Great service and outstanding food
We had a wonderful time! The food, the service, the ambiance were all perfect! Our waiter Zach was phenomenal! He didn’t skip a beat!
Very nice place set below the street level. Enjoyed it and would definitely go back.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! From the greeting at the door, to them holding the door open as we left, everything was impeccable. We had the charcuterie plate that had two meat items (marrow and pork belly), three cheeses, bread/flat bread selections, fruit, homemade mustard (a super star), honey, and balsamic reduction.
I had the kangaroo (the exotic selection) and my husband had the lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection.
Natalie and all the support service staff were very polite, engaged and on top of their jobs.
Wonderful atomsphere, the staff was extremely helpful, knowledgable and kind. Spent our 15th Anniversary and was greeted with a “Happy Anniversary” from every employee. Definitely would reccommend to anyone for any occassion.
We were disappointed. The food was good, but not great. The same could be said for the service. Based upon a friend's recommendation, we expected more.
The best place in Savannah by far!!
An unanticipated pleasure:newly redecorated with great taste, phenomenal service with knowledgeable wait staff, interesting, well executed dishes. This exceeded expectations. My wife and I had the canapé, an interesting rendition of a roasted mushroom, then we had salads she the house and I the roasted mushroom. Both were very good Then she had the shrimp and grit and I a small order of the mussels. The house made bread was a welcomed treat. Good food at a good price a great value!
We always have a great time and look forward to taking our out of town guests to this fine establishment. The food, beverages and wait staff are phenomenal!
Best meal and service we had in our 8 days in Savannah. Creative and delicious.
Having previously dined at Alligator Soul I knew it would be the perfect spot to celebrate our daughters thirty-something birthday. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to our reservation time and were seated in the comfortable lounge area adjacent to the bar where we had a cocktail and chatted as we waited for our table. The wait went by in a blink of an eye and soon we were seated at a corner table and greeted by our waiter Zeb. He and the rest of the dining room staff made us comfortable and soon Zeb detailing the specials and offering wisened suggestions to our questions regarding wine and appetizers - we chose the carving board and a Pinot Gris. Our main courses included - kangaroo - my wife appreciated the preparation and she compared it to very tender venison, our daughter chose the flounder baked in parchment paired with couscous - when the staff peeled open the parchment at the table and the steam rose carrying with it the flavors and scents of the dish we all wished we also chose the flounder. I had a tough time making my choice but picked the Lamb Chops Fire Grilled Free Range Lamb Chops ~ Roasted Red Potatoes ~ Garden Carrots and Snow Peas ~ Parmigiano Reggiano ~ Peach Mint Jelly. We finished with coffee and Banana Beignets. It was a very relaxed and easy meal prepared to perfection and served by an excellent staff. I highly recommend the food and experience of dining at Alligator Soul.
Very tasty, lovely ambiance and attentive service.
Our experience at Alligator Soul was absolutely awesome. Our waiter recommended a wonderful bottle of wine (Conundrum) and he was probably the best waiter we have ever had. He gave extensive descriptions of the specials and was very personable and witty too.
Our meal was delicious and we had time to savor it in a wonderful, quiet atmosphere.
We enjoyed the entire experience of dining at Alligator Soul.
Alligator Soul was one of those meals that became an experience. Was truly outstanding from minute one. The cocktails were excellent. Oysters were truly phenomenal and the “exotic dish” of the evening was simply outstanding. Very cool setting. Service was absolutely spot on. If you are looking for something unique and special in Savannah this is the place to pick
Bartender in our hotel recommended this place. It was a bit more upscale than we thought but not intimidating. Our server was great. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the beef. We also had the fried green tomatoes. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Bread was also particularly good. We enjoyed our evening.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Server, appetizers food...SPOT ON
One of three anniversary celebrations in our part of the restaurant. Every part we delightful.
We were disappointed overall! 😔 Two tables next to us had a different server and what seemed to be a much better experience.
My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of trying Alligator Soul while in Savannah. The good reviews are legit. The menu was concise but had multiple items we wanted to try. The charcuterie board was AMAZING and the perfect way to start our meal. I had the small portion of shrimp and grits and my friend tried the diver scallops- both excellent choices. Our server was personable and knowledgable- and we would have never known it was her first night on the floor. She was great! The ambiance wasn't stuffy and we thoroughly enjoyed spending several hours at our table!
A curious experience. We arrived at 7:10 PM for a 7:30 PM reservation. We were told we would have to wait in the "lounge" for our table. When I observed that I could see 6 set up but unoccupied tables from the reservation desk, I was told we would have to wait until our appointed time. So we sat down on a sofa in a corner, overlooked by a rusty gun hung from a chimney with unlit fireplace, and ordered drinks. At 7:30 a waitress came over, escorted us past the 6 still unoccupied tables around a corner to our table. I would love to hear a clear explanation for that situation - none was forthcoming from the Alligators . Dinner meal and waitstaff were fine, but we could not help wondering if the lounge gambit was a not so subtle way to push a drink order from us. My conclusion is the front of the house needs a tune up.
Amazing meal, and they were very careful with my gluten sensitivity! Everything we ordered had an excellent flavor.
Service was absolutely top notch. Our waiter and manager were attentive to every detail. We felt welcomed, like we were regulars even... and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Really a perfect spot.
The staff is very genuine, something that will keep us going back again and again (besides the fantastic food!)
Great ambience and delicious food. Excellent service. Delicious oysters. Will definitely return when back in Savannah.
Had a great meal here. Very cool vibe! Nice wine selection and terrific service.
Although we live 75 miles away, for years Alligator Soul has been one of my favorite restaurants. I sadly must now say that I am not likely to return. Our meal on Saturday May 12, 5:00pm reservation was so bad it could not be finished. I ordered the Flounder special which came with a side of couscous. It was presented still wrapped in parchment and as our server unwrapped it oily liquid splashed all around the plate onto the utensils and tablecloth. The fish was steaming profusely and swimming in the unappealing liquid. The server suggested that I dump the couscous onto the plate to soak it up which I did. The sight was very unappetizing but I still hoped that I would enjoy my entree. The fish was so overdone that it had broken down to tiny flakes amongst the floating couscous. My husband offered me half of his pork chop but it too was so dry that it too was left uneaten. Our server did not acknowledge that our dinners were mostly uneaten and asked if we wanted dessert. Of course by this time we declined.
We loved the bone marrow and charcuterie platter, grouper was great as was the shrimp and grits. My only problem was that our server wouldn't shut up, he was so excited about everything and wanted to go on and on about the descriptions for food and drinks that we could barely get a word in edge wise to give our orders. All is coworkers were hilarious and friendly making jokes to us when he wasn't at our table. I would go back only if I knew we would not be in his section.
One of the very best meals we have ever had. The Axis Deer and Bacon Wrapped Filet was Phenomenal! The sweet potato gratin was a little al dente for my taste but the flavors were delicious. The scallops were delectable and Alligator Fritters just beautifully done. We were treated very nicely and felt spoiled by the staff! Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
Delicious baked oysters, barely cooked so not tough. Fillet was SO tender with grits & black eyed peas, gumbo good. Really appreciated the ability to order half portions since some of us don't eat that much. Our waiter was pleasant, but forgot to offer bread and totally ignored us after some young women in low-cut dresses sat down. After 20 minutes of no service, we left without ordering desert/coffee.
The food here was so good that we will return and hope for a more attentive waiter
Waiter gave impression what he had somewhere more important to be . Food was OK but I would rather they changed the menu .
Just plain AMAZING. Had anniversary dinner which they had a surprise for us waiting at the table. We will definitely be back.
A great farm to table dining! Recipes are very creative and delicious. The waiter was very well informed and even suggested a cocktail to my husband that was great. The great thing for vegetarians or vegans is the offer on the menu that the chef will make you a delicious dish with the days vegetables. We had an early reservation so the place was quiet and cozy but as it got more crowded the louder it became.
Service slow, restrooms out of supplies
I was very disappointed in the quality of the food, which did not justify the price. I ordered the "Little Hilbo" which was the 16 oz rib eye with "duck fat pommes frites" as my entrée. The steak was tough and the pommes frites were nothing more than cold French fries (and having had the duck fat fried potatoes at another local restaurant recently, these did not compare at all, either in flavor or quality.) My dining partner ordered the stuffed pork chop, which was full of gristle (to the point of, after eating a little more than half, he stopped). Our server was very good, and I could not fault her for the quality of the meal. However, I would not recommend this restaurant to friends.
Fabulous find underground! Food was beyond delicious! All farm to table!!!Manager was awesome and our waiter Ryan we all wanted to take home! Hahaha I would definitely recommend this place before leaving Savannah!
We are vacationing in Florida. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the service was great. We would highly recommend.
Really enjoyed my diver scallops and alligator fritters. My boyfriend liked his lamb. Beautiful presentations. Great , knowledgeable staff.
Great spot if looking for sensational service and food. Our first time in Savannna and everyone we talked too said it was outstanding. We agree!
Great as usual!
Very good service, food, and atmosphere. Was our favorite restaurant out of the 4 nights we spent in Savannah.
Great food and service!
