Allgauer's Ratings and Reviews
The prime rib roast was great! The crab legs were good, but they were chilled, with no drawn butter available. They were fresh, not salty as some are at buffets, sweet and tasty, but if they were warm with butter that would have made a better experience. The peel and eat shrimp were also very good. The oysters, unfortunately, were not fresh. You have to be very careful with how long a shucked oyster sits, even if it is on ice they do not hold freshness for a long time. Sushi is the same. You simply cannot allow sushi to sit on a buffet too long. They had a couple of good salads. The rest of the buffet selection was not great. Simply not enough to choose from that suited my taste. For the price I would not return. I did have a slice of cheese cake, and it was very good.
Went for NYE, so the menu was more limited, however there was still a variety of good options -- regular menu choices are more abundant. Good quality food at a reasonable price compared to other similar restaurants. It is in the Hilton Hotel, which has a nice bar area to visit before the meal.
This is the second year in a row we went to Allgauers on Christmas Eve for the buffet.
Last year everything was excellent, even if a bit pricey, and we were excited to return this year.
Unfortunately the service this year was awful. From the moment we sat down it seemed we were invisible. Our server was curt, brought our initial drinks and disappeared from our table. I had to go ask another server to find our server to get another drink. I had to ask the front desk girl for water refills, and I had to stack and remove our dirty plates to another table as nobody came by to pick them up. The bill for 4 of us came to $190, and I had to ask another server to take my payment - Ridiculous! I did leave a $10 tip because it was Christmas, but wrote a note on the receipt regarding the awful service. On our way out, I also expressed my dissatisfaction and listed all of the above. No concessions were offered. Very disappointing.
The food is always great here. The service and ambiance are fine. We love to bring our families and relatives here for holiday buffets. I wish they had the Baked Alaska here on each holiday buffet but I guess that is not always the case. I always ask, since it is one of the main reasons why I come here but don't know when they will serve it. That would be my only suggestion since I know other people love it too.
Pretty disappointed today as the buffet was closed and we had to order off the menu. I was treating my work team to Lunch and had been talking about how wonderful the buffet was. We walked in and no buffet. I was shocked and embarrassed.
We did order of the menu, but it’s just not the same. This was a special Christmas lunch and it was not as anticipated.
Excellent Sunday Brunch
Our group came here simply because of proximity to our son’s wedding venue, and we were a little nervous about inviting others to a brunch we never had experienced. We were relieved that the variety and presentation was outstanding, as was the quality. Our group was sat in a room that was a small ballroom, so it didn’t see seem very cozy, but there was a window with a view of the ice sculpture. I would make the drive again...
Had not been to Allgauers for a few years. We both had excellent dinners! I had the onion soup, and chicken and my husband had the potato crusted halibut and special salad.
We shared the peanut butter ice cream pie for dessert which was also wonderful.
We will return soon to do it again!!
Have gone to Allgauers many times for Sunday brunch
My sister and wanted to have lunch there (heard their hamburgers were outstanding!!!
Instead we saw they had a lunch buffet to die for
Sirloin of beef
Mashed potatoes and gravy
3 kinds of chicken
Desserts including cheese cake and cookies
What a delight from 11asm to 2pm
I had not been to the Friday Night Seafood & Prime Rib buffet for quite some time. In years past it had been very good but I can no longer say that. The carving station was not always manned. The salad selection was marginal and the oysters were gone early on as were the crab legs. Dessert items were limited and also in short supply.
