Alma De Cuba
The 42 Bus Route Runs on Walnut Street and Locust Street. 17th Street stop.
I was extremely disappointed. We had to wait for an hour to get drinks and the excuse was that the bar person was new. The manager did not charge us for drinks and promised the next round would be quick. We ordered the next one immediately but after half an hour when we didn't get it we canceled. The server was great and she realized how frustrated we were. The food was also average.
Love this place! Such a wonderful place just to relax and chat. Food is wonderful the service is spectacular. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Our server was lovely, when the fried cow was too salty she had them prepare one with no added salt and it came out perfectly. It was my husband’s birthday and so I took him to one of his favorite places and our server gave him another glass of wine and a chocolate cigar with candles for his birthday it was truly delightful.
The ceviches!!! Oh my goodness the ceviches. Everything is good, but the ceviches were mind blowing. We got chatty with our waiter, and even he said that when he eats there he just orders ceviches and calls it a day because so. much. is going on in those dishes that he'll never be able to replicate it at home. If you like seafood at all, make sure to get one!
Great birthday experience.
It was wonderful everything was perfect
Food is great, great cocktails, bartenders great, but the service is lacking, from time to serve food, drinks and water needing refill, food coming out at wrong times, to servers attitude. It almost seems like most of the serving staff have limited experience in the restaurant business, and no supervisor. I would still highly recommend this place, as it has been great previous times we have visited and I'm sure will improve.
Had a great anniversary! Food was phenomenal.
What a gorgeous space, what delicious food and what impeccable service, from bar to dining room.
Cocktails and food are always outstanding.
Took a little long to order drinks and wish we didn’t send our server away for a few extra minutes the first time. The food is wonderful though, all four of us enjoyed our meals and everyone ordered very different things. Ropa vieja and Vaca frita melt in your mouth. Ceviche appetizer was amazing. Could have ordered more! But we were stuffed. Modern, comfortable, inspired atmosphere is perfect. Will be back!
The food as usual was excellent. The ceviches were delicious same as the main courses. I don't give 5 starts because it was freezing during the whole dinner. We were in a table in the second floor by a window . It was cold outside but not in the twenties or below. They shoud have an extra space heater on that room because it was extremely and unconfortable.
The ambiance was very nice the food was ok
The 4 of us enjoyed our dinner at Alma with some small reservations. The food was too salty for one of us although very tasty, and another was disappointed by the small amount of seafood in her seafood and rice dish especially given the price. Sweet plantains were delicious. Menu was interesting.
Food was very good. Service was OK. Cool vibe. Very expensive!
The service was excellent as was the food. We were celebrating our son's birthday - he got the tuna & thought it was the best he's had - he said the same thing about the key lime dessert.
A bit dark is my only complaint!
Upon arrival, our table upstairs was not ready so we enjoyed a unique and fun black cherry caipirinha and glass of wine at the bar. Our table was adjacent to the stairway, jammed in between a post behind her and the table behind me. But, our dining experience was all about communication. We were very emphatic and specific with our server at the outset that my wife does not do spicy so it was a surprise and disappointment when the Rainbow ceviche was delivered to her. While it was delicious (for me) it was uneatable for her. It was replaced without issue but that set the tone for the evening. With having multiple servers visit our table to take care of us it was not a surprise to see this item on our check and, thus, requiring us to ask to have it removed (again, no hassle, it was addressed but why have to go through that). Her ceviche was substituted with the Dúo De Pulpo and that was a nice dish for her before her Sugar Cane Tuna ordered and delivered without the spicy rub. I started with the Thai Coconut Mixto and went very light with the Wahoo Tacos, both very good choices. In terms of value, the experience was not without its moments (plus and minus) but, with the prices at a level on the high end of comparable restaurants in town, the value was only good for us.
I loved the ambiance, but the food was average. I’ve had much more flavorful and well-crafted appetizers and entrees. The homemade rolls, mojitos and chocolate cigar dessert were the saving graces of our dining experience.
Came here for a birthday dinner with some friends on a Saturday night. Loved the setting and the drinks are fantastic. Food was good but portions could be better given the price. They gave a nice extra dessert along with the ones we ordered complete with candle for my birthday. Only complaint was service was very rushed/pushy. I understand we were there at peak but felt like they were constantly trying to move us to the next course, clear the table, etc. before we had finished eating.
Great food and service! Attentive staff and very considerate.
The environment is beautiful, however the service is poor. Our server came to our table once in an whole hour. The food was salty, and when noticeably unhappy about the food, the server didn’t ask to accommodate. The waitress in general seemed more interested in their larger party tables. One waitress asked to take our plates while there was still more than half of the food left (which should’ve been a signal that something was wrong with the food). Lastly, it was our anniversary and the hostess was aware, however our waitress didn’t make note of it once.
Not as good as it used to be. Very salty food
Always an enjoyable dining experience at Alma dr Cuba, this visit didn’t disappoint.
Dinner was nice with the exception of 4 different people stopping by the table to ask “how was everything” in the span of a few minutes
This is our second visit to Alma De Cuba. Love the food. Great Flavors. The Classic Mojito was really delicious and well made. I would also recommend the Key Lime Flan at the end of dinner which we order and share with others at the table. It is delicious, not to be missed.
We enjoyed good food and friendly service. I would return if only the parking was easier.
Great Food and Service!
We sat at the bar to get front row seats to the bartender’s show, and boy was he amazing! His hands moved like lightning and the drinks were phenomenal. The food was consistently solid, although not something that I would dream and drool about. That said, I know I’ll be coming back whenever I need that part of my soul fulfilled. I highly recommend the side deep fried plantains, salmon, and the little appetizer tacos.
Really had a great time, would definitely return and recommend to others.
We had an awesome dinner and the server was extremely attentive.
We came for our anniversary and our server Julie was so nice and we had a great time! Food was amazing but lechon was hit or miss. It was very fatty and porky. Overall was good and we would definitely come back to taste more food!
Authentic tasty Cuban, island cuisine. Creative cocktails and dishes extremely well presented. Very attentive service.
I’ve been here twice now and always had great food and great service. The ambiance is great. Definitely try the ceviche.
The food was very salty and the pork was so tough and dry that it was inedible. The service, however, was very good. Hoping it was an off night with the food because I generally like this place.
My fist time to Alma de Cuba, and I was impressed. Met a friend for dinner, we like the bar seating so much we just stayed there. Open seating by was also great for talking (not loud)....Had a variety of good food from the happy hour menu, all of which were great (wahoo tacos, shrimp and beef carpacio. Uniqie cocktails made the night. Will return for sure....
We had an incredible meal in June and returned with friends to enjoy more delicious and authentic cuisine.
It had been a while since we had been there and had an absolutely revelatory experience: the flavors distinct but also complementing and contrasting each other. Delicious and unexpected combinations with beautiful presentation. The service was slow but deliberate. This time, our selections were very good but not as remarkable. The seafood rice dish was generous and hearty but not elegant and perhaps wanting a sprinkle of a fresh herb to enliven the texture and taste. The crispy pork again reliable as above. Wonderful to share a pitcher of the divine mojitos and the staff was particularly attentive.
The food was delicious and our server was excellent. She was highly professional and very responsive to our needs and special concerns.
Lovely place with great food and service
