Alma De Cuba
The service staff switched midway through dinner. Food was not made with care. Loads of rice to compensate for small entrees
Juliette and Micah were fantastic! Food was incredible.
This was my second time at Alma De Cuba - my last time visiting was back in 2009. The food was outstanding per usual and the service amazing. Will definitely be coming back!
Service and food were really great— the only critique was that the octopus was a little chewy and overcooked. The hosts were very accommodating as well.
Great place. I loved it and my guests did also. The pork was absolutely amazing!
Server was great. Food excellent. Always a good experience
I would highly recommend Alma de Cuba. We started with drinks in the lounge which was a very interesting place. I would love to come back just for drinks and snacks another day. The restaurant is upstairs and was much larger than I expected. Everything was perfect...food, service, and atmosphere! I will definitely be back.
Alma De Cuba is a great experience and the food and service are very very good. Classy place. Some items are a bit over-priced though.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. We were celebrating a special birthday with family. The restaurant worked with a family member out of state to serve us a toast and a beautiful card. When a family member showed up with additional guests, they accommodated us without any issues. The food and service was outstanding as always. It was a beautiful evening well worth the money. Still our favorite.
Great Cuban cuisine in the city. Perfect for celebrating special occasions or even a simple get together with friends.
when you are craving Cuban food, Alma De Cuba is the place to go
One of the best restaurants in the city. Always a pleasure to dine there.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and he was able to make several suggestions for my husband who loves suggestions! He will basically order solely on what the waiter is into. Our food was amazing we had carnitas empanadas, ox croquets as apps and ceviche and steak as our entrees. We will definitely be back service and food will not disappoint!
This was our second time at the restaurant
We’ve been here a few times and always had a great experience, but today the service was very unsatisfactory. We arrived on time for happy hour and decided to take advantage of it. I asked to sit downstairs for it but they of course sat us at the one table down there that doesn’t do happy hour so we had to move. Service seemed friendly and we had high hopes but once we were moved to a table behind the bar and a wall we were out of site and out of mind. After our first drink order, it took a while for our server to return. Once someone finally helped us, we ordered one more drink to hold us to dinner. We didn’t see the server for over 30 or so minutes after that, even with empty glasses and plates in front of us. All of the servers were attending to every other table but didn’t even glance at our table, probably because we look young and they thought they weren’t going to get much tip from us vs the others. After an hour and a half of sitting in the restaurant I was finally able to flag someone down to order dinner. Of course once they realized we were spending more they became a little more attentive but by this point we were both miserable and hungry. We ended up spending over 2 hours at the restaurant just because of wait time, and the restaurant wasn’t even too crowded (we’ve been there during busier times and had better service). The food quality and atmosphere are always great here but we’re probably not coming back after this incident.
Fantastic food and service. Will definitely be back!
I first came to Alma De Cuba over 10 years ago and so vividly remember it being a phenomenal meal. When a weekend trip with my family brought us to Philly, I was certain I'd book a table for dinner here again. It did not disappoint. Everything from ambiance to service to food and drinks was excellent. We dined early (5:30) with our two young children (4 and 7) and our waiter (his name escapes me but he was excellent!) was great at suggesting dishes that would be kid friendly and even took the initiative to split their entree onto two plates for ease of serving them. We shared the guacamole (great smoky flavor!), tostones, fried yucca, and sweet plaintains in addition to our entrees. I had the special (Branzino - amazing!!!), my husband had the ribeye which was incredibly tender and simply delicious, and my children shared the vaca frita. All were excellent - perfectly seasoned and great portion sizes. We had a chance to chat with the manager Ryan who was also incredibly nice and accommodating for our young children. We had a wonderful conversation with him and discovered that he was part of the opening of our favorite local steakhouse (in NYC). All around it was an incredible meal and we will definitely return when we're in the area again!
We went to celebrate selling and buying a house. I looked up the restaurant and was familiar with the menu but our waiter was very helpful and suggested great options that we enjoyed. More so, he brought out a special dessert with a candle to honor our celebration! I was not able to have an alcoholic drink but my virgin pineapple mojito was perfect! All our food was great and unique. My husband stated he expected small portions but was too full to finish his entree. Truly an amazing date and would love to return!
Wait staff was great. Food was decent.
I will not be back to this place, food is mediocre for the price.
We took some out of town guests for what i consider to be one of the best dining experiences in the city. We enjoyed the staff and friendliness. We may have over ordered on the ceviche, but it was excellent. Thumbs up on the empanadas too. Chicken, Vaca Frita and seafood rice were all a hit at our table.
The food and service were excellent! Whether you choose beef, seafood, or other specialty, it's among our favorite restaurants in the city. Go!!!
We first dined here 15 years ago and had our first mojito... Both the restaurant and the drinks were even better in 2019. It’s a must-visit in Philadelphia.
Service and food were great!
I'd recommend for happy hour, not really for a sit down dinner.
The quality of the food was not as good as I remembered. The waiter was exceedingly in the beginning but his attention to us faded quickly. The portion sizes, especially for expensive cocktails was quite small.
I travel for a living and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. Everything on the menu is excellent, I especially love the Lechon de Asada! I never come to philly without a visit.
Excellent. Great gluten-free options
Being Cuban I can say it’s not ready Cuban food however they nailed it in the beef empanada and Lechón Asado. However ever if u do it order the lechon ask to substitute the rice for morro y chrstiano. My favorite was the prime rib also I would change the side the fufu is too sweet
The food was wonderful and the service terrific. The restaurant was oddly empty, I guess because it was 8 on a Sunday night in August, so there was no noise, either. Great evening.
Server was very helpful and friendly. Food and drinks were delicious but restaurant was so dark!
Everything was great. Thank you
The menu was amazing! Ceviches were sooo good and fresh! Everything was spectacular!
Food and drinks were excellent and the service was superb. Provided great overview of the menu with great recommendations.
A waste of time. Typical Steven Starr restaurant --.great in its first couple years and then ignored after that. No quality coming out of the kitchen. We started with pretty mediocre empanadas and tuna tacos that tasted like tunafish from a can. Our entrees heightened the disappointment. The short ribs -- which they claim to be a specialty, and the waitress described as sensational levels of flavor -- came out of the kitchen as nothing more than watery rice that most likely wasn't drained well topped with tasteless short ribs.
Yes, Alma de Cuba has seen its day and it should consider closing graciously.
My go to place when I visit Philadelphia and they delivered again on a recent visit. Best roast cuban pork in the world with super crispy skin and lusciously tender meat. Sublime.
Great service. Outstanding food!!! A little pricey
Lots has changed at this once amazing restaurant. The dinner bread which is a form of cheese bread use to be amazing and this time it was hard. We had a bus boy guy who had an unpleasant smell to him picking up our plates and it just didn’t feel right knowing he was handling your plates. Our waiter although very nice was not great. Maybe he was focused on training but we had empty glasses a few times. The Birthday celebration was non existent from the wait staff so keep that in mind if you’re celebrating an event. Have had better recognition at other local restaurants like Capital Grille, Tequila, Davios, and Del Friscos just to name a few. Food was ok not great as well. It had been a few years since my last visit and let’s say sadly this will probably be my last. I will update pics & more on my food blog.
Great food and ambiance in a fantastic location
We would highly recommend Alma De Cuba! The quality of the food and the variety of flavors was fabulous. The ambiance and service were wonderful. We are already looking forward to our next meal!
