Alligator Soul Ratings and Reviews
Alligator Soul is a must for us when visiting Savannah. The food and service is just outstanding. Our server, Daniel was very knowledgeable about the menu and even provided information about local areas we had questions about. The Oysters A La Soul are my favorite appetizer and were delicious as always. Red deer was the exotic offering for the evening and it was cooked perfectly. This has to be the best restaurant in Savannah!
Had a really nice dinner here. They do push the culinary envelope a bit. I had gator egg rolls as an appetizer, something I wouldn’t normally eat . Shrimp and grits for entree and a delicious salted caramel martini after dinner. They do offer an exotic meat entree. The night I went they featured red tail deer, though they sometimes have elk and other venison. Overall everything was well prepared and my server, Davis, was attentive without being intrusive
Had a issue with one of the drinks. Spoke with the waiter about it. He was very kind on his response. The manager then come to the table and was extremely rude so we just excepted the drink as it was. Very embarrassing to business partners. Great Food but would not recommend for busseniess outings.
We ordered a bottle of wine and it took 45 minutes for it to come, and when it did it was the wrong bottle. So another 10 passed before it arrived. Then we didn’t get our food until 1:30 after we sat down, and both dishes were cold. We then had to hurry as we had plans after dinner but we were told they could get us another dish because it takes no time.... Having waited an 1:30 for food and it wasn’t very busy at all (Tuesday night) we were in sheer disbelief but sure enough if showed right up. We ended up having to scarf down our food but had lost our appetite. Dinner wasn’t cheap either . We complained and nobody ever came to talk to us. Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had in a very very long time. Very disappointing since we were celebrating our anniversary and this place had had such good reviews.
We always enjoy eating here when in Savannah. But this visit may be our last. From seating to completion was over 3 hours, most of which was spent waiting on our food. And it was a 'not crowded' weeknight. We took friends with us for this visit and were a bit embarrassed as we had bragged so much on this place based on our past experiences.
My husband and I went there for our wedding anniversary. It was our first time going there, and we were extremely impressed with our waiter and the taste of the food! I had the gumbo and my husband had the steak. Both meals were so delicious! We were impressed with our whole experience from beginning to end. We will definitely be going back there, soon!
Easily one of the best meals we have had in Savannah! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and was quick to offer suggestions and even convince us to try some items outside of our typical choices - and we were not disappointed. The exotic specialty was a Red Deer that was sensational! It was cooked to perfection and is pretty much what dreams are made of.
The drunken mussels are addictive. The broth was so good that I just wished I had things to dip in it (or that it was appropriate to drink) it was just that good!
Atmosphere was romantic but the temperature of the restaurant was a bit on the warm side. Their organic cocktails are made very well and I recommend trying the Etta James. We definitely plan on returning!
Disappointed in the service and noise level. Could not have a conversation due to noise level. The Baby Back Gumbo was not edible, pouring of Proseco was poor, asked for it to be served with meal, was served before meal and improperly poured, was warm before meal arrived. Sazerac coctail served in a small juice glass! Poor experience for a fine dining class restaurant and not worth prices charged
This is a must dine when in Savannah. It is top notch and they have some unique dishes (elk, ostrich) along with great scallops, must have bread and wonderful service and cocktails. Go here as we have been multiple times and it is excellent.
Found Alligator Soul online and wanted to go here after reading the menu. The food was great and our server Matthew was excellent. It was a little big noisy from a private group in the next room (separated by only two curtains from the rest of the dining room). We had a great experience nonetheless. We'll book again when we're back in Savannah!
The overall dining experience was a good one. Excellent service and attention. Unfortunately my filet Mignon was dry and ambiance of low lighting made my ability to check the temperature of the steak was medium rare was difficult. The restaurant tried to accommodate my gluten free diet, but not a lot of options. My husband's wild boar was also dry with little sauce. Loved the mushroom arugula salad! We were recommended by friends for the unique menu choices, but food was not what we were expecting.
Walked in and immediately greeted by name, correctly assumed we were reservation to be seated in a moment. Many said happy anniversary as we went to table. Had a small box labeled happy anniversary to my husband and me. Food was a bit different from norm and incredible! We shared dishes to be able to taste more, without asking kitchen plated on two plates for us so both had lovely presentation. Much nicer than many old famous restaurants in area, this is a real gem for a special meal.
Be aware it is a steep flight of stairs down to get to front door of restaurant NOT handicap friendly
My tuna was delish but hubby filet wrapped in bacon was good but not not great. The mushroom salads were delish and the croutons in my salad were amazing! We enjoyed our night but had better while in Savannah. We did get a special little box of tiny pies for my husband's birthday though. Nice touch.
One of the best places I have been too period! Ambiance was spectacular, really well laid out and classic in a modern hip sort of way. I had a vegan meal that was outstanding and my husband had an alligator roll and Elk as a main course. We both thought our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. I am from NY, just outside of the city and have eaten at many fine places... this place is a real gem!
