The elk and black bass were the specials and were wonderful. Excellent wine selections. Will definitely return.
From food to service, everything was exceptional. Taste, portion size, kid options, ambiance, menu options, staff interactions... you name it, it was great. We were on our end of the summer family vacation and wanted to do a nice dinner before leaving. Our hotel conceirage recommended and we’re glad we listened. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant and the next time we visit we plan to visit again.
WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL! I can’t say it enough. Everything was beyond amazing. The staff, the food, and the drinks.
Great service. Imaginative creative presentations of fresh, locally sourced food daringly prepared and presented. A very nice culinary Savannah ambassador.
Dinner was lovely, sat at the bar and had superior service. Oyster app & scallops were out of this world, fish was above average as well. The atmosphere was speakeasy chic and delightful.
The service has to be 5-Stars and the energy of our waiter was perfect!
When we visit Savannah again, this will be our go-to spot.
It was my birthday and I was away from my family for work. They were so accommodating and informative. That red deer was the most delicious piece of meat I have ever been served. The ousters were fantastic.
I also appreciated the little essert that I received for my birthday. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Natalie was awesome. Food was great as always. Oysters were delicious, red deer and lamb were cooked perfectly, and seasoned just right.
The service sucked my husband had to ask the waiter several times for a drink refill (the waiter kept for getting) and it took a considerably long time before our entree was bought to the table. The food was not great, especially for the price. I had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were small and wasn’t fresh and the grits were bland. I will not recommend this place to anyone!
Everything we ate was very flavorful and cooked just right!
Food and service was excellent, expect to pay for it, all though it’s off the chain it is pricey.
Cheese plate was out of this world! Definitely don’t miss it. Very cozy atmosphere underground.
Definitely worth the visit for the atmosphere. The food is amazing. Great use of flavors by the chef. If they have them you must ask for the Duck Fat Fried Potatoes.
Food was incredible (as always). Service was very good. Noise level was a little loud, but tolerable. But restaurant was too, too cold!
Always a great experience!
This is a must go yo if you are n Savannah. Unusual and fabulous menu; every course better than the one before. Attentive and knowledgeable wait staff too
Bumpy start as we came 20 minutes early and were directed to the bar, numerous tables open, Maitre De schooled us at the bar that’s she’s trying to even out the kitchen while self declaring herself twice as the manager. Literally was like being back in school. Restaurant never filled up the rest of the night, food was ok, waitress tried to make up for it.
Food was amazing. I would go back for the food if I could be assured that the wait staff would not be over exerted and able to handle the quantity of customers that management assigns. Our poor waiter was on his second night of employment and had way too many tables for such. To be the type of restaurant it is, the service did not stand up to expectations. This was in no way the waiters fault but rather the management did a poor job helping when they noticed the staff was overwhelmed.
Both the appetizers and main courses were delicious. We were too full to order dessert. We will come again for sure.
This is our "special occasion" restaurant. Always start with the grit croutons fried in duck fat and the charcuterie. The filet mignon is the best ever.
This place was amazing! I went with my family while we are on vacation. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and helped us so much! All of us loved everything we ordered. We will be back!
Alligator Soul was on our list for a long time. One of those places on the "must try list".
Food : totally disappointing. I will say the carving board/charcuterie was pretty good. Had lots to choose from (bone marrow, cheese, honeycomb, stone ground mustard, grapes, pear slices, meats) but an appetizer should never be a highlight of a meal. The baked oysters had waaaaay to much breadcrumb topping; dude, where is my oyster? My entree: chicken was dry, tasteless (menu promised it to be anything but), with over spiced collards, and almost inedible mac and cheese that was definitely not cheesy, covered in breadcrumbs (I mean covered to the point that when I scooped up a bite I got mostly a mouth full of dry breadcrumbs---what is with the breadcrumbs??? What is this chef trying to hide??), and just bland bland bland. You know you are in trouble if a restaurant in the south cannot give good mac and cheese.
Hubby's rib eye was also underwhelming. Dry, tasteless, oily over cooked potatoes served alongside made the whole plate look as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. It tasted that way, too.
Brother in law had shrimp and grits. Shrimp were rubbery and over cooked. And well, again: we should be able to depend on shrimp and grits. But no; just tasted like no love was in there. No savory smooth as velvet grits. No perfectly spiced rich buttery shrimp. Just another poor entry into now what was clearly a substandard night.
We didn't dare risk desert. At an almost $300 price tag for this completely inglorious meal, we had all had quite enough.
My third time at Alligator Soul. As usual it was fabulous Food was awsome, service was excellent. The whole dinning experience was above expectations. Lobe this place and plan on eating there every chance I get while in town.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere even though we were in close contact with other patrons. I would return to this location and I would also encourage coworkers to try this spot.
An absolute must when in downtown Savannah. Incredible food.
Great food and service. Loved the Sea Bass and the Grass fed Filet. Definitely will return again next time we are in Savannah.
The food was delicious We tried the alligator fritters fried tomatoes and oysters for appetizers they were all amazingly good our entrees were the ribeye diver scallops and the Chilean sea bass. I definitely am going back and I highly recommend it and our server was great
Great time and the drinks were great.
Alligator Soul is hands down our favorite restaurant in Savannah. The ambiance and food make dinner a beautiful experience. My husband says no one has better oysters, and I have yet to find a better filet. Oh, and don't forget dessert....banana beignets are to die for!!!
Fantastic menu. We started with a bourbon flight and cheese board with bone marrow, seared pork belly, cheeses and accoutrements. Then A round of baked oysters and sautéed mussels. Tilefish was the special and we ordered rare red deer 🦌 to make a surf and turf😀 Reservations recomended as there were no empty tables. Unfortunately no room for dessert. Can't wait till next visit
You must try the alligator fritters. They are the best. So is the Filet mignon. The wait staff is very friendly and knows the menu very well.
Great in all aspects. So glad you reopened after the flood. Can’t want to return to Savannah so I can go again. Cheers
This was our second visit to Alligator Soul and we enjoyed it as much as we did the first time. Great food, service and cocktails.
We went for a birthday dinner, just two of us. We had trouble finding the restaurant at first... its in the basement so you have to go down some stairs from the street. Loved the ambiance and the service was great. We had the carving board with bone marrow and pork belly... delicious! I had the diver scallops and they were cooked perfectly. He had the shrimp and grits, also very good.
Because our dinner was late in the evening, they had run out of the catch of the day which I was very much looking forward to. Other than that, everything was exactly how I'd expected. They even gave us two mini pecan pies for our birthday celebration.
Excellent, unexpected find. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were a brilliant twist on old classics and our waiter, Zebadiah, was awesome! We highly recommend Alligator Soul and ask for Zeb... you won't regret it. And, be sure to order the baked oysters.
Alligator Soul was delicious. Loved the scallops.
We had a wonderful meal and evening at Alligator asoul while on caca in Savannah. The service was impeccable and our waiter Misha was wonderful!!!
Amazing food & service!
