Alma De Cuba Ratings and Reviews
Great food choices for everyone and the drinks are amazing. The Scallops were succulent and the flavor exceeded our expectations. The black bean soup was a meal in it's self, very comforting, and packed with taste. Between the food and the atmosphere, you feel like you walked into Cuba. Thanks for bringing a slice of Cuba to Walnut St.
Since my wife and I are staying in Philadelphia for 3 months we are taking advantage of local fine restaurants. Alma de Cuba is wonderful in all ways. This is a modern and cool take on traditional Cuban atmosphere and cuisine. The Lechon was stupendous, authentic but with little accents and culinary additions that brought it really up to date. All the food and cocktails had that little something extra and interesting. The KeyLime Pie was the best deconstruction I have tasted.
My husband and I have been dining at Alma de Cuba for several years and we always have a good experience. We particularly enjoy the ceviche and the creative specials. Our severs are always attentive and very knowledgeable. We will continue to return for our pre-theater dinners.
We had a wonderful meal and experience here. We needed to wait for 30 minutes for our table despite having a reservation, however we were able to have a few drinks at the bar and we were given a complimentary guacamole and plantain chips starter which was sooo delicious and unexpected. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. On top of all that, the food and drinks were spot on.
We went to Alma for a birthday. The food was excellent and service impeccable. Ceviche is amazing. Black bean soup is a must. The skirt steak was so tender.A drink was spilled at our table and after cleaning up, without asking they replace the spilled drink. When we ordered dessert, knowing we were there for a B-Day, they put a candle and spelled Happy Birthday in chocolate; nice touches. The only drawback is the way they have the tables and chairs set up, very tight, our knees kept hitting each other. Overall, a great experience.
Yummy food. Started with the coconut ceviche. It has beautiful chunks of lobster and shrimp. I had a salmon and quinoa dish that was outstanding. My colleague enjoyed her pork dish. We had a side of tostones with a bright limey vinegrette. Food was delicious, ambiance was very nice. Mojito went down too easily. My only negative comment was the staff was almost too attentive and several people stopped by to make sure we were good. There are worse problems than being too attentive. Overall highly recommend.
We like Alma de Cuba. We've been several times. I'll only mention 2 cautions if you know and like Caribbean/Latin food. While the guacamole was good, it doesn't quite taste like guacamole--you can hardly taste the avocados. Second, I usually expect a Cuban style yucca to be a little heavier on the garlic, maybe too heavy (which is how I like it), but it wasn't as garlic flavored as I'd expect--although perhaps their version might taste a little more palatable to more people. The food here is great. I would encourage everyone to go. I would also encourage you to consider Mixto if Latin food is your thing.
This is my 2nd time there for dining. We were served burnt rice and a lot of it with the Imperial Chicken. The seafood I ordered had ZERO flavor with no lemon. All seafood comes with lemon, right. The soda (coke) I had was flat. The ambiance is stellar, but the food has taken a downturn.
Our family of five had a terrific meal to celebrate our youngest daughter's birthday. Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating by suggesting vegetarian and dairy free options. The tuna and skirt steak were delicious. Our daughters loved the black bean soup and seafood ceviche. The chocolate cigar was a fun dessert complete with matches that burned!
We have dined at Alma De Cuba many times over the years and have always loved it - this time was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the food and service were amazing, plus we were surprised with champagne and dessert! We really had a fantastic time, and now I always say that ceviche is favorite type of food because of the richness and complexity of flavor in each of the different dishes - thanks for a great night!
