Alley Restaurant & Bar
Birthday fun ole time charm
I've been coming here for years for the calamari steak. Here on Thanksgiving and we were ignored by the servers for 15 minutes. Same thing happened the time before. Last two times the restaurant smelled like the sewer. This time my calamari was over cooked and dry. The restaurant was not busy so that is not an excuse. This was our last time for the Alley.
As always the food was good and the staff pleasant and welcoming.
Great food, great price and fun atmosphere.Drinks on Wednesday are 50% off and very well priced.
Took awhile for someone to come over and wait on us but the food was amazing! Corkage fee seemed high $25? Overall a great local place to get a great meal!
We happened upon this place a few weeks ago and will return again tonight, our third visit. This is the quintessential locals' restaurant with perfect food and great drinks. Service is spot on!
Service was great, also no wait time. Ordered Prime rib med. rare, was done good, but the cut was as thin as a piece of ham, and very fatty, wish I would have sent it back. I did sent back my baked potato, was dark yellow inside and hard, not white like a fresh potato.
This is the definition of a "local's bar and restaurant". If you show up more than one or two times, odds are pretty good you will be remembered by more than half the staff!
Everyone is nice, the place has a great atmosphere, and the food is fantastic! Our personal favorite is the Chicken Picata, but there are a ton of fantastic favorites for nearly everyone.
Fish fish, veal, and hamburger were well prepared. Hamburger was related as one of best ever.
A little noisy.
Food and service was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back!
Everything was wonderful. The food and the bottomless mimosas the best
Sat outside with our puppy. Servers were outstanding, very attentive and friendly. Food is just ok for price. Good value if you order off of Pub menu on the patio. Only issue with Patio is noise level from PCH
The Alley is a favorite spot for my family and friends. The food is always delicious, and the servers are wonderful. At my most recent visit it was very warm in the restaurant; the weather outside that day was very warm and humid. Despite this, I enjoy dining at The Alley!
THE FOOD, VALUE, AND SERVICE ARE THE BEST AT THE ALLEY, WE DINE THERE AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH!
Greeter very friendly waiters and waitress very attentive
Food good and value great considering location
Great service which was fast and efficient. Food came out incredibly hot. Salad and bread was great. Meals lacked a little flavor but were generously portioned for the price. They don’t have an official kids menu but were very kind and accommodating.
We had a fantastic meal of Ribs to celebrate my birthday. Vanda and her assistant could not have done a better job and The Alley has the dest drink pours of any restaurant.
It's the last time we eat at The Alley. Too noisy and the food wasn't that good. Service was good. My husband was sitting next to me and I had to shout to be heard.
Our family loves dining at the Alley! The food is always excellent and the service is the best!
Had the sand dabs and they were outstanding. Bar area was really loud. Two gentlemen drunk and very boistrous.
Overpriced for mediocre food. Drink was good though.
We dine at the Alley at least twice a month and we enjoy the food and great service! The ribs on Monday night are very good!
When we checked in, the waitress said Open Table reservations do not come through. I emailed Open Table and they took cared of it for me. Reviews praised the service. We did not experience that at all. The service we received was not professional or friendly. The two waitresses knew many patrons by name and was great with them, the regulars. Eileen, our waitress had her mouth full of food and chewing on it when she took our order, that was very unprofessional and disgusting. Never experienced that before. The decor is old. However, our food was delicious, thank goodness, so compliments to the chef!! He saved the day.
My wife and I eat at the Alley at least twice a month. The food and service are great! The specials are of great value and always taste great! It's a great neighborhood restaurant.
I love the menu, food and vibe! The service has always been friendly as well. We had a lovely dinner with friends....I’d highly recommend The Alley! Lunch is a very good value but the atmosphere might be a bit dark for some.
California pub feel with good bar and menu. Not pricey, good service and good food.
Very friendly staff! The bottomless mimosas kept coming with out me asking and that goes a long way! My kid enjoyed his French Toast, my GF had the huevos rancheros which was a huge plate and I had the brunch burger which hit all of the spots lol! We'll definitely be back!
We hadn't ever dined at the Alley and had a dinner with excellent service.
We will definitely return.
Not where you want to go for fresh seafood. Looks like a great bar though!
My wife and I had another great dinner at the Alley. Great food and service as usual! Thank you Vanda for always taking good care of us.
Food and service was great but it was crowded and really noisy on Friday night... which I guess is not surprising. We had a group of six old friends though and the table we were seated at was a long booth. Since there was another table next to us, we couldn’t seat anyone on the opposite long side of our table. We were left to sit in a long line which forced us to break up into two groups to talk. Too bad there didn’t seem to be any six top round tables. Otherwise, I love the place and try to visit whenever we’re in town.
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME SINCE I HAVE BEEN COMING TO THE ALLEY FOR OVER 10 YEARS THAT I RECEIVED BAD SERVICE AND THE RIBS WERE NOT VERY GOOD. USUALLY GREAT SERVICE AND FOOD.
We really love this restaurant - consistently good and great daily specials. The wedge salad a must (ask for it chopped) nobody makes sweet potato fries like they do.
This is one of our favorite spots. The food is consistently good, service great and a wonderful value. Warm and inviting.
We've been to the Alley now 3 times and very time it's been great! The staffs are very polite and friendly especially the mature gentlemen who does the busing, as he was very attentive, courteous and very hard working. He really made our dinning experience exceptional and at the same time appreciative during our last 2 visits. We were there this past Friday 8th of Feb and if owner/management would be so kind to pass on our positive feedback to him that would be wonderful. Many thanks.
The Alley is my favorite restaurant in Newport Beach. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are great! Cozy local restaurant in NB!
Classic Newport Beach restaurant, love the Eggs Benedict’s
We have been to the Alley twice now to celebrate New Year's Eve. We love the service and the convenience as it is walking distance from our home. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the food is very good. As I said we love the service at this restaurant, especially since hospitable and competent wait staff is a rarity in Newport Beach. I highly recommend The Alley! You'll have a great meal in a terrific environment.
The Alley is definitely one of my most favorite places in Newport. The food is delicious! Try the sand dabs! Yummy!! Bartender Mike is a gem, and Vanda is without a doubt The BEST server you could ever ask for. Do yourself a favor and go there!!!
