Allegro Italian Kitchen - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Sunday evening 6:30 reserve for 4 for 10th wedding anniversary ( not really needed. Food was tasty and very generous portions, limited wine list, service was friendly but sporadic..1 server , 6 tables..
We would go back again.. maybe just for casual supper.
The server was attentive enough with some humor and genuity, while still allowing us to enjoy our date night. The food was unbelievable especially the prosciutto appetizer, the zitti con pollo, and the chocolate cake! Their house red wine is sweet but subtle.
We would definitely go back next time we had the opportunity and do highly recommend this place to others. Our server was friendly and very attentive. Our group of 5 all thoroughly enjoyed each of our flavorful, delicious and well portioned dinners. Very apparent they used fresh vegetables and the fresh buns were a real treat.
If you like a creamy mushroom sauce this place has one of the best we've ever tasted.
A local friend from Edmonton says he frequents this place at lunch and it is consistently great food and service.
The restaurant was quiet on a Saturday evening, which made conversation easy. There is no loud music, kitchen noise, or other distractions. The wine list is short, but there are some reasonable options at reasonable prices. A caprese salad from multi-coloured fresh cherry tomatoes got our appetites up for more; it was beautifully presented and oh so tasty. My dinner special was a great combo of shrimp and chicken and pasta, definitely a plus if you can't make up your mind! Service was flawless. I would go back and I do recommend it for a quiet evening.
The Service was outstanding as well as the quality of the food. Our only complaint had nothing to do with the restaurant. Someone was drilling in the floor above in the office tower after hours. The waitress was very apologetic although it wasn't her fault.
Food was good. Very disappointed in the dessert. We went for the Downtown Dining Week and I had the $45 three course meal. Appetizer and meal were good, but nothing special. For dessert, it was suppose to be a limoncello cream cheese custard. Instead, I saw them pull out a President's Choice box with mini cheesecakes. They added whipped cream and chocolate sauce. To say the least, it was not that great. Very disappointed that they don't make their own dessert and completely mark up the price of something I could get at Superstore for $5. FYI, the boxes are in plain site and there were quite a few of them.
My friend and I went there as a get together before a concert. It happened to be downtown dining week so we lucked out with a three course meal for $28.00. That was a great value because the restaurant is on the pricey side. Great food and service. We had to leave early so we missed the piano player. I would definitely recommend this place.
This restaurant was advertised as a Romantic venue with live piano music.
The ambiance was not very romantic. Our table was directly in front of the kitchen.
There was a piano but no entertainment.
I was anticipating a special romantic evening out for New Years. I was disappointed.
Overall the food was fresh and well prepared!
We booked a reservation there for 6:30pm. Unfortunately we got there around 6:25pm, we still had to wait for about 15 mins for the table to be cleaned. Then it took them a while to come and serve us. The server was super friendly but the food was very slow. We didn't get our appetizer/supper until 7:45pm. We didn't expect the food to be served like at a fast food restaurant however it took them 45mins to serve us was a bit too long.
Being from out of town we were looking for some good Italian fare and found Allegro close by our hotel. Very pleasant atmosphere, quiet music and delicious food made for an enjoyable evening. The fettuccine with salmon in a vodka rosa sauce was exceptional and a very large portion indeed. We shared Insalata and had a substantial plate of fresh greens each. My husband had the cannelloni which left him room for the cheesecake dessert - soft and creamy. Great service from our waitress who also gave us a recommendation to go see the xmas lights at the parliament building just up the street. A terrific end to an otherwise stressful day.
