Alma Cocina Ratings and Reviews
Awesome place. We were seated in the atrium on a bitter cold evening and it was great. Felt like being outside but nice and warm and gorgeous / those lights!! Food is amazing, margaritas were very good. The roasted corn and the sweet plaintain side items were outstanding- both are a MUST. Just go eat here - it's soooo good.
Always try to get by Alma Cucina when we are in Atlanta, the place never disappoints. We had Cosmos as our waiter, and he was very educated on the menu and offered great recommendations. They were all very attentive and we had a fantastic experience. The shrimp Sope is the best.
I specifically went to this restaurant because I am celiac and read that it was celiac friendly. When I arrived I was told it was ‘sort of’ gluten friendly and was not able to eat most of the food other than tortillas (that were not even warmed up, but cold) salsa and steak tacos served on cold tortillas and guacamole. But it’s the service and sense of defensiveness and “couldn’t bother” attitude from server and manager that was a real turn off. I won’t return.
Excellent meal. We had a reservation and were seated in a timely manner. They were extremely busy due to a trade show in town and apparently planned for the large influx of people. The staff was friendly, food very good. An enjoyable experience at the end of a long day.
My brother-in-law was visiting from out of state and wanted a Mexican meal. We chose Alma Cocina because it was within walking distance of us and very well reviewed. My brother-in-law had a chicken al carbon taco and my husband had a whole hog carnitas taco which both enjoyed very much. I had chili rubbed duck breast which was succulent and delicious & cooked a perfect medium rare, just as I ordered it. The service was very efficient. My only quibble is that the "mood" lighting was so dim that it was very hard to read the menu!
My wife and I had a staycation in downtown Atlanta. I had eaten at Alma Cocina before for lunch and enjoyed it. We were so happy we made the decision to eat here. Our server, Terry, was outstanding. He was warm and friendly and gave us good, meaningful suggestions. Our favorite dish was the grilled octopus. The texture and seasonings were a beautiful marriage of crunch and spice. We will return soon.
This restaurant was a surprise. We expected the typical Latin cuisine, but the selections were very innovative. The server Terry was very attentive. I had the Cod Tacos, which were lightly battered and my husband had the special, which he really enjoyed. The atmosphere was more of bar environment. The dining area was separate from the bar area, which made it very noisy.
Three others and myself went on this past Saturday night and we all agreed that the food and service was spot on. Definitely recommend trying it out! We sat in the Ritz lobby area and the music over the speakers was a little on the loud side which made casual conversation difficult.
