Maybe it’s a cliched tourist place to eat. Maybe it’s THE cliched tourist place to eat. Whatever. The food is solid. Tasty bread service—so you don’t have to make a trip to Boudin. Great views even if you’re not right up at the window (think theater rise seating) Sure, it costs more than it should, but you’re not getting bad food.

The risotto Alioto is the best I’ve ever had. Crab cocktail was wonderful. Our waiter, Olivier, was absolutely outstanding and made the entire experience noteworthy and memorable.

Our 2nd time eating here and was just as great as the first time. The staff are very professional and friendly. Great customer service to attention and detail and accommodating. Very delicious selections to choose from. Somewhat on the high side of costs but you get what you pay for....really, really good food, atmosphere and service. We will definitely return.

Been eating at Alioto's for years and it is ALWAYS great! Our waiter was diligent with keeping our water glasses full, giving helpful hints on the various dishes and being an attentive waiter! We even had the pleasure of meeting the charming Manager! Highly recommend Alioto's!

We celebrated New Years Eve at Aliotos! It was a nice experience, the food was delicious. I had the sole and truffles and my husband had the seafood stew, both were good. I am so glad we had reservations, the line waiting for a table was very long. I also enjoyed view we had from our table.

Took a date here for New Years and it was great.

The service was great, everyone was courteous and professional. The ambiance was 10/10, we got a table near the window so we could look out at the pier.

The food was pretty alright. Which is my hangup. I believe it was a little overpriced for what we got. Everything was fresh as far as I know but was nothing super spectacular. It was good food for sure, but I'm not sure it's worth the price I paid.

That's what makes this review a 4/5 instead of a 5/5.

Try the mixed calamari... you will never find better. Add a bowl of chowder, and share, and you can enjoy Alioto’s without spending a fortune. We had lobster ravioli tonight and Caesar salad. Both wonderful. Go at 5pm in the winter and watch the sunset from a window table. Certainly one of the nicest dinners in San Francisco.

The bread was great- the best thing about the meal . Service was extremely slow, both in ordering and receiving our food. The waiter was perfectly nice, I’m not sure that the kitchen could handle the volume of orders. But mostly the food was fair at best - overpriced, a bit tired, essentially mediocre chain hotel food. Will not return.

Meh. Took our family of adult children and was expecting better food and for the price...better service. Not worth the $500 bill. Won’t go again. Also since I reserved online with Open Table I assumed a reservation meant they were expecting us. They seemed surprised. We waited for 30 min for a water view table. The hostess was very very nice and accommodating.

Usually the good is very good here, but today the risotto was crunchy and the seafood bouillabaisse was watery. The food was plated messily (smears all over the thermidor).

Perhaps they were just having an off day the day after Christmas. The reason we keep retuning is because the food has always been excellent, and we'll be coming back again someday, but for now we'll try Scoma's.

I know locals don't like going to the Wharf, but we should go more often- especially to the old school places that still do it well like Alioto's. Alioto's was really nice with impeccable service and the Cioppino my companions had been craving. I had a great seafood risotto and we had nice appetizers and great wine too.

Going to aliotos since 1953 always a treat a place to go have special memories. Its always bustling with people since becoming a world known place. This last time was most memorable the food was outstanding with the high crowd that night slight lapse in service was forgiven.

The service was terrible. Waitress spilled an alcoholic drink on my friend and didn’t really apologize. She also gave wet napkins that smelled of alcohol to wipe up the spill off my friends’s clothes. The bread and drinks we ordered took a long time and the entrees were cold and had to be taken back to be warmed up. My friend and I split a Caesar salad and it was brought to the table in one plate for us to split. Needless to say, we expected at least one meal taken off the bill, but we only got $18.21 off the bill! We will not be back! It spoiled our whole evening.

We were first there 39 years ago on our honeymoon. This was our anniversary. Chef made a special dish for us that was on the menu 39 years ago but not on now - swordfish sautéed in white wine with mushrooms on top. Absolutely delicious. Thanks for the memory!

Alioto's is truly a San Francisco icon and the fact that it has been around almost 100 years is a testament to this legendary restaurant. One of the best seafood restaurants in all of SF to this day, and the location of this restaurant right on Fisherman's Wharf with epic views only serves to enhance the overall dining experience. The fact that it was crab season was an added benefit of dining here as we got to sample some of the freshest dungeness crab in all the US. And it was spectacular of course. The lobster ravioli and Alioto's risotto are also must trys. The service was a little slow as it was extremely crowded the night we were there, but that became an afterthought once we received our first round of drinks. All in all a fun and memorable night and it was the perfect place to celebrate. Thank you Alioto's, we will be back!
