"Great food, comfortable drink" is the mission, but at Alice’s, it's about much more than that. With a broad deck that overlooks the main stretch of Lake Hopatcong, fresh produce from nearby Halsey Island, and a naturally simple (but rustic) decor, Alice's is a place that celebrates lake living and good company.

Lake Hopatcong resident Alice Szigethy opened Alice's in June 2009 to expand the selection of lake destinations. In this reinvention of a building that had been a series of eateries over several decades, the space features vaulted ceilings, reclaimed-barn-wood walls, comfy booths, and a full bar that extends from the airy interior to the breezy deck. A mahogany seating bar runs the length of the deck so guests can sit and enjoy a clear panorama of the water, and an austere metal awning gives outdoor diners a shady place to enjoy the view, the breeze-and, of course, the food.

Its a great restaurant. I like the exterior and the location of the place right off the lake. The waitress was great. She was very attentive and friendly to my friend and I. One thing to add is you can't spend too long at the restaurant if they other reservations. I definitely would recommend coming here.

We dined outside on a summer Friday around 6 pm, food and service was great.. We will definitely be back on a cooler night to enjoy sitting outside...

We went there for a table with a view with a 5:00 reservation booked weeks in advance. They made us wait for 15-20 minutes then gave us the worst table in the corner with a view of the parking lot. I asked to be moved and nobody really cared and said they had other reservations so we left…. Lots of kids working this place doing more taking and fooling around than worrying about customers service. Very disappointing and back to the Windlass which is across the street and much much better!

We had a very enjoyable experience at Alice’s. We had a cocktail in the big fish lounge before dinner and that was very yummy. Our food was good. The service was good. The only thing I would suggest is instead of using butter packets you should do a whipped butter… maybe flavored with the bread basket since you have to pay for it.

Very nice location overlooking the lake. Server was pleasant but slow, had to wait for drinks and our food came out separately. We split one app between 4 of us, each had a drink and ordered a burger, a sandwich, fish tacos and a sole entree. I was not expecting that meal to run me $275 with tip!!!! The food was pedestrian at best and my wife's $15 Mojitos were mostly ice in a small glass. Bottom line...WAY OVERPRICED for a meal you could get almost anywhere else!!!!!!
