Amazingly delicious food, excellent wait staff and gorgeous view of the bay.
My favorite restaurant. Love all the attention from the staff. The ambience is happy, friendly, casual, while sophisticated luxury at the same time.
This was my third or fourth time eating at Alioto's, over the past six years, and the food and service are consistently excellent.
Annual visit to San Francisco and looking for a nice seafood dinner. Thought it would be nice to try the Fisherman’s Wharf area. Excellent swordfish and fish trio dishes. The Sicilian calamari was prepared as we remembered from a trip to Sicily. Window seating to see the water was great. Would go there again.
Alioto’s never disappoints. Go for the sunset. Order chowder, shrimp cocktail, and half-and-half calamari. It doesn’t have to be expensive. And it’s sooo nice!
The service was amazing and the food was top notch. Great experience and friendly staff.
The food was wonderful & fresh. The waiter was friendly & made wonderful suggestions, particularly for a member of our party seeking low-carb alternatives.
The food and the view are amazing, and the staff makes the experience personal and exceptional.
We were there for the crab, but it turned out that the clam chowder was the best part of the meal! It was delicious and had big chunks of clam. The crab just wasn’t as sweet as it usually is, but that’s not Alioto’s fault. We had a window table with a great view of the harbor, service was excellent and Sinatra was playing softly in the background. What more could you ask?
Thoroughy enjoyed lunch...great, reasonably priced lunch menu with several selections. It was a great respite from the Wharf holiday crowd. Enjoyed the great picture window overlooking the water. Servers were helpful and attentive. The bread with seasoned olive oil was wonderful. Our favorite part of the day!
great for new year’s eve
I always eat at Alioto's for my New Year's Eve dinner .. It's Friendly and Welcoming .. Food is Delicious ... Service is attentive ... View of the Bay and GG Bridge and Russian Hill and Fisherman's Warf at sunset is FANTASTIC ...
Great views of the wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge! Perfect stop to try authentic cioppino for tourists
Great food. Amazing clam chowder and crab. Bolognese for my meat eating kid and vegetarian manicotti for my vegetarian kid. Beautiful views. Great San Francisco sourdough. Great visit to San Francisco.
Wonderful staff and food. My husband and I had been before but we wanted to take our now adult children for the experience. It did not disappoint
I was in the mood for Linguine and Clams.. received a bowl of pasta, with a very bland sauce at the bottom, and a pile of empty clam shells on the top.. There were 10 very tiny clams at the bottom of my dish. I asked for more, and eventually a few more arrived. The dish was poorly done.. no parsley, garlic or tomatoes.. just a bowl of pasta with a few clams..$27..The bread, served to the table was delicious.
Food was really good & they seated us by the window. Staff was attentive & courteous. Would love to go back again. Really liked the free validated parking right on the wharf.
My family went here recently for my mother's 81st birthday, and we were *very* happy with our evening at Alioto's! We made reservations for 6, and upon arrival were immediately sat at one of the best tables with a night-time view of the street outside. The food was excellent (three of us had the house sole), the wine was both good and reasonable, and our waiter was great with his advice (we could tell he had been there for some time). My mother *says* she doesn't like being sung to by the staff in public, but I think being called "Miss America" was perfect. ;) If you're looking for a nice meal at a San Francisco institution, give Alioto's a try!
The best part of this restaurant is the bread that is served it has a hard crust with a soft center sourdough that is to die for.
Food excellent/waiter not
attentive/ atmosphere good.
Although everything I have seen served there looks delicious, I come to Alioto’s for Nonna Rose’s Crab Cioppino. Since my first visit many years ago, when I tried it simply because I had never had cioppino, it has never disappointed. I’ve tried it in other restaurants since then, and nothing has come close. The sourdough bread is the perfect match for the cioppino. The service is cheerful and professional. It is usually crowded, especially during holidays, so reservations are recommended, but even a full house doesn’t slow the service or mar the friendly and helpful demeanor of the staff.
Amazing view and great food and service!
Great service, food and atmosphere. A great way to end the holiday with my mom who was visiting!
Fortunately we had a reservation so we had no wait (thank you Opentable!)
My 8th Christmas Eve dinner is n a row... as usual, great food, service and ambiance! Thanks for another memorable meal!!!
It has a good view and we could see the Golden Gate Bridge from our table. The staff is friendly.
Sorry, not a great experience. May not come back. Empty restaurant and they gave us a less than desirable seat. Waiter was a sweet heart but at 80?? maybe should not have been waiting? Food marginal. Super disappointed - this has been a go-to Christmas Eve spot for years. Must have changed ownership!?
The crab was excellent; perfectly cooked with the right balance of herbs, garlic, and butter. Yummy 😋
We visit Alioto’s every time we’re in the city. Delicious food, the best service - everyone is warm and very friendly. A must stop if you’re near fisherman’s wharf.
Wonderful ambiance, fine food, served hot and timely. Amazing appetizers.
The service was superb, as always. We frequently recommend Alioto's whenever friends are visiting from out of town.
Food was delicious and the place is beautiful.
Service was good. Food just OK. Clams were very salty and wine was not reduced. Very little flavor but vinegar and salt. Clam chowder was sub par and my least favorite of the 6 I tried while in the City.
We booked late and were given a table overlooking the harbour. Service was attentive and food great - and well priced.
Horrible food. Clam chooser had a funky taste and smell. Never again.
this restaurant is one of san Francisco's treasured landmarks. the view is absolutely stunning at sunset. there was a little rain at dinnertime however it didn't dampen our spirits. dinner was served and the exquisite food was hot. tasted great and more than enough to take the leftovers home for dinner the next day. the calamari was an excellent appetizer. we would definitely have dinner there again.
Birthday celebration just wished waiters could’ve sung to my daughter as they did at another table
Great service and beautiful water view. Four of us ate and none of us liked our meal. The fish and steak were over-cooked, the seafood dish had a strange tasting red sauce, and the chicken was amateur. It was very expensive for the quality and quantity. Disappointing
San Francisco gem that everyone should get a chance to experience.
