My boyfriend and I met at this restaurant almost 4 years ago and got to celebrate our 1 year anniversary last night. The food was delicious and the service was 10/10 even after we arrived late. It felt so special to be back, and everyone at the restaurant truly went out of their way to accommodate us. Thank to everyone and especially Janel for taking care of us!
Maybe, not a great fan of modern Mexican food, was looking forward to the authentic experience.
Always awesome, wonderful chefs and wonderful servers.
Our waiter Will was awesome and the food was great!
Literally the best taco I’ve ever had IN MY LIFE. The chicken al carbon taco was life changing. It is served deconstructed as one big piece of chicken and all the sides and you create the taco yourself fajita style and it is marinated perfectly and I can’t stop thinking about it goodbye
Dinner only. Bar area use to be very attentive but waiting a bit and person sitting next to me was a little upset at the wait.
My group really enjoyed our dinner at Alma Cocina. Great food & drinks!
I’ve been to Alma Cocina several times after Atlanta United games. I love the small plate offerings, as well as main dishes. Cocktail and wine selections are also very good. This visit, my daughter and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner including scallop ceviche, shrimp tacos, and seafood soup (we were all-seafood this visit). All were delicious! Service was excellent too!
The atmosphere was lovely and it’s a very pretty restaurant. I took my parents there for Mother’s Day and we tried the chicken mole and the stuffed poblano pepper dishes. The mole was DELICIOUS. I’m very picky about my mole but this was so very tasty and the chicken was nice and tender. The poblano peppers were also delicious, however I felt there was just a little something lacking in the balance of the flavors of the dish - it had a little too much “acid” and not enough salt and fat so it was falling just a bit flat on the palate. Over all it was very enjoyable - I just tend to have great expectations for the balance of flavors. The churros were not nice and crispy as well and they came out a little soft. The taste was very nice for those however. I would still go back!
food was very heavy and large portions but delicious. Margaritas were too sweet and made from pre-mix - dont recommend
The food was good place was clean area was nice employee's were friendly. Took my girl there for her birthday and they gave her this beautiful and tasty dessert on the house. Definitely will go back shouts out to Alma Cocina
Delicious Southern/Latin fusion. The pork belly First Bite is delicious and the Carnitas were off the chain!
Selection of food was nice and items ordered were quite good. Excellent service from the staff. A bit noisy, but small group discussion was possible. All-in-all a wonderful find for an out-of-state food experience. Thank you!
Great service, manager was excellent when we had a parking issue and made the night awesome!!
Excellent food. Loved the guacamole ensemble (3 types of guac and 3 types of sauces). Chicken mole was wonderful and tacos were very tasty. Wait person was very informative. Loved the place. Wish I lived in Atlanta so I could return often.
Festive, lovely place to celebrate any occasion, especially 5 del Mayo!
Food was mediocre, service was slow and it was so loud we could barely hear each other. Not sure we’ll be back.
The food was awesome and the service was really good. They did a dessert for us that we wanted but was not on their dessert menu
Great dinner, as always. Delicious guacamole and chicken al carbon.
Business lunch was great!
We had a great experience at Alma Cocina. The food is inventive and beautifully prepared. Our server, Haki, was likely the best server I have ever met. He was smart, knew the dishes well, made excellent, careful recommendations, and was poised and very unhurried in his explanations of the menu items available. He was available throughout the meal but not hovering. The meal was well timed. The room is quite loud so if you are interested in a very intimate experience this may not be quite right, however, my husband and I had no problem speaking across the table, and shared lovely conversation with the couple at a nearby table. I would say that if you are in Atlanta, it would be a shame to miss out on this awesome restaurant.
Great margaritas and food is excellent! Service also very good and friendly. Would def return.
Great service. Food is not flavorful and too spicy to our taste. Coconut dulce de leche is the best.
I went to Alma Cocina for my birthday. The waiters who served us were very nice and friendly. They even offered to keep my cake in the fridge for me! The food was absolutely delicious and worth it. The scallops were fresh and the fried cod tacos were everything you could've hoped for. The building the restaurant is in is absolutely gorgeous. Even with a table of 10, our food came out in a timely manner and we were out of there in just over an hour.
Birthday/ date night
The meal was great until it was time to leave. From the time our server took our credit card it took 30 mins!
Fantastic dinner! Our waiter Jordan made the experience even better.
I eat at Alma Cocina at least once a month, and it is always outstanding.
Gran comida y servicios. Los platos signatures son caros, pero hay opciones.
This was a very good place to go for some very innovative Mexican food. The open air court seating was
wonderful and we had a very good waitress. She was very knowledgeable and gave good advice on our food selections. The food came promptly and her service was good.
Good food and great service. Waiter was fantastic while the host was less than friendly, thus the four stars.
Very good food; server was rude and forgot part of our order, kept pushing another glass of wine and seemed upset that we wanted coffee. Also, a broken espresso machine that has been broken for a while seemed inconceivable in a good restaurant. Do they not fix it to turn tables faster?
We had a great time there. We were a big group and ordered a lot of appetizers and main dishes and everything was exceptional. I will be going back again for sure!
Best Mexican spot in Atlanta Downtown. Highly recommended.
The staff treat you like royalty. Definitely try the fried cheese. Share lots of small plates so you get to taste more of this authentic Mexican restaurant. Best margaritas you'll ever drink. Ask for a booth although tables are situated for easy conversation. Vast wine and tequila menu. Plenty to eat if you are a vegetarian. Make the reservation, you won't be disappointed.
We've always enjoyed this restaurant but did notice that average prices have increased since my last visit I was also disappointed in that I'd called the restaurant, in the afternoon prior to our visit, and spoke to a hostess whose name I didn't get, about honoring one of the couples we were with who were celebrating their 50th anniversary. I was assured that it would be taken care of but nothing was provided so not sure where the communication breakdown occurred or if the word even got to the server. There was no expectation of any kind of comp but merely a surprise for them.
Really happy with the service. Food was good but not my favorite.
Outstanding experience! The table and ambiance was perfect for a special gathering, the waitress also gave us the perfect amount of attention, from menu descriptions to taking group pictures for us. The menu was also exceptional with many unique items that were clearly prepared by the chef with care and attention to detail. The octapus was really amazing! Will come back every time I am in ATL!
Second time in Atlanta and had to come back to this place! Great food, great service and great venue!
I came here for a business meeting and was very happy with the table location in the quieter atrium area away from the main room and bar. The server was great; attentive but leaving us time to talk before ordering, and recommending the guac and salsa tasting platter which was excellent. The roasted chicken mole main was good, but a little overpowered by the smoky mole sauce. Everyone enjoyed sharing the tres leches cake for dessert, so much so we ordered another.
