It is a great dining experience. The food is fresh and good. The service is well executed and the place still has a coolness factor, even after many years

Excellent food (big amounts, take care). Nice place. Nice music. Nice people. I will certainly return when I am back in Philadelphia.

Visited Alma prior to attending a performance at the Academy of Music. Service was attentive and pace of receiving courses was at a good pace to not feel rushed but still able to make the show without issues. Loved the appetizers best --definitely try the smoked marlin tacos and the oxtail croquettas with bone marrow. Ceviche was also very good and very flavorful. Only recommendation would be nice if they offered a tasting menu where you could try a little of everything as it is all so good !

Continues to be good as the day it opened over 15 years ago. The empanada special was creative and a perfect tribute to the quality and integrity of this establishment .Every morsel of seafood was perfect .

What a fantastic dining experience!!! The food was to die for and the service from William was second to none! William explained all items on the menu one by one. He was patient, attentive and very knowledgeable. Having a great server can really make the difference between an excellent meal and a superior one. William went the extra mile to make it superior. The chocolate cigar dessert is an absolute must!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We had the pork and the tuna as our entrees. Both were excellently prepared. We find the food here innovative and a nice change from the standard fare at many other restaurants.

10 stars!

In my 24 years of life, this by far was the best restaurant I’ve ever been to!!

Service was phenomenal and unlike any other restaurant. Food was exceptional as well.

Few items that made it stand out:

1) We only eat Halal/Kosher meat, I emailed them beforehand to request if they would be able to get halal/kosher beef so we could enjoy the steak. When I got there the server asked me if I was the one who made that request, because they actually fulfilled that request for us!!

2) Additionally they asked if we had dietary restrictions. We told them to please avoid pork, our server (Christina) told us that they will avoid all cross contamination and told us to avoid the fried items as it contains pork products, and recommended that they can bake it if needed.

3) when making the reservation I placed on there that the ‘occasion’ was a ‘birthday.’ Without me even telling the server that they brought out the dessert we ordered with the candle and the plate that said happy birthday.

4) food was out of this world. Portion sizes were perfect and the tres leches was amazing

Definitely coming here again.

I loved the atmosphere of the bar area. We took advantage of the happy hour choices available and were very pleased. It was lowly lit and energetic in this area; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Food off of the happy hour menu was excellent!!!

All 4 of us liked most of our food. We had appetizers of dates, empanadas, tostones. Everyone liked everything except for the roast pork which was way too fatty according to two of us. The restaurant was not full on a Tuesday night. This is mostly a Cuban restaurant which gets a little inventive as when they make gluten free empanadas with plantain outer dough. I love plantains and regular empanadas which they also make but I skipped these even though I have to eat GF. The vaca frita I had with black beans and white rice and some sort of red sauce with avocado was delicious. The other lady had ropa vieja which she likes very much. She also ordered dessert - tres leches, which she also enjoyed. The wait staff was very good, attentive, and willing to please. We will be back when we are in Philly.

The food is just ok. I'd recommend to just go for drinks. For food, at this price point, there are many better options in Philly.

This was our second visit to Alma de Cuba, both times we booked on Open Table.
I am wondering if this is the reason for being led to the third floor where the atmosphere is much less interesting than the first and second floors. We were a party of four and two very large, fairly noisy parties were seated in the same smallish area.
The food was good. My husband and I both had fish: the tuna was cooked to order. But my husband had the cod which he thought was fairly bland. Our guests enjoyed the veal dish and the appetizers, guacamole with plantains and the bone marrow (don't remember the name of the dish).

We went out with friends for a celebratory meal. It was definitely not conducive to quiet conversation, but we were not quietly conversing in any case. Food was amazing, the wait-staff was extremely professional and they took very good care of us. The bill was pricey, but definitely worth it. I would rate this restaurant very highly in Philadelphia.

A disappointing Steven Starr restaurant. Chopped salad was all watercress: impossible to eat, dry, tasteless. The vegetarian paella had 2 baby carrots, 5 small artichoke hearts and an enormous glob of black rice that also was impossible to eat. Never again.

Maybe it was what we ordered (paella), but the portion was very small, and not very tasty. The seafood in mine was passable, but a tiny amount...rice was not "paella rice". My date and I were not impressed with the food at all...and the bachelorette party (at least 20 girls) beside us made it impossible to talk. For the price of the meal, I'll go somewhere that has better tasting food! We will not return to or recommend this restaurant.

Food was inique and Fabulous Lovely mix of flavors. Beautiful presentation. Authentic Cuban food and flavors, especially the Ropa Vieja. Mojitos were great as were the Dark and Stormys. Dessert were delicious, especially the Pavlova and the Chocolate Custard. Cuban coffee was delicious. Bar service was a little slow, but overall very good. It appears they have a very nice Happy Hour. Will definitely be back.

First time here and won't be the last. The ambiance is great, the staff is wonderful and everything we ate was delicious! We weren't rushed at all. We had dinner upstairs but had drinks downstairs first. It's a nice set up with a bar, club chairs and sofas. You can eat down there also which is probably a great spot to come for drinks and apps. The guacamole here is fantastic as are the dates. Every dinner selection was great: filet, scallops, branzino and short ribs. Dessert didn't disappoint either. The tre leches cake is delicious and the chocolate cigar was clever and also really good. Can't go wrong here with whatever you choose.
