First time there and it was for a business meeting. My office location is across the street in the Regus building so it was very convenient. The food was excellent and our server was great. She made sure to ask if we needed refills as our drinks were low and we didn't have to ask (rare these days). Definitely will be back for lunch.
The ptime rib buffet was excellent. I was surprised to get shrimp cocktail also. I was disappointed that they didn't let me take my piece of steak home. I really did get a big piece.
I have dined at Allaguer's in the past and have never had the treatment that we received on 7/12/19. I was very disappointed by the service that was received. We had 7 p.m. reservations and I arrived at 6:50 p.m. I waited at the table for my family to arrive and at approximately 7:15 p.m. I was told that I had to leave because the rest of the party was not there. As I was preparing to leave I noted that my family was in the line waiting to come up to the hostess station. They had been in line for 10 minutes . I appreciate the hostesses honesty in confirming that my family had been in line.
I then made the manager aware and then they began re-setting the table. Following them resetting the table it took 15 minutes for us to get service. I have no problems following a restaurants reservation policy, however it would be nice to be informed of at the time of booking. If you are going to ask someone to leave, you should ensure that the entire party is there, before coming over to the table and asking someone to leave. Maybe consider having a line where guests with reservations may check in so that they aren't standing in line possible losing their reservations.
I was also disappointed that as we were sitting at the table a lady was picking up the dishes and was slamming dishes around. She made the statement "people need to get moving we will be closing soon."
An apology would have been greatly appreciated from the manager, which was never received.
I consistently bring my guests, friends and family on Thurs for their unbeatable, delicious $8 gourmet burger special: 1/2lb w cheese, all the fixings, special sauce, generous pickle spear, choice of hand cut chips, sweet potato [our fave] or reg fries AND wine or beer! Hostess is sweet, atmosphere is great, staff is always accommodating.
They were very busy but it was pleasant.
The fish fry was not up to its usual standards. The baked cod was good; but the fried fish was greasy and the portions were small.
The fish fry everyone ordered was marginal. The actual fish was good. However, the french fries were half cooked and cold. They reminded me of store brand frozen french fries baked in an oven instead of being deep fried and only partially baked. The potato pancakes were inedible. The server never refilled my water glass. We are not coming back.
We have eaten at Allgauer’s in the Park twice in the last two months. The first time was very good - great service, hot food, and perfect acoustics. All were excellent . The second time wasn’t good- the waitress was new and didn’t do a good job of bringing correct orders to each of us, removing dirty dishes, refilling sodas, and food wasn’t hot nor did it look appealing. However, we will give Allgauer’s another chance.
We went for the Friday Fish Fry and it was great. All-you-can-eat fish is never a bad thing. I loved the walleye and cod. The perch was a little tough in texture. Not my favorite. But the sides and bread and discounted New Glarus beer made for a great meal. Our server, Denise was fantastic. The atmosphere was classy but lacked character, and it was a little loud in there for most of the meal, but overall, great experience. Will go again.
Overall very good. My salad order was wrong. Went for fish fry and you get potato pancakes plus French fries and 2 small pieces of fish. The saving grace is you get all you can eat fish.
The fish fry was great as was the service!
My work team had an enjoyable buffet breakfast at Allgauers'. The items set out on the buffet were fine, and the atmosphere is conducive for a productive business breakfast.
We expected to be seated together at one table as we have been many times before and they split the group into two tables which meant not everyone was part of the same conversations.
Initially they said i had to wait despite having a reservation. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive , after 2 reminders. Salads came out 2 minutes before fish came out. Orders were mixed up and fish was tough and chewy. Walleye was decent. We were asked to leave and free up a table before we were ready.
The all you can eat walleye was great. I always order my second serving when the waitress brings my dinner, saves time on the 2nd order.
3 people for dinner. Brussel spouts with garlic, the garlic sauce was too harsh. Steak was tough with grizzle. Sauce on halibut was extremely plain, no lemon, dill or capers. Risotto was pasty, not smooth and silky as it should be. Drinks were made properly and severed in a timely manner. Salads were good, Caesar dressing was spot on. Garlic mashed potatoes were very good.
My husband and I want there for dinner on a Saturday night. Parking was easy, wasn't too crowded, prices are fair. Seafood was good, nice evening out.
Food was awesome but they increased the price but hadn’t updated it on their website. Price was a big reason I went. Still great food, but would’ve been 5 stars all the way around if the price hadn’t increased or I would’ve known beforehand. Mentioned it to staff and was told, yeah, sorry, they really need to update the website but that’s how much it is. Thanks
OUTSTANDING FISH FRY....Second best I have had in SE Wisconsin
I am a traditional Wisconsinite...On Fridays I want fish and lot of it. Allgauer's fish fry was the perfect fit for me. Let me tell you, this place should have a line out the door. The fish fry is an affordable $13.95 for all you can eat. And they mean all you can eat. This includes fried cod, perch, walleye, or baked. You can switch back and forth. You can also have as many fries and potato pancakes as you'd like. The fish fry also includes an outstanding bread basket and clam chowder or a salad.
Service was decent. I though the waitress was a rad slow, but the manager was constantly helping all servers out. To make up for the slow service, each refill of fish came out piping hot and fresh.
On another note, Allgauer's also serves a gluten free fish fry that utilizes a separate fryer. My wife has celiac, so this was one of the first times she could actually enjoy a fish fry. We have only come across two other places with a full gluten free fish fry. She loved the GF Fish.
We will be back.
Fantastic as always. Not very busy. The desserts were top notch. Went for the all you can eat prime rib.
Grilled salmon was pretty good loved the sauce that comes on it. Mashed potatoes came cold but once I told the waitress they quickly brought me some hot ones out. Food could be seasoned better but overall it was an ok experience
They're trying - but have long way to go. I read others' reviews and either the folks in this area of Wisconsin haven't had much experience in restaurants or we hit a bad night. Whatever the reason it's impossible for me to understand the number of rave reviews. At best this is a mediocre restaurant attached to a hotel.
I ordered one of their speciality entrées thinking it would be the safest bet - wrong. The duck breast was tough as old leather, the aren beans were slimy and the garlic mashed weren't pasty - like glue.
My wife ordered penne with vodka sauce - it came with what looked like canned marinara. When we explained it wasn't vodka sauce the hostess took it back and returned a few minutes later - all they had done was dump some vodka into it. I showed her on my phone recipes for vodka sauce and suggested their chef look it up - it isn't heavy tomato marinara - it is made with cream. CLUELESS.
The ambience is like a cafeteria - all hard surfaces, bright lighting, loud - dominated by a bar in front with table scattered around the periphery.
I understand they have some sort of prime rib and shrimp buffet which may be where the reviews come from - but it has to be quantity over quality.
On the compliment side - both the hostess and wait staff were trying - they really were. But no matter how nice and polite those folks are - the overall experience was not wonderful - especially considering it tries to be a finer dining establishment.
The management and the kitchen staff need to be fired - this is a waste of time and money as it is.
The food was good and a great value for the All You Can Eat Prime Rib at $22.95.
On line menu pricing does need to be updated....many items have wrong prices.
I have eaten hear before and had a good experience. How ever tonight was different. We were seated right away water and soft drinks came quickly, it went down hill from there. We waited for an hour before the waiter came to take our order. I did take into consideration that it was Christmas night but an hour. I had to ask for a waiter 2 times before he even came. When he did finally come to the table he never even asked me what I wanted for dinner. I had to stop him before he walked away. Soup and salad was part of the meal but that never came. I did get up and asked for water to be refilled. I finally asked for a manager and expressed my concerns. I explained to her that it might be a good idea to let people know that you are behind and that service will be slower than normal much slower. I did notice that a group of 4 about in their 60s got their meal just to tell them that everything was cold and they were not going to wait any longer and got up and left leaving the cold meal on the table. Oh I also had to ask for bread. The meal finally came and it was wrong 3 of us asked for twice baked potato none of us got that we settled for a baked potato witch 2 of the 3 were cold and I mean ice cold. Needless to say I will never be going back here ever again.
This was a terrible dining experience in every way. Server was incompetent, there was clearly no manager and the food was terrible. I could go on and on but im not sure it would do any good. I would love to hear from Mangement so I could help them learn to improve.
Had a very cafeteria ambiance. Not what I was expecting
waitness screwed up our order, too over 30 minutes to correct her mistake, all the while, there were 4 of us and one could not eat with us. Prices are HIGH, $4.00 for 3 shrimp on a salad ?? REALLY, for what you get. I had Cesar Salad, all it was was romaine lettuce (whole leaves) thrown on a plate, I ordered it with chicken which was ice cold, and a tiny bit of salad dressing.........no parm cheese, no croutons and maybe 4 leaves or Romaine......was not a lunch salad, more of a side salad. Waitness had STRONG perfume on with a bad attitude to match, now i regret giving her a $15.00 tip
My team and I enjoyed a nice buffet breakfast. The food and service were fine.
An affordable Thursday night out for delicious burgers.
Denise our server had most of dining room...she attempted to meet all our needs.
French onion soup delicious but ?? Too many croutons.
Great prime rib buffet and attentive wait staff, however we were seated near the buffet area and found the kitchen crew to be quite loud and noisy.
Service was awful. Waitress was very inattentive given how few tables were filled. Fish fry was mediocre..walleye was dry, perch a bit better, cod greasy. Sports bar type atmosphere with plenty of tvs.
Food tasty...not unreasonable...
We went there for the all you can eat prime rib night. Online it was listed for $19.95. Eight of us out of 14 did the buffet. The buffet itself was great for the price. When the bill came it was $22.95 when questioned they said oh yes we raised the price today(Nov. 10th). Not once did are waitress inform us the price change when ordering. The correct thing was to say "Oh you want the buffet just so you know the price went up today." I was happy at the end though when they gave us the $19.95 price.
Ambience....service....food...all was perfect!! the taste of the hamburgers, sweet potato fries ...fresh and interesting.
If I had realized this was attached to a hotel, I would have gone somewhere else. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was *not* the special occasion like places I've taken her in years past. I still owe her dinner at a *nice* place...
Food was excellent. Only problem was that I had a buy one get one free entrée coupon and did not receive full credit on my bill for the free entrée. I did not catch it at the restaurant. Had to go back and talk to manager, but oversight was corrected. Otherwise a totally enjoyable evening.
I will be back!! Anyone heading for morning golf at Dretzka on the weekend MUST stop in here first!!
Great price, wonderful service with a smile.
