Allgauer's on the Riverfront Ratings and Reviews
It was my 50th birthday brunch celebration.
The tablecloth was ripped in two areas, the napkins were very wrinkled, the Mimosa (twice) had WAY too much champagne,. The coffee mug was dirty.
The food was good, except for the roasted vegetables, they were unedible, the chef didn’t clean his pan prior to making my omelette and it turned out to be greasy., I could only eat the non greasy sides. The seared scallops were WAY too greasy and a tad over cooked.
I was really really disappointed.
Three of us had Sunday Buffet Brunch and we were extremely pleased and impressed. They have substantially upgraded since the last time we had brunch there. More spacious set-up made it easy to navigate. More expansive hot, made/served-to-order offerings. Tons of delicious choices. Food was excellent, server was pleasant and efficient. Great experience!
I was disappointed when I dined in with my family. We frequently come to Drury Lane and we found out there’s one close by my house same as Drury Lane’ Sunday brunch. Our server was excellent but there were few variety of food compared to Drury Lane. The food doesn’t look fresh as well. The only plus side is, it is not as packed as Drury Lane. I don’t recommend their Sunday brunch.
I had eaten here a couple years ago. Overall it was decent but my breakfast sausage was undercooked and although they open for breakfast early the omelette station wasn't setup until like 9:30-10am and we had already eaten by then. I'm not sure I'd go back for breakfast unless there was an event there or I was meeting someone staying there. That said I have had dinner/lunch there a couple times and it was very good. Maybe the lesson is to order off the menu and not do their breakfast buffet.
We previously have celebrated special family events with a Sunday brunch at Allgauers. This time, we were appalled at the brunch, and we won't be coming back.
Food selection was limited (for example, no ham); service was at best negligent (up to ten used plates never removed from our table); and food preparation was lackluster (roast beef was tasteless, salads were dull).
Father's Day Brunch - Wonderful salad selection. Little things missing - cream cheese for bagels, crackers for cheeses. Great selection of all brunch categories. The service however really brought it down. Multiple requests needed for coffee, water, and mimosa refills. Very slow at clearing plates. Also the room was very warm which made it unpleasant.
Went for lunch--4 of us. Food was good. Service was not great. Waiter did not bring menus, forgot who ordered what, never cleared our plates (we ended up setting them on the table next to us which was dirty and was like that all through our lunch). Food took a long time. The restaurant was not crowded at all--2 other tables besides ours. I got up and found the coffee pot so I could refill my father's coffee--more than once. Disappointing.
Food selection was good but food which should have been hot was like warm at best. No seafood forks or frackers out for the crab legs, which weren't split. Rock on the PA (love it but not at brunch - how about piano or jazz?). Host stopped and spoke to servers while taking us to our table - didn't excuse himself - and didn't pull out any chairs - it's like we weren't even there. At $180+ for four (before tip), I expect a lot more. The servers, however, were friendly and attentive.
We were seated on time by a very pleasant hostess. The food was delicious & the servers were excellent! Kept our drinks flowing & plates cleared, great service. The brunch food was kept full & food area very appealing. More than enough choices for any type of diet.
Allgauers is great place to celebrate for any occasion. Thank you we will be back!
Went for the Friday fish fry, our first time. Service was terrible, drinks were small and seemed a bit watered down, potato pancakes were the size of a quarter, cole slaw was in a thimble size little cup, fries were cold. The fish was okay although they advertised walleye, cod and perch but only had cod and perch. Then to make matters worse when we presented the coupon we had received in the mail that very day ($5.00 off) wasn't accepted. The waiter said the fish fry wasn't on the everyday menu .......WHAT!!! The only exclusions were the seafood buffet and one other steak & something. If we hadn't wanted to get out of there as soon as we could we would have made an issue of it. What a disappointment!!! Will never go back and will tell others not to waste their time or money there!!!
My experience was not that great. For almost $200 it was not worth it. The most positive was that the food was decent. When we could get it. The food was hardly replaced when empty. The carving station and omelette station should be two separate stations with two people working it. I waited 25 minutes for a slice of prime rib. There were large groups of people and they were way understaffed. Our plates were not cleared away and piled up 5-6 at a time. But our server kept coming to our table offering my 6 year olds more orange juice when I kept saying no more for them. Very disappointing and a waste of $200 of hard earned money. So sad. Lesson learned!!
Unfortunately the food was as bad as I remember it to be. We hadn't been there for dinner in quite a long time. The place was empty and I understand why. We won't return there and it's a shame because it's a beautiful room. The wait staff was fine but OMG the food was overly expensive.
We have been spending Christmas Eve here for the last ten years and won't be going back. The waitress was kind but injured and seemed to be the only one there. For the money the good was subpar, the service long and non existent and a mediocre way to spend a family dinner. A chain restaurant would have been better on every count.
Glad we had a coupon.....our waiter was brand new & did not have a clue when I asked if there were any "specials" to consider in fact he had to get the hostess to tell us about the special....the alfredo sauce was very runny (like milk) and the shrimp & scallops lukewarm & kind of slimy.....the chicken parmesan was a breaded patty that looked like it came out of a box over pasta which had very little sauce and there was no sauce or cheese on the patty. Allgauer's is certainly not the restaurant I remember it to be.....very disappointed!
My absolute favorite place for Sunday buffet brunch and Weekday buffet lunch. Outstanding, wide selection of great food, and an okay price point. Sunday brunch is $39 and Weekday buffet lunch is either $12 (soup, salad bar and dessert bar) or $18 (soup, salad bar, hot entrees and dessert bar) -- love this place and so has everyone else that I've taken here!
Have been to Allgauer's for Sunday Brunch multiple times. Lots of food choices and all very tasty. We consider the quality of food served at Allgauer's a step above other restaurants serving Sunday Brunch. The cold seafood and seafood salads are excellent. Champagne glasses refilled as often as desired.
