reason we were out that night. When I responded with anniversary, we were taken to a quiet corner of the restaurant to be alone. We were swept off our feet by the staff. Made us feel very special. The food was fantastic and definitely more than I could eat. Dessert was on them and came out with “happy anniversary” written in chocolate. First class place

I have eaten here perhaps ten times and it never fails to delight with interesting flavors and unexpected combinations. A great choice for those looking for cuisine that is exciting but not over the top exotic.

We went to Alma De Cuba for New Years this year. The food was outstanding, our waiter was so nice and accommodating. There was a DJ with bongo drums for New Years and we danced downstairs for over an hour after we finished dinner. Amazing experience!

I never have left a review for anything. However this place deserves a few minutes of my time to rave about it!
We went for nye dinner. I had called to confirm reservation before hand- the host was extremely nice and helpful! Food was AMAZING and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Including a complentary champagne toast at midnight was a great end to the dinner!

I've been to Alma de Cuba numerous times over the years and the food is always great. What I didn't love this time was the duck with rice - it's more of a rice bowl with shredded duck, which is not my style.

We had dinner here on New Years Eve and were looking forward to dancing to the DJ music but the music was not good.... The music was redundant, every song with the same beat. In years past the DJ's have played fun & varied dance music, and we were looking forward to that. Because the music stunk we didn't stick around to ring in the new year at the restaurant.

FYI we've been several times because the food is tasty. No valet parking? Music way too loud... could hardly hear the person across from me. They weren't busy, yet the drinks took forever. Food was warm, not hot. When clearing the table, they removed a drink that was not completely empty and the coffee cup almost right out of my hand.

We went to alma De Cuba for new years eve eith 2 other couples. This was the second we have been to this restaurant. The ambiance is good, the food was tasty. Pretty expensive so be prepared to pay a decent amount for 2 people, around 100 or so with drinks. The one thing I didn't care for is I felt very rushed. They brought appetizers out quick and the whole meal we were in and out in a little over an hour. This I did not like. We will try other restuarants before we go back again.

Family dinner. Expectations were high since the price point of this place is on the high side. Nice intimate, albeit dark, setting upstairs. Quite loud in the bar area. Good mojitos. The rest of the food had trouble living up to the description. Fresh ingredients for sure, but the execution left something to be desired. I’ll say that we’ve never been to Cuba but have traveled extensively in the other Spanish parts of the Caribbean, so read this review with that bias in mind.

The quality of the food has gone down dramatically. There must have been big changes in the kitchen. The last time I was there two years ago, the food was amazing. Now, each dish was either sloppily prepared or had clumsy flavors jumbled together. I was very disappointed and will not be returning.

We brought our family of 4 here to enjoy some sharing. All of our food was delicious as always! Our server was switched midway with no explanation; we must have taken too long because we were ordering slowly...the 1st server’s shift was probably ending...but it would have been better for the new gentleman to introduce himself...he made me feel a bit rushed.

Alma de Cocina is the best dining experience we’ve had in Philadelphia. My husband and I love Cuban food, so we were excited to find a Cuban restaurant in Rittenhouse. Everything one would expect was on the menu (ropas viejas, mofongo, bacalao, etc.) but each item was cleverly and thoughtfully elevated in some way. The aesthetic is similarly a combination of classic Havana (white jackets and shirts with black ties for the wait staff) and Philadelphia (the gothic architecture is subtly highlihhted). The cocktails are unique and balanced. Items I’d particularly recommend are the marlin tacos, oxtail marrow croquetas, the ceviche (hands down the best I’ve ever had), the vaca frita, and the enormously clever Cuban cigar desert. We can’t wait to return and can’t recommend Alma de Cuba highly enough!

The food was outstanding. We had some ceviche, lechon w/ rice congri, and cod Mofongo with tres leche and cafe con leche for desert. All dishes we have eaten many times in various locations in US and around world. The food at Alma was some of the best! The waiter, Thomas, was also excellent in helping us select and engaging us. We had been to Alma before during a visit to Philly several years ago, and as before, this experience was excellent.

The service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. Answered any questions we had.

The food was very delicious. We tried the sampler, the short rib ropa vieja, and sea scallops. We also ordered dessert, the chocolate cigar. Excellent presentation and the chocolate cigar was very rich. I just wished there was more ice cream. The meal is more on the pricier side, but I do recommend at least trying this restaurant once.

Delicious food--ceviche, appetizer sampler, tasty short rib main--very friendly and professional service, nice ambience with an old Cuba style. Tables on the small side (more lounge/bar size than for dining), but manageable with the etagere serving of samplers. Look forward to my next visit.

Great place with friendly and attentive service. The food was very good. We went as a large group for the holidays and were comfortably accommodated. I thought the value for what we received was totally worth a second trip. The desserts were great but small for the price in comparison to the value of the meals. Everyone was friendly except for one hostess. They gifted us ice cream for the couple in our group who was celebrating their anniversary which was nice.
