Alma Cocina - Downtown

I brought 13 people to dinner at 8:30 on a Tuesday night. The service was terrific. The food was terrific. Our server was terrific. Couldn't have been better.

Great food and great service. Had an assortment of excellent cocktails as well!

Date Night

The food, service, and ambience was all great. My colleagues and I were in town for a conference, and while we all are very familiar with Mexican cuisine, the offerings here were unique takes. I don't remember the names of the items, so I'll describe them instead. We had an appetizer that was a spicy cheese wrapped in tortillas, and boiled in salsa verde, and it was outstanding. A side dish we shared was a corn with spices item that was a great complement to our main courses. I had shrimp tacos, also excellent. I highly recommend it!

Went to the happy hour 1st. That was fine. When we got to our table, our waiter was very lack luster. Don't order the hot cheese appetizer. It is a waste of money & no taste.

Food is always good. This time I tried the guacamole trio. One had dates in it and it was fabulous!
Often loud when busy, this week night was nice and quiet. Very enjoyable. Totally recommend.

Anniversary

Five of us ate here for my son’s birthday. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone enjoyed their entrees-One in our group mentioned that the pork tenderloin was a real treat. It was a very pleasant evening and I highly recommend!

Alma Cocina has good, straight forward food. There was nothing too creative but the quality was good. It was crowded and had a lot of energy.

Food was amazing, excellent Tacos. Their margaritas were easily some of the best we’ve ever had! Service was on point and basically no wait time once we ordered food before it was out. Definitely eat here again!

Had a very nice dinner of bites small plates and entrees. Topped off with Mexican ice cream. Service was spot on.

I had been wanting to try the restaurant for a long time since a friend recommended it.
It is a fun atmosphere and like the menu options. My main complaint is we ordered an appetizer and drinks to enjoy first but all the food came at the same time within about 5 minutes of ordering. I was not pleased with that. I got the impression the kitchen must be ready to go with orders pre made like an assembly line. My tacos were not hot. We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday so I didn’t want to complain. The delicious margaritas made for a good time. I will not order all food at once next time and ask them to make sure it is hot and fresh.

Bartender was awesome. Waitress at table wasn’t as friendly.

Service was very slow and food was mediocre.

We really enjoyed Alma Cocina. We don't eat downtown often, but this was the best (non-steak) food experience we've found in the downtown area. We'll be back

This was our second time visiting Alma. The atmosphere is hoping and the bar is always packed. Very comfortable restaurant with exceptional food. The homemade tortillas are excellent! Chicken Tinga tacos and the skinny margarita were my favorite.

Alma Cocina is a lovely restaurant located in the lobby of the 191 Peachtree St bldg with inside parking. The menu is influenced by much of South American/Latino flavors. We started with a trio of guacamole dishes, one traditional, one with a fig paste, and the third with butternut squash on top. Each one was really well spiced with the peppers and topped with cojito and nuts. The chips were excellent and accompanied by fried plantain chips for a mild sweet taste.

Our men chose entres of Chicken Mole. The chicken was roasted and smothered with a rich, not-too-sweet chocolate sauce that is typical in Puebla, MX. Served on a bed of mashed plantains, it was very satisfying.

The ladies chose the street tacos, sharing the goat meat tacos and the calamari tacos. Both were really full of flavor and well spiced.

The wine selection was excellent...we agreed we chose a red that we wished had been more full bodied. But a good wine.

Our server, Mike, was attentive and helped keep us on track for an 8pm show time. He offered his recommendations and was well informed. He added value to our experience!

Make sure you get to sit with Gerardo! He is amazing and very knowledgeable of the restaurant. All the staff from the hostess to the runners were very polite and friendly. And the food was outstanding. I would look forward to returning.

My husband and I love Alma Cocina... it's our go to restaurant when we're downtown. We always get the fried chihuahua cheese and huitlacoche empanadas- yum yum!

food and service were fantastic. Great space to hang with friends, festive but not too noisy. Busy but not jam packed.

My first visit to this restaurant was a nice experience. We parked in the 191 parking deck and received parking validation. This made it super easy to get to the restaurant without having to walk on peachtree. I made reservations and was seated quickly. Our waiter Haki was very knowledgeable. He knew absolutely everything about the food and drink menu! He left no question unanswered. I ordered the chicken signature taco and it was seasoned with perfection! The drinks were very good and not too strong. The ambiance was awesome. Nice place for a date! We will be back.

Cocktails are amazing. They have their own reposado tequila that is perfect for sipping.

Very tasty food, drinks, and our server had great energy. It's kind of loud so probably not suited for business dinners.

I recommend the salsa and guacamole tasting and the fried cheese is incredible! Fun bar scene. Great service, great food!
