Alexandra's at Turf Valley Ratings and Reviews
Great for our anniversary dinner. Every staff member greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary" and made us feel special. The only odd thing was that it took a long time to get our drinks. Half way through dinner my husband ordered another beer, our waiter said that they had Stella at the bar upstairs but not downstairs. My husband chose something else and that took a really long time to deliver. He was finally told that they needed to tap a second keg and did he want to wait. Our meal was complete so he declined. Our waiter made up for it and brought us complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Even thought the drinks were slow to arrive - it was a special evening.
Let me first say that this restaurant has GREAT food. This was our second visit. The Angus Sliders are sinfully delicious. My NY Strip was perfect. My wife's entree was exquisite. That is what went well.
Now, here is the rest of the story. We arrived at 4:15 pm for an early Sunday dinner but was told that the dinner menu was not available until 5 pm. There was only one table with customers at that time. Since we really wanted the dinner menu, we agreed to return at 5 pm. Upon our return, we were seated right away as there was NO ONE else dining. After taking our drink order, there was an inordinate wait time until someone returned to take our food order. There were no featured menu items noted, as in our previous visit. We were asked for our entrees without the offer of an appetizer, which we really wanted (the sliders). We were able to order the appetizer after the entree order. About 5 minutes later, bread and olive oil was brought to the table. The bread was cold. After enjoying our appetizers, the entrees were served. As I said earlier, my steak was perfect except for the blob of ICE COLD garlic butter which sat prominently on top of it. Needless to say, the quality of the service was lacking.
This experience made us wonder whether there was something occurring with this establishment that was not known to us. Throughout our entire stay, NO ONE else showed up. We were the only diners.
Not sure if it makes sense to try dining here again. Maybe if they have carry-out.
We took the family for Sunday brunch, which I had heard was excellent. However, for the most part we were disappointed. The service was lousy (we were never offered refills on drinks and I went over several times to refill coffee since the waitress was never around), the french toast was cold and hard, bacon was cold, and the bread pudding was overcooked, burned and dry. Not worth the price!
We had Sunday Brunch and it was delightful. We had requested a table by the window and that’s what we got, with a lovely view of the all of the landscaping and the golf course. There was a Halloween theme throughout, even in naming the various dishes. Quite creative! The food was very good, especially the omelette bar. Our server was excellent. Attentive but not overbearing! We will definitely be back and recommend to friends!
The food was good but overpriced. The restaurant was in a lower area beneath an atrium and there was an infant who was screaming the entire time in the atrium area and it echoed very loudly into the restaurant. The infant was not with anyone in the restaurant but with someone staying at the connected hotel. Annoying to pay that much to have to listen to that the entire meal--and I have 3 kids so I am used to noise.
Live music was pretty good but the acoustics are terrible. Ended up drowning out our conversation. My cocktail was great although not exactly what I was expecting. My date's was pretty bad. Bartender didn't have the right ingredients and just winged it. This was a HoCo go-to place I always wanted to try. I wasn't disappointed but probably won't be back.
We first enjoyed cocktails in the lounge. The bar tender was friendly and made great martini's. The musical duo was very good, playing a varied and familiar song list.
Our dinner was excellent. Lauren took very good care of us, and was both pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu offerings. Our filet mignons were perfectly prepared, tender and delicious. The petite wedge salads were great bargain extras. My wife enjoyed the delicious ratatouille with her steak. My frites were some of the best I can remember.
The prime rib was delicious and other food choices looked really good except for the bagels which were hard and tasteless. It would be nice if they had cream cheese next to the smoked salmon. It has to be asked for by the wait staff.
It was not busy when we came but the service was not good. Used plates were not taken away and it took a long time for the wait staff to refill water glasses .
the food was dry and unappealing. fish smelled like it was frozen, thawed, then frozen again. Steak was tough and chewy and lacking in any seasoning. Dessert was horrific, obviously was frozen for many days (if not weeks) then served. The entire experience was only bearable by consuming prodigious amounts of alcohol before, during, and after the meal. Wait staff was bored, didn't come back to check on us, seemed to be more interested in texting/updating facebook than working. Also seemed more concerned about hooking up with others (it was a Saturday night I guess!). overall, unless you really, really, really enjoy golf, this place isn't a restaurant for a night out.
We came for my wife's birthday and it was a nice venue to celebrate. They also had specials for teachers, which was nice. My in-laws ordered steaks that came out over/undercooked 3 times. After the third time, we didn't bother to send it back. Our waiter was very attentive and the manager responded well. The food that was cooked properly was very good.
Rarely do breakfast but we met friends - the service was excellent - Jen was moving around the room doing her wonderful professional thing!!! Can get crowded quickly and breakfast can be a full service with coffee refills and stuff..
Food excellent - Rita - not sure if she was there but we have enjoyed her daily expert cooking -
Finally Jessica - moving to make sure all guests are comfortable - hard working professional hostess.........
Thanks to Alexandras for making a very nice breakfast experience - MAKE SURE JEN AND RITA AND JESSICA GET THE COMPLIMENTS - VERY IMPORTANT IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY - LETTRICH
We have been here many times before, and every time it gets worse...from the food to the service. The place was not busy at all but the service was incredibly slow and the food was marginal...even barely warm once it arrived after an hour. Used to be a hit, now a miss....will not return anytime soon.
The sliders for our app were so good, it made me want to get a burger for my meal. However, the soft shell crabs swayed me. They were fresh, made well, and had a fabulous Andouille hash paired with them. My chocolate lava cake dessert with salted caramel ice cream was by far the best thing I ate and probably one of my top 5 desserts I've ever had. Wine and beer list could be a little better. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back...just wish it wasn't so far away from our house.
Stayed at the Turf Valley Resort for a girl's weekend. Ended up eating 4 meals there. Food was fabulous and the happy hour prices were great! View of the golf course was superb. Loved the live music on the weekend and at Sunday Brunch. Already planning a return visit.
We specifically went for the Wagyu burgers which are always delicious. Unfortunately, they were not cooked to the temperatures we requested. The side of sweet potato fries first came out limp and then burned (and still limp) on second try. The side was replaced with cole slaw when the fries were sent back.
My coworkers and I were here for a work event - which the restaurant knew in advance. They were understaffed and we were told more than once that "our food would be right out" or "we're just a little behind".. our meals consisted of soups, salads, and sandwiches.. after an hour and a half we got the food. Food was good, but the service was phony and we were lied to. Don't go here if you have somewhere to be.. we missed parts of what we were at the resort for because we kept being told "only a few more minutes".. food was comped, which was good on their part - but still wouldn't recommend for overall experience
When I made the reservation it said they served breakfast from 7-11am daily and they had a breakfast menu listed online but upon arriving I was told it's only a breakfast buffet. That would've made me leave but there were no other breakfast options around and I was on a time limit. The worst part though was that the buffet food was cold and for what they had available it was overpriced. Definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others and won't be back!
Yesterday was a disappointment! I have been a loyal customer for many years and always look forward to going to brunch, BUT - this time, they seemed to be shorthanded, there was no bread/rolls/bagels, the music was WAY too loud. The food, as always, was very good so I'll definitely come back, but I hope Alexandra's will maintain it's usual high quality.
Sunday brunch reasonably priced, but I was very disappointed for a few reasons. The old bay shrimp tasted of nothing but salt. The corn beef and cabbage was bland. The food from the buffet was not that hot, and finally, the food just didn't have a great taste. On the upside, the service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
