We had an amazing dinner here and the service was excellent. Great drink menu as well. The churros for dessert were a great way to finish the meal. We will be back here the next time we are in Atlanta.
Best restaurant I’ve been to this year, I can’t even describe how delicious everything was. Try all of the first bites and definitely the octopus! Signature dish is the chicken mole which was very good, but there are other dishes that have way more flavor. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic tasting food. I was desperate to find gourmet Mexican, you met that challenge and beyond, loved it. Every bite was great, I just didn't have the time and appetite to try everything but would do that....
We were running late due to delays getting out of the Stadium after SEC Championship Game. Called Alma Cocina to let them know, and they moved our reservation back 30 minutes. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly and enjoyed excellent service and very good food.
I was watching Atlanta Eats and decided to try it on a Friday for lunch with friends. We had 2 of the roasted chicken mole and grilled steelhead trout. The chicken was over cooked and the mole sauce was flat! No real flavor that stood out. The trout was just ok. Now, our server was nice but did not show any enthusiasm. She basically shared her favorites and then disappeared. When she returned to take our order she seemed rushed. When we asked for a refill on the salsa, it took about 15 mins and another server brought it. Everything was so average, it’s not worth paying for parking just to have average food.
Alma Cocina is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Atlanta. The food is delicious and the service is top notch.
Visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this place by accident. Such a great find. Love the guacamole trio and the octopus appetizer was amazing. Would definitely go back when I return to Atlanta.
Customer service was poor. Waitress was not interested in explaining the menu and kept pushing alcohol sales
Nice restaurant. Staff very friendly. Food was okay. The ambience made for a great lunch meeting.
This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. We had the steelhead ceviche which was outstanding. The huitlacoche empanadas were also very good. The goat tacos were great as well. The house guacamole was very passable, but did not knock my socks off. It was perhaps the only average thing about the food. The churros were the best I have ever had. The service was impeccable. Drinks were good too. If we visit Atlanta again I will surely go back.
The carnitas street tacos that I ordered were dry chunks of pork with very little flavor, covered with a splash of salsa. Not impressed!
Guacamole was amazing. And who would think you could make shrimp and grits a taco but well THEY DID and it is beyond my expectation.
Food is very good. Service is better when there isn’t a large crowd. Specialty drinks with house mixes are recommended.
Beans and rice came out cool to ice cold on the plate completely unacceptable. Found a fried plaintain fruit sticker on the plate. Complain to the server who said he would tell his manager. We never saw the manager. Will, the server, was absolutely fabulous
Good service. We told the server that we had a show at the Tabernacle. She was able to expedite our order and get us out of the restaurant quickly. However, our dishes were extremely spicy. The spiciness was not indicated on the menu. Even the black beans were very spicy. Also, the restaurant is very expensive relative to the type of food. Finally, for an expensive Mexican restaurant, you expect to have chips and salsa. Nope.
One of the best meals we have had anywhere! Chad is definitely a star chef!
Justin and Mercedes were incredible! Thank you both for making our night so special. We had a blast and loved the food!
Alma Cocina is an amazing restaurant - this was our second time dining and it was still just as delicious as the first time. We had the seasonal butternut squash guacamole this time - fantastic! Very easy to find many option for gluten-free diets as their menu has the few things marked that are "NOT gluten free." Get the fried chiuaua cheese - TRULY insane. Grilled octopus is huge and excellent. Highly recommend this place - go with people that enjoy sharing plates. Oh and can't forget to mention, highly knowledgeable staff and amazing hand picked tequila. Try a tequila cube. This place is awesome.
Was there in Nov 2018 for 2nd time. This restaurant is fantastic. Friendly staff and ridiculously good food. I had the carnitas street tacos and a tomale. Their tomales are some of the best I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back.
Everyone who works there is incredible nice and the food is so well done. The fried Chihuahua queso is a must!
Great prices for the portions and the COD fish tacos are the best I have ever had.
Wonderful culinary and dining experience. Jerry was amazing and didn’t skip a beat. Coming back for sure!
Outstanding place. Making reservation saved 1:15 wait.
Coming into town for business and always looking for something Downtown. This little gem right next to the Ritz Carlton is a great choice to eat with friends or on your own. Consistent good food and great Bar!
Delicious food! The short rib taco was to die for!
Awesome flavors and creative dishes. Fabulous menu.
Our waiter was really helpful helping to get us served and in time for a show at the Rialto Theater.
Alma Cocina is an upscale Mexican restaurant with some very inventive takes on Mexican food. For me, the food is a bit too fussy and overly complicated, but it is very good. For Mexican food it is expensive, but if you're prepared for that it can be a very nice place for lunch, dinner or drinks. The salsa'gaucamole assortment (which costs around $17) is actually quite good. Although expensive for chips and dip, I thought it was worth it.
We arrived very early because we had theater tickets. We had an extended meal with many small courses and without any pressure to move along. Each course was unique and fabulous. Our server was appropriately attentive...not hovering, but there when needed.
All and all I liked Alma Cocina. Once everything arrived the food and drinks were good.
The problem I had was the drinks were slow to arrive and the place def wasn’t that packed. In fact our drinks were ordered the minute we sat down and didn’t arrive until after our appetizers arrived. I said something to the waitress asking where they were and she gave me a rude look and made a comment. Little did I know since we were a party of 8 people the restaurant added a 20% GRATUTITY to my bill. Very aggressive usually it’s 18% without notifying the customers. I have a feeling this is why the service suffered and the waitress felt like she could throw an attitude back at us. Poor form by management.
Pork chops overdone and waiter over attentive.
Great margaritas and food was good. Service was good too. Recommend.
Have eaten here 2 times in the past 3 months. Had a wonderful lamb the first time and a very tasty swordfish most recently. The wait staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. After your meal, try the premium tequilas -- these are not tequila "shots" but sipping tequilas to be savored and enjoyed like a fine cognac -- really superb!
The food is excellent - flavorful, creative, well executed and beautiful. Most selections are gluten free. Excellent drinks and impeccable service.
The Mushroom Hominy Burger was fantastic. This from a meat lover.
Very good! Not your normal Mexican fare. Was a bit concerned when I first saw the items on the menu. The waiter made some on spot recommendations. The empanadas were incredible. The street tacos were awesome! Great service!
First time at Alma and we will definitely be back! The food was incredible! We ordered tequila drinks, appetizers, tacos and a dessert and all of it was phenomenal. The service was great too. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks/food came out in a timely manner. Can’t wait to go back!
Excelente opción para comer comida mexicana con un towue de distinción
Very best Mexican restaurant in Atlanta! Visited once for lunch and once for dinner!
