The food and experience was amazing! Our waitress provided great recommendations and she they didn’t disappoint. Definitely try ALL of the appetizers, the lamb and swordfish.
Out of towner guests
Excellent wait staff. Food was very disappointing. 4 small small scallops hidden under a mound of vegetables. Don’t mind spending more than $30 for an entree but that was ridiculous.
Celebrated my 40th Birthday and the waiter made it extra special! Food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was nice as well! Highly recommend Alligator Soul!!
Food is inventive and delicious. Wait staff informed and engaging. A wonderful experience.
Absolutely incredible, our first meal ever in Savannah and it will be hard to beat!
This was our second visit. The first was 2 years ago when passing through Savannah; this was again a passing through visit and we selected it because our first visit was so wonderful. The ambiance is nice, unless you are seated in the entry area where everyone must pass, as we were this time. Food choices are quite good - we specifically came for the exotic entrees and were disappointed that there was only one available, venison, which for many isn't very exotic. All this would have been acceptable, but our waiter was aloof, didn't listen to our wishes, attempted to served us on his schedule not ours, and otherwise ignored us. As we don't live in the area we will not choose to return. If we did live closer we might try it again.
We were in Savannah for our Anniversary and decided to make a reservation at Alligator Soul. It was an awesome experience. Great food, great wait staff and a very nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend it.
Has a “speakeasy” type feel to the decor. The service was flawless. They worked diligently to cater to some of our dietary restrictions.
Portions were generous. Fresh ingredients, balanced by the local spice influence. Would happily return for more delicious food!
Food was ok. The alligator tempura was a little chewy but their house made sauce is really good. The tempura batter was also really good. The baked oysters were just ok. There was too much untouched breadcrumbs on top that were not part of the stuffing flavor. They just sat untouched and unflavored on top. The filet was very good.
Our waitress was good when she was at the table but her service was really slow. She didn’t check on us much and made the experience frustrating. Definitely a star down cuz of her. I won’t mention her name but she really stunk
Food was amazing. Staff was exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the drink and food menu. Space was beautiful and quiet! Absolutely worth it.
Great service and romantic meal. Would recommend. We went for our honeymoon
Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend! Our waiter Kenon was fantastic!
Bethany provided outstanding service. She was charming and professional. The food was fantastic...especially, the banana beignets. We easily could see why Alligator Soul is so highly rated.
Excellent service and food
While the food was good, I expected to be more impressed with what is supposed to be one if the best restaurants in Savannah. The flavors were relatively basic in most dishes and left something to be desired.
One of the best places I have ever eaten, atmosphere was fantastic and service was was beyond exceptional!
Top 10 restaurant, worldwide that we have been at..,from Jordan to Oregon.
Outstanding all around
We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We took our 7 year old for her birthday dinner and she definitely enjoyed her petit filet. There was a little package with two tiny little desserts waiting on the table with a happy birthday wish. My 8 year old was daring and had the seafood gumbo which was a little spicy for her but she made it halfway through the dish. It was perfect for me. The lamb chops were out of this world but the portions were very tiny even for me as I usually eat less portion size wise than my kids. My husband had the seared scallops which were also amazing but again only came with 5 scallops. The girls even loved the tempura alligator. The drinks were some of the best we had here during our week in Savannah. This will more than likely be a stop for when we return to Savannah again next year.
Amazing menu with unique entrees. Our waiter was extremely attentive and the service was excellent.
Food was excellent, we had the mussels appetizer and I had the swordfish special. The wine list was extensive and very well priced.
Delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Perfect evening.
The Carving Board and Oysters were outstanding!! The peach crepe cake was bland to say the least, hard to even understand how its on the menu but throughly enjoyed our actual meal.
Great evening! Our waiter Kelly was friendly and professional. Our appetizers of oysters and tempura alligator were great. The gumbo entree was fantastic! My swordfish was good but never had swordfish cut so thin, so would t have it again. Flourless chocolate cake was heavenly!
While our meals were delicious, the best part of our experience was our server, Kenon. He made well-considered recommendations and was clearly a very experienced waiter. The cocktails were creative and yummy, but a bit on the pricey side for the serving size.
Gumbo is great. Fresh catch swordfish was good too. Had the banana beneits which honestly could be for 4-6 people to share. Was so good but way too Mumford three. Absolutely loved the venue. Try not to wear shorts or tee shirts as you will stand out- it’s just a bit more dressy and has older clientele
Was there for our first meal in Savannah, the hostess couldn’t be nicer. The food was amazing! Sadly the server was about as slow as a turtle on hot concrete. Totally forgot about us, left dirty dishes on the table for at least 45 min. We were there for over two hours, we watched tables for two turn three times for other waiters. We weren’t in a hurry, but for crying out loud don’t ignore us. It wasn’t until the hostess noticed us three different times until she went and searched out the waiter. We will come back for the food but I’ll run if I ever see that waiter again.
In short, this dinner was amazing. Service was impeccable, never wanted for anything, timing was perfect. We ordered 4 entrees, all of which were great. My daughter got the Hilbo ribeye and she said it was the best steak she's ever had. It was huge and we ended up sharing it with her and she wasn't wrong. We were still reminiscing about it the next day.
We were seated promptly then never saw anyone for 10-15 min. The waiter seemed overwhelmed. I also understand probably understaffed as this time. Loved the food and wine. Everyone was happy with their choices. We enjoyed the eclectic menu options . Nice romantic atmosphere. We would definitely go back.
We had a wonderful meal and experience at Alligator Soul. Danny provided great service and gumbo, in particular, was the best!
Elegant but not stuffy. Fun and comfortable but the highest quality of service. Our waiter was exceptional and helped us to celebrate a very significant event. It was a delightful!
Amazing! Best overall dining experience ever! Food was outstanding, the whole experience is perfect
Wait staff was very helpful. Ambience is wonderful. Everything was prepared perfectly.
Had a fantastic dinner last night celebrating our 20th anniversary. The food, ambience and great service by our server Danny and the lovely hostess Ally made foe a truly memorable night!
The place has a great ambiance to it. Not much seating but intimate. The waiter was very attentive and the shrimp and grits were delicious! But the real star of the show is the focaccia bread and the chive honey butter. I could’ve had that for my meal!! A very nice dinner.
Great place to eat! A hidden gem and it’s very much like a castle inside!! Food was absolutely scrumptious! It was my favorite place that we ate at in Savannah!! A must try dining experience!
Phenomenal restaurant! This is our go to restaurant for a night out. The food is always delicious! The seasonal pairings are spot on! The ambience of the place allows you to feel comfortable in casual or dressed up. I always recommend this place to visitors as a must try local restaurant.
Everything we ordered was incredible. Aligator tempura and mushroom salad for appetizers, swordfish and Austrian red deer for entrees, and fried dough with chocolate habenero ice cream for dessert. While the ice cream sounds like an odd flavor combination it is perfectly balanced and the heat from the habenero doesn't build as you eat.
Absolutely fantastic! Excellent food and service, the best meal my husband and I have had in a long time.
I booked this restaurant weeks before from Kansas City. We were staying on Tybee Island and wanted to come over to Savannah for dinner one night. COULD NOT FIND A TAXI! I called the restaurant to cancel after three rejections for a ride. The representative who answered, named Allie, said she'd find us a ride. And she did! We got a taxi, round trip, thanks to her. And our meal was superb. Mussels, mushroom salad, watermelon salad, gumbo, scallops. Great wine, great service. Highly recommend. Superb wine list too.
PS We booked the taxi for our ride to the airport too! Thanks Allie!
