Alexandre & Fils
Opened in 1977, Alexandre et Fils is a typical Parisian Brasserie in the heart of downtown Montreal. Located just an 8 minute walk from the Bell Center, our bistro welcomes you 7 days a week, open until 3am. Our specialty dishes are sauerkraut, cassoulet, duck confit, foie gras, steak tartare, French onion soup, lobster and boudin. To end your evening or continue an afternoon of reflection, the Cigar Lounge awaits you upstairs. "

Toujours aussi bon avec un excellent service......
The food, the service always good.
Best tartare in Montreal..........
Toujours aussi bon
Absolutely horrible experience, old mayonnaise, old bread, everything was insipid .....high price though

Very good as usual. Always a treat.
Thierry was a great waiter, his service, suggestions and sense of humour made for a great evening!
We will be coming back.
It is always enjoyable to have dinner there. We have been going there for 40 years. Never disappointed.
This was not our first time here but because of the great food and service we came back! Very French and everything was exceptional!
Tres comfortable et sympa. Bonne cuisine. Le service etait excellent
We went on Wed 13 Nov 2019 which is the last day of Mtl a table special menu and when we tried to order this special menu, they informed us that they decided to end it a day earlier and no more applicable..
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE , I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE NOR GO AGAIN.. GOOD LUCK being in Business with such actions!
We fell into one of those black holes that make for a 52-minute wait between being seated and being served. The food was alright and server gave us a free dessert, but there’s no getting past remarkably slow service.
We were a group of 7 people and did the MtlaTable menu and we were disappointed with the food. The Lamb dish has no taste and dry. The entree was not appealing nor tasty.
We did not vibe with the ambiance either. It was quiet and too bright. What we read online about this place was not well described.
Also across from us there were tables of girls that dress inappropriate. We did not appreciate it at all.
We were visiting from out of town and found this place. I would describe it as eclectic and very popular with a diverse and fun crowd. It seemed like a lot of the clients were regular customers. The wait staff was excellent. They were helpful in suggesting items and explaining some of the menu items. The food was excellent. I would definitely go back again.
Impeccable customer service. The nicoise salad was just perfect.
Excellent. Great wine selection, food was perfectly prepared. Presentation a bit lackluster. But I am not big on that.
Absolutely enjoyable with a deliberately quirky atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, with well-prepared cuisine. Was recommended by the concierge at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth when we asked for a restaurant that would be open on l’action de grace. An easy 5 minute walk from the Fairmont. We dropped in the night before for dinner and then again for the holiday turkey dinner. Our waiter remembered us from the first visit and was most engaging. We appreciated the interactions. Extensive murals of early Quebec scenes are a backdrop to dark wood, leather and brass booths, and contrast interestingly with the plastic gold and red “ice cream cones” supplied by a champagne marketer. Outdoor seating street side is available as is a second floor that may be the cigar bar for the facility - no one was smoking while we were there. All together well worth more than the two visits we afforded the restaurant. Glad to have gotten the recommendation.
One of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten in montreal. The service was slow and shoddy. Mistakes made with drink orders that took forever to arrive. The gaspacho tasted like someone opened a can of tomato soup and dumped it in a bowl. The rest of the meals were also subpar. One person didn’t order an appetizer and they served him his main course with everyone else’s app. The server embarrassed à European guest by coming up to him and admonishing him that tips weren’t included. That could have been handled much better and more discreetly. Based on the quality of service, no tip was necessary anyway.
The raw oysters had broken shell bits and weren't shucked properly.. tartare only came with one small toast, in comparison to other restaurants serving a couple from the beginning. I waited quite a while to get the waiter's attention to bring more, meanwhile there were only 2 other small tables being occupied. No water was put on the table at the start. Didn't offer fresh pepper when the meal came. C'mon... this is basic service. I expected more for the price.
Food was ok
French fries to go with meal would have been nice hot rather than cold
Steak was hood as was the fish
Waiter needs some training as he brought us the bill as soon as we had finished eating
And had to tell him we would like dessert and coffee
Coffee being served cold and had to send it back
I was most disappointed as these were close friends from England visiting me and, I had always thought Alexander’s was great to take people
We reserved a table during the NBA Playoffs game between the Raptors and the Warriors - it was a packed house of course. The servers worked quickly as always and managed to keep our table happy regardless of the busy, noisy atmosphere. The food is good bar food, nothing to write home about (I'm obsessed with chicken wings and had a friend from Buffalo with me, and neither of us were impressed with the wings). Maybe the quality suffered a little that night due to the extra crowd. Nothing bad, nothing great either; the drinks were well-made and overall we had a fun time.
Terrible. For the Grand prix it was overwhelmed with angry staff who were overworked.
I know it was the Thursday before Grand Prix but they wanted us to buy a bottle of champagne if we wanted to sit outside and no regular menu but at least 20% inflated much smaller menu. Prices jacked up too much. Should have been told that on these days there would be special pricing. But lovely servers and great service.
Service impeccable, nourriture excellente ! Tout était parfait.
Very welcoming with classic good brassiere food.
Everything was exceptional, but there was no coat check (was surprised) and they did not offer the wine card.
Very authentic french bistro. We enjoyed it very much. Reminded us of bistros in France. The desert a Chocolate Fondant was amazing
