Alex's Washington Gardens Ratings and Reviews
Washington Gardens is a Highwood, IL landmark restaurant. I have eaten here since my late teens and always enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Offering a warm environment, not pretentious (which is hard to find these days), reliably good to excellent food and warm service. Plus, adding to this, it is often filled with people that seem equally happy to break bread with each other and eat here. Pizza delicious, chicken parmesan yummy, lasagna, classic Italian fare. Give it a try with a warm heart and good cheer. Guarantee you will enjoy yourself.
Victor the manager from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant greeted us brought us a glass of very good wine. He made speedy preparations to ready our table. Service was incredible food amazing. We are coming back they made our 28 year anniversary memorable.

This place has been in Highwood for years and we discovered at our dinner that it was under new ownership. We haven't a clue what the food was like prior to the change, but we enjoyed our meals.
Our server, Beth, apparently has been there for years and was outstanding!
You go girl!
My only comment was that the veggies with my whitefish were overdone... but I like my steamed veggies crisp and this is often not in keeping with "comfort food".
We will go back and were instructed to have the Pizza or the Alfredo sauce!
Worth going to and good value for your money.
Amazing food! The ambience is rustic and a bit dated, but comfortable. The service very good. We took their recommendation for the Alfredo sauce and in my 30 years of enjoying Italian cooking, theirs was the absolute best Alfredo sauce I have ever had in my life. The appetizer, salad and lamb shank were also well-above-average. Limited wine list, but includes all the varietals you'd expect and all reasonably priced. Great value. Great service. ...and truly impressive food. A surprising find.
We LOVE this friendly neighborhood restaurant. The ambiance is a cross between a super club and a neighborhood bar. The waitstaff is excellent and so nice. The food is excellent. You get a full meal with veggies and pasta, plus a salad so you are not staring at a plate with a lonely entree. Carrot cake for dessert is a winner.
First time at Washington Gardens....and was very pleased! My brother and brother in law joined me and all of us were very happy with the staff, the food and drinks. We were able to sit and catch up with each other without feeling we had to rush out after eating. I'll be coming back soon - I live in Highwood - and can't wait to try other dishes there.
Thanks, WG for a great experience!
Caught them on a busy night....no problem. But our waitress, a nice woman, just couldn't remember everything. had to ask several times for things. and she wanted to talk about her aches and pains and life a lot. Sad.....but not what you go there for. very very old people and they are all deaf and very loud! be prepared
