Our waitress was the sweetest lady! Plus the food was delicious
Great! The food was great and our team had a fun time
Great food and energy in the restaurant. Friendly wait staff. Noise level was on the very high end so made it difficult to talk. Food was delicious!
SUCH A PERFECT DINING EXPERIENCE! We had such a great time and everybody that worked there was friendly and funny especially our waiter Stephan. Our food was AMAZING- the wings were mouthwatering, the mac and cheese heavenly, the rib eye cooked to perfection! The panna cotta had a dark cherry coulis that was dynamite. It's a must have. We will be back for sure next month. Do yourself a big favor and try this place now while you can still get a table.
The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. They made suggestions based on what I described I would like to have for dinner. The food was top notch and the cocktails were perfect. If I lived in San Francisco, I would go here often. Thanks for a great dinner!
The ambiance is casual, yet refined. The minimalist cool is a far cry from blunt pretentiousness. Instead, there's a gradual ease into intimacy that's perfect for a date night (Valentine's Day, in our case); although, there are large booths available for groups of six. We sat in a backroom upstairs passed the loft. The servers were friendly and present without being imposing. The menu offered solid American staples, fun cocktails and a decent wine selection. The meal was a generous portion, and well-prepared with fresh ingredients. I definitely recommend Aliment.
We had a good experience at Aliment and were happy to find another dining option in the area. We went there for dinner on Valentine's Day.The brussel sprouts and caprese salad were tasty. My husband enjoyed the lamb shank - it fell off the bone. I had the salmon which was well prepared although I wasn't a fan of pairing it with tzatziki sauce. Our server was fun, helpful and attentive most of the evening until he got very busy; then he was hard to catch. All in all, we enjoyed our evening and would go back.
First we had hors d’oeuvres and drinks at the bar. The bartender was wonderful! Friendly, knowledgeable, good sense of humor. Then we went to a booth and had dinner. The weather was great. I love everything about the place except that it is too loud for me but I’ll go back because the food is good and it’s a nice atmosphere. Friendly.
They messed up my order three times. I only sent it back twice because I was so embarrassed. I got a lettuce wrapped burger with a side salad. They didn’t put chipotle aioli sauce or the bacon jam because I didn’t get a bun. They brought out a $20 patty of meat with cheese on a bed of lettuce. They didn’t have lettuce wraps. I ordered medium and it was medium rare borderline rare. Multiple parts of the burger were squishy pink that I couldn’t even eat. Side salad was an extremely basic bed of arugula but still had an up charge. This was my first time eating there and it was disappointing.
Very noisy... soup was good beet salad with chicken...chicken undercooked. I dined alone and other than my male server who was attentive....the female servers could have cared less
This was a surprise first visit and everything was fresh and delicious!
Service was incredibly slow. We ordered our drinks 15 min after sitting and our wine didn't come for another 30 min. A dish ran out and they didn't notify us till 40 minutes later and wouldn't comp or accommodate another dish for the same price. In 2 hours we all only got one cocktail and a little wine because the service was so slow. Food was average, not worth the wait or service.
We had a nice evening here: the food was very good, the service was energetic and friendly, the prices by San Francisco standards were quite reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. Of the six items ordered at our table, I would say five were excellent and one (the mac and cheese) was still good. The dinner salad was huge and delicious, almost big enough for two. The spicy wings, roast chicken, mussels, and salmon were all very well prepared and tasty. The only drawback to our evening was we were seated upstairs and there was a very loud table nearby in a small seating area. But we would definitely return here for another dinner.
Great Experience. We shared several appetizers and a couple of entres and loved all of them.
Great service as well.
Service was great. It was a fun environment. The Brussels sprouts was delicious!
Great new place with wonderful cocktail selections and flavorful food.
Excellent food, excellent cocktails, excellent service. I will definitely be back.
Everything was great except we were seating upstairs next to a big party that were so loud all through the meal.
During the very hectic JP Morgan Healthcare conference in San Francisco, we had a very relaxing and excellent meal at Aliment. The service was outstanding as was the food. Would definitely recommend it as a nice, quiet and high quality restaurant with a distinctive menu.
Surprise find, great food and friendly wait staff. Loved it and will definately go back.
Great food, we were seated upstairs and it was a great space. Only complaint would be we had to ask for our server more then once for drinks and water refill.
We had a 9pm reservation on NYE but we weren’t seated until 9:30pm, which was fine give the occasion. However, half way through our mediocre meal (the food was cold, we had to beg for silverware, we were given 1 glass of water with no refill) the bar and kitchen closed, with no warning, and we were unable to keep ordering food or drinks. Completely understand that the staff wanted to get out of there to celebrate! BUT, a heads up would have been nice so that we could have ordered any last minute things before they closed. Additionally, our waitress started out super friendly, but all of a sudden was in a rush to leave and we weren’t given utensils and when we asked she rolled her eyes like we were putting her out. Don’t get me started on the water :( no refills and no bar drinks. Needless to say, we will never be coming back.
Really poor service
My wife and I were in town for just one night. We saw this place from across the street from our hotel in the afternoon before it opened. It just looked like it would be a good place to eat from the outside. The restaurant was nearly booked up when we looked on OpenTable. Fortunately, we were lucky to get one of the last reservations later in the evening. We sat upstairs (loft), which was very cool. The entire place was hopping when we got inside. This was a fun place to be dining. My wife had the Mac & Cheese and I had the burger. Both were good portions and tasted good. I thought the Mac & Cheese was a little salty, but this could be a personal preference. Our waitress (Rachael ?sp) was great and fun. We would recommend eating here. My wife and I will be stopping in again when we return to San Fran. Enjoy !!
Great pre-theatre dinner destination, only a couple of blocks away from ACT, Curran, SF Playhouse and Custom Made. Terrific happy hour prizes to match the delicious food. And, I cannot forget the fantastically friendly staff!
We were seated upstairs for a 6:00 dinner with reservations & it was hot & stuffy up there.
They had fans on the floor but that didn’t help.
We each had an entree, a cocktail, & a glass of wine & it was over $100
Nice Saturday night meal with friends. Good food, friendly service.
it started off well, the waitress was attentive and gave us info about the menu which was very limited. we both decided on the salmon. my husband asked for the sauce on the side and we both asked for it to be well done. The food came very quickly -- almost too quickly -- not enough time to sit and enjoy our cocktails, but the sauce was not on the side (he was going to live with that) but when we cut into the salmon, it was medium at best so had to send it all back. The food was okay but nothing special. After our meals were delivered the second time, our waitress lost interest in us. Nothing special - there are so many other restaurants to chose from, I wouldn't suggest it.
Had a table of 7 and they sat us once we had 4 which was very nice. Very tasty cocktail menu and the food was 5 Stars across the board. I think we got 1 of everything and everything was delicious!
Very loud room
Food arrived forty minutes after we ordered and we had a show to attend ... so we had to scarf our food down fast .
Noise level is awful and we could barely hear each other speak .
Light and airy decor. Great place to enjoy with friends.
LOL. Yes I agree. It looks nice. And some of the food wasn’t too bad (the mussels) My one star rating comes from the level of cookery overall.yes the mussels were ok but nothing in the sauce brought them together to the other ingredients. It was just a blant broth. Or...It’s really easy to get caprese right. I promise both of my kids make a way better one then we had at this “restaurant”. No acidity. No excitement. It just felt amateur. Also the soup made the impression an amateur seasoned it. Not that the flavors weren’t right. They were off. So was the seasoning. Not way too hot but just simply complete off. Only amateurs season that much and still don’t get it right. On top of it all the waiter praised the amazing food which I’m sure he never tried cos i assume he is also an amateur who never ate there.
Please pick another one.
Spectacular service and amazing food. I’ll def be back!!
Fried chicken was amazing. Might be some of the best I’ve had in San Francisco
I happen to stumble across this as I was staying 3 mins up the hill at InterContinental but looking to dine American cuisine (minus the typical junk), gladly found it here. Every dish was delicious, shame I couldn't eat the desserts because they had gelatine but overall great experience
Need to work on the food. The fried chicken had no flavor (worse than shake and bake). The chicken wings were OK, but some fast casuals do it better. The salmon is good. The food was just meahhh, especially for the price. We did enjoy the large room upstairs. The service was fast. The drinks were good. Thank you.
Ailment is a classy joint with very reasonable prices for SF. The food was definitely the highlight...please do yourself a favor and get the red curry butternut squash soup and brussels sprouts to start, and then choose from the NY Strip or the Burger. Great find.
I booked in advance for 7 people for a 9pm table and at 10:15 we were told the kitchen wouldn t be able to serve desserts. I was kind of surprised and disappointed for a Friday evening... if I was told before I would have reserved somewhere else. I also didn’t liked the side (overcooked and too salty) with my NY strip steack (the meat was excellent & wine as well).
Mac and cheese has bacon in it, although the menu doesn’t say so. Loud and fun atmosphere, great service and a fun night!
