Excellent service and the food was phenomenal! For a restaurant in a tourist area, it was well worth the price.
Restaurant is a bit tired, had a very loud party opposite us.
Don't understand why American restaurants don't give time between appetisers and entrée.
I had fried calamai. It was nicely done. My wife had halibut that was expensive but looked dry, was dry and perhaps had been in the freezer for a long time. The restaurant apologized and brought another piece of fish but it was the same texture, somewhat tasteless and shouldn't have been at that price..
Classic San Francisco. Excellent service from employees that have been there for years. Great views of the Bay and harbor. Often seals are resting on the docs. I take clients to Alioto’s all time.
enjoyed my food, waiter, and the ambiance of the restaurant.
Great food and outstanding service.
Count this as one of the finest dining experiences we have had. There were a few factors in our favour... it was off season so we had a great table with sea side views, a smaller crowd so our waiter was able to spend more time with us and ultimately the food stood out, as it would any time, as outstanding.
Crab cakes... best we’ve had anywhere. So much crab and well seasoned. Not cluttered with fillers like other restaurants. Glad their recipe has remained the same for decades.
Calamari... Fried and Sicilian Style... nothing over the top. Just done well.
Seafood Risotto... outstanding flavor. Fresh scallops and shrimp. Slightly over seasoned but flavorful nonetheless.
Bouillabaisse... Nice healthy bits of fish, clams, calamari, and mussels. Broth tasted clean and simple with the essence of seafood.
Wait staff was very attentive and cheery. Would recommend.
The halibut was excellent. However, the portion of the veggies was a disappointment. The service was fine considering it was Valentine's day.
Nice restaurant with bay view , excellent service , waiters very professional. Food halibut was average, lobster ravioli was good. Wine very good and reasonable.

Birthday and Valentines
Very lovely place. Great service, good food, and view. Looking forward to going back ♥️
Alioto's is the classic white table cloth fish restaurant on the Wharf. It always was and still is.
What JOY Alioto’s is! Fantastic Italian food, with a glorious view. Outstanding server named John brings such fun and welcome with terrific professionalism and wit. Alioto’s is the greatness of old-school San Francisco restaurant class and warmth of hospitality. Enjoy!!
Food was not fresh poor presentation
We were only in SF for one day and though we weren’t very hungry, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have the best clam chowder and crab cocktails! Delicious, the right amount of attention from our server and a lovely sunset made for a perfect experience
My wife and I had made reservations for 6:45, but after skipping lunch and walking around the Fisherman's Wharf, we found ourselves hungry and outside Alioto's at 3:15. We asked if we could move our reservation up, which they were happy to do for us. We had a wonderful meal, great service, and window-side seats (which might not have been available at our original time), and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our dinner. The only glitch was that the wine my wife ordered was listed as $8 on the menu, but wound up charged at $11 on the bill. We decided to let it go, and we would definitely eat at Alioto's again. Be sure to see the menu from 1945 that's posted in the stairwell near the bathrooms: $1.50 for a steak dinner! But they're doing something right if they're still going strong 75 years later!
It was a beautiful day! We made a lunch reservation midweek. Tables were available...we were escorted immediately to our table next to a window. No matter where you are seated you will have a beautiful view. Our waiter was so attentive and cordial. All entrees were enjoyed. It is one of my favorite places ... especially for crab & seafood!
I would definitely recommend my friends to Alioto’s restaurant. We have gone there many times. The service and food is excellent, with an interesting and beautiful view. Yesterday we went to Alioto’s for our 45th wedding anniversary And enjoyed it tremendously.
Great chowder, caesar salad and the Risotto Alioto's was amazing!
Amazingly delicious food, excellent wait staff and gorgeous view of the bay.
My favorite restaurant. Love all the attention from the staff. The ambience is happy, friendly, casual, while sophisticated luxury at the same time.
This was my third or fourth time eating at Alioto's, over the past six years, and the food and service are consistently excellent.
Annual visit to San Francisco and looking for a nice seafood dinner. Thought it would be nice to try the Fisherman’s Wharf area. Excellent swordfish and fish trio dishes. The Sicilian calamari was prepared as we remembered from a trip to Sicily. Window seating to see the water was great. Would go there again.
Alioto’s never disappoints. Go for the sunset. Order chowder, shrimp cocktail, and half-and-half calamari. It doesn’t have to be expensive. And it’s sooo nice!
The service was amazing and the food was top notch. Great experience and friendly staff.
The food was wonderful & fresh. The waiter was friendly & made wonderful suggestions, particularly for a member of our party seeking low-carb alternatives.
The food and the view are amazing, and the staff makes the experience personal and exceptional.
We were there for the crab, but it turned out that the clam chowder was the best part of the meal! It was delicious and had big chunks of clam. The crab just wasn’t as sweet as it usually is, but that’s not Alioto’s fault. We had a window table with a great view of the harbor, service was excellent and Sinatra was playing softly in the background. What more could you ask?
Thoroughy enjoyed lunch...great, reasonably priced lunch menu with several selections. It was a great respite from the Wharf holiday crowd. Enjoyed the great picture window overlooking the water. Servers were helpful and attentive. The bread with seasoned olive oil was wonderful. Our favorite part of the day!
great for new year’s eve
I always eat at Alioto's for my New Year's Eve dinner .. It's Friendly and Welcoming .. Food is Delicious ... Service is attentive ... View of the Bay and GG Bridge and Russian Hill and Fisherman's Warf at sunset is FANTASTIC ...
Great views of the wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge! Perfect stop to try authentic cioppino for tourists
Great food. Amazing clam chowder and crab. Bolognese for my meat eating kid and vegetarian manicotti for my vegetarian kid. Beautiful views. Great San Francisco sourdough. Great visit to San Francisco.
Wonderful staff and food. My husband and I had been before but we wanted to take our now adult children for the experience. It did not disappoint
I was in the mood for Linguine and Clams.. received a bowl of pasta, with a very bland sauce at the bottom, and a pile of empty clam shells on the top.. There were 10 very tiny clams at the bottom of my dish. I asked for more, and eventually a few more arrived. The dish was poorly done.. no parsley, garlic or tomatoes.. just a bowl of pasta with a few clams..$27..The bread, served to the table was delicious.
Food was really good & they seated us by the window. Staff was attentive & courteous. Would love to go back again. Really liked the free validated parking right on the wharf.
My family went here recently for my mother's 81st birthday, and we were *very* happy with our evening at Alioto's! We made reservations for 6, and upon arrival were immediately sat at one of the best tables with a night-time view of the street outside. The food was excellent (three of us had the house sole), the wine was both good and reasonable, and our waiter was great with his advice (we could tell he had been there for some time). My mother *says* she doesn't like being sung to by the staff in public, but I think being called "Miss America" was perfect. ;) If you're looking for a nice meal at a San Francisco institution, give Alioto's a try!
