Great service and excellent food. Their brunch has everything you could want.
Excellent food expensive ., need to clean outside Windows’s to the river spring or not very dirty ..all year clean view!
We went for the Friday fish fry and had the catfish. It was excellent.
we went for the Friday Fish Fry, and it was very good. It was an all-you-can-eat dinner, with 5 different types of fish. HOWEVER, we were very disappointed in general. We had called ahead for a reservation for a party of 7, thinking that we wouldn't get fast seating otherwise, but the dining room was basically empty. I had requested a table by the window, but was told that they were reserved for parties of 4. The entire time we were there, no one was seated at any of those tables, however we were in the 3rd row back from the window. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! We were celebrating a birthday, but by the end of dinner we just wanted to get out of there, so we didn't even request the "birthday cupcake". So for fish fry I would recommend it, otherwise NOT SO MUCH>
Allegauer's offers the best Sunday buffet brunch in north suburban Chicago.
They feature a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, something for everyone, ideal for those of us who like to graze. We had three or four different plates of food, including some scrumptious salads and desserts.
One area where they could improve is the breads they offer. The bagels were stale. The other breads were ordinary at best. A top-quality buffet charging a premium price should provide a variety of fresh-baked breads and rolls.
That aside, we had an excellent meal and will definitely return.
Food was good, not outstanding. Way too expensive.
Would not recommend due to cost per person.
This is not our first time at Allgauer's but definitely one of the best experiences. The food is always good but this visit the food was spectacular! The crab was DElicious!!
This is an awesome brunch. You are never hurried. The food is great variety and always delicious. I love to go for special events in my life.
The restaurant has a long and positive history with my family. We came to Allgauer's for lunch on a Saturday, for sentimental reasons.
I was disappointed to see the condition of the furniture in the mostly empty dining room. Our waiter took our drink order and returned with the wrong drinks. He informed us that the bartender had not yet arrived and he was trying to prepare the drinks himself. A valiant effort, but a disappointment to have to change our order to meet the abilities of our waiter. The Allgauer's I remember, was always able to prepare cocktails to order. In the end, we were served the most forgettable Bloody Mary cocktails we have ever had. In addition, we waited almost 25 minutes for the order to arrive "correctly".
Our meal, simply salads, also took a very long time and were light on dressing. When we requested more, it was delivered after we finished our meals.
It is a sad to see a once remarkable restaurant only recognizable by the location.
The price point for Allgauer’s brunch is quite good for what you get. $42 includes champagne, crab legs, oysters, salmon and other seafood. They had a delicious seafood station with a chef that prepared a mixed seafood of mussels, clams and scallops in a wine broth. This was the best thing on the buffet. Unfortunately, the main problems occurred with the overall service. Our reservation was at 2. When we arrived our table was not set, and the waiter haphazardly brought over random pieces of silverware and glassware a few pieces at a time and placed them randomly on the table. Bizarre. Many of the food stations were not manned and they seemed reluctant to fill and replace missing items. If you take late reservations, you should continue to operate a full buffet. One example was the poached salmon. The salmon displayed was mere picked over bones. When I realized they were not replenishing it, they acted annoyed when I asked them to bring out more. This was also true of the eggs Benedict station. It was almost completely closed, and they had to bring out the equipment to serve it to us. All the ingredients were cold and not fresh. Before we were done eating, they loudly started cleaning up around us and packing up the buffet. Our stated time for the buffet was 2-3:30. They should not have started cleaning up until 3:30. It is a pet peeve of mine when restaurants start their closing procedures while guests are still dining. Our waiter was quite nice, and took pictures for us in front of the fireplace. I would consider trying Allgauer’s again; but I would make an earlier reservation to see if the service was better.
As usual, the Sunday Buffet Brunch was wonderful -- wide selection of amazing food. I am never disappointed with Allgauer's Sunday Buffet Brunch -- I wish they would bring back their daily lunch buffet. This is my absolute favorite Sunday Buffet Brunch!
Sunday brunch is awesome and a great value. Excellent selection including oysters, crab legs, shrimp, carving station, pasta bar, cheese and salads and chocolate fountain and deserts. Wow! Best I've found in the Northwest Suburbs. Service was prompt and everyone was very friendly. Oh yes and all the Champagne you would like.
Service for great. Food is delicious. Worth going here for Sunday brunch or special occasions.
The menu was not what was on open table went for brunch and it was like a free continental breakfast at a bad hotel
Horrible service. Must not have had wait staff tonight as we had the room service gentleman as our server. No knowledge of menu! Prices are ridiculous.
This was probably the most atrocious dining experience I've had. No one there remotely likes their job. Servers were nonexistent, orders were terribly wrong and tepid water for tea. The apathy was stunning and the food mediocre. This was a business breakfast. Rest assured I will not return. Not @hyatt's best foot forward.
The birthday celebration went well and we will return to Allgauer's again soon.
Loved the place. Easter Sunday was fantastic and have gone 2 years in a row...would definitely recommend it.
I had very high expectations based on the reviews that were posted on many websites for this restaurant and the buffet was highly recommended. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience.
When we first arrived we were told that our reservation on Open Table could not be met since the buffet hours were from 10 to 4 that day ( we had clicked 9:30 on Open Table). The hostess went on to say that they had tried to contact me on 2 occasions and had left voicemail messages for me with regards to this issue. I have my phone on me at all times and I did not have any missed calls or messages (had I known this I likely would have cancelled). So the start of our experience was less than stellar. They did however sit us in our table but we had to wait until 10 when the buffet opened. We were given drinks while we waited.
Once the buffet opened we were thrilled. The options for breakfast were very limited and the items that we did choose we cold. For the opening of a buffet you would expect the food to be hot. We did get the omelet as this was made fresh to order.
The non-breakfast items were good but the same with regards to cold/luke warm.
The flow of the whole setup was not well laid out. The line for breakfast was crazy long at times and I was thankful we did arrive when we did.
The service was okay throughout the beginning but we waited far too long for our check.
I would not recommend this location and we will likely never go back.
We always go for their Sunday brunch to celebrate special occasions. We went for my mom’s birthday and they didn’t disappoint. They even brought out a birthday cupcake with a candle while we sang. We always go for their Mother’s Day Brunch and already made our reservations!
Lovely time for the four of us. Service and food were wonderful. We will be back and already have our reservations for Mother's Day Brunch!
The service was amazing. There was so much to eat and so many varieties that pretty much everyone can find something to eat. The view was great if you sit by the window. Well worth the price.
It was my 50th birthday brunch celebration.
The tablecloth was ripped in two areas, the napkins were very wrinkled, the Mimosa (twice) had WAY too much champagne,. The coffee mug was dirty.
The food was good, except for the roasted vegetables, they were unedible, the chef didn’t clean his pan prior to making my omelette and it turned out to be greasy., I could only eat the non greasy sides. The seared scallops were WAY too greasy and a tad over cooked.
I was really really disappointed.
Wonderful for special occasions . Very nice brunch , great selection .
The seafood buffet is much smaller than it used to be. The items were fresh and delicious but not as many choices. Surprisingly, there were very few people in the restaurant at dinner time.
Love Allgauer's for Sunday brunch! Excellent, wide variety of foods and bottomless mimosas.
Three of us had Sunday Buffet Brunch and we were extremely pleased and impressed. They have substantially upgraded since the last time we had brunch there. More spacious set-up made it easy to navigate. More expansive hot, made/served-to-order offerings. Tons of delicious choices. Food was excellent, server was pleasant and efficient. Great experience!
I was disappointed when I dined in with my family. We frequently come to Drury Lane and we found out there’s one close by my house same as Drury Lane’ Sunday brunch. Our server was excellent but there were few variety of food compared to Drury Lane. The food doesn’t look fresh as well. The only plus side is, it is not as packed as Drury Lane. I don’t recommend their Sunday brunch.
First time to visit and our dinner party was unimpressed. Service was very slow and food was just ok, will not return
I had eaten here a couple years ago. Overall it was decent but my breakfast sausage was undercooked and although they open for breakfast early the omelette station wasn't setup until like 9:30-10am and we had already eaten by then. I'm not sure I'd go back for breakfast unless there was an event there or I was meeting someone staying there. That said I have had dinner/lunch there a couple times and it was very good. Maybe the lesson is to order off the menu and not do their breakfast buffet.
We previously have celebrated special family events with a Sunday brunch at Allgauers. This time, we were appalled at the brunch, and we won't be coming back.
Food selection was limited (for example, no ham); service was at best negligent (up to ten used plates never removed from our table); and food preparation was lackluster (roast beef was tasteless, salads were dull).
had the salad bar with soup and desert. everything was good.
Needs a new Chef, food was tasteless
The food was delicious and the service was impeccable, I highly recommend this restaurant for pleasurable dining.
Overpriced, average food, skip! We couldn't have been more disappointed.
Great and comfortable
The food was delicious. We ordered salmon, fillet and chicken and all were great. Two of us ordered the lobster bisque which was fantastic. The waiter was excellent.
We had a long dinner and talked a lot with no push to get us out the door.
A conversation friendly room with wonderful views near the windows. Varied menu and wonderful Sunday brunch.
Father's Day Brunch - Wonderful salad selection. Little things missing - cream cheese for bagels, crackers for cheeses. Great selection of all brunch categories. The service however really brought it down. Multiple requests needed for coffee, water, and mimosa refills. Very slow at clearing plates. Also the room was very warm which made it unpleasant.
Went for lunch--4 of us. Food was good. Service was not great. Waiter did not bring menus, forgot who ordered what, never cleared our plates (we ended up setting them on the table next to us which was dirty and was like that all through our lunch). Food took a long time. The restaurant was not crowded at all--2 other tables besides ours. I got up and found the coffee pot so I could refill my father's coffee--more than once. Disappointing.
