Alexandra's at Turf Valley Ratings and Reviews
Everything is good except I mainly considered there because of the live band over dinner which what the calendar event says. But when we got there there was no live band, there was no announcement of changed til we got there. It was kinda dissappointing. Other than that, service, food and ambiance are descent.
First time at Alexandra's came for brunch and had a delicious relaxing experience. Staff was friendly & very professional - good choice of proteins for brunch not lots of filler items. Little details like bringing us warm napkins to tidy up after eating the delicious shrimp were appreciated would recommend & definitely return. Only con the room can get loud due to the high ceiling but the guitar music helped mute that effect.
I have had lunch at this restaurant a number of times & really enjoyed it. This was my first time there for dinner & for the other 3 in my party. The food was excellent, but there must have been some type of problem or mix-up in the kitchen. Our waiter brought our wine & drinks immediately after we ordered them. Our appetizers arrived promptly too. Then we waited a good 45 minutes for our entrees to be delivered. The waiter apologized for the long delay & even brought us a round of drinks on the house (nice touch). Two in our party ordered dessert & those too took a bit of time to be delivered. We had a 6:00 pm reservation & barely got out the door by 8:15 pm.
Service was prompt and non intrusive. All personnel interactions were very respectful. I should have asked for my salad dressing to be on the side as I don't like much dressing and my Greek salad was bathed in dressing but everything else was delicious. The portions were just right.
Nice selection of breakfast food and lunch dishes. Omelet station had a good selection and the chef was friendly. Music a bit loud. We come every year for a family birthday celebration and the birthday girl likes it a lot. food is OK - but not spectacular, Guess it's hard with a buffet to keep things hot
A small group of retired professional women met for lunch. Most came from northern Baltimore County & were very pleased with the decor, view & menu. Choices ranged from the crab cake to burger, to salmon to the fish & chips. Each person was very satisfied with their selection. The menu is varied. Most luncheon menus are routine. We shall return.
Chef Chris has done it again - broke out the winter menu - just full of wonderful and healthy choices - comfort too!!!!!!!
Excellent service always from the veterans - Eric is attentive and caring - makes you feel like the restaurant is happy you are there!!! Thanks to Eric!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I wanted to spend quality time with each other, and this place was perfect for it. We were seated very quickly and served. The food was DELICIOUS! The waiter and staff were excellent. I recommend everyone to come and enjoy this place. My wife and I look forward to coming back soon.
Our dining experience was very good. The food was very tasty, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. The crab cakes were the best I think I've ever eaten and were all chunk crab with no filler. The Maryland crab soup was exceptional and full of lump crab. Everyone in our party raved about their dinners. I would definitely recommend Alexandra's and will be back.
The food and the service was excellent. Of course it was a bit pricey but it was New Year's Eve.
We were seated in a back room off the main dining room, which was good because the piano was ultra-loud. We go out for pleasant conversation, never for the intrusive "background" music. Being seated in the back room muted the piano somewhat. However, some klutz didn't bother to turn off the regular background music, so in piano lulls, you could hear the other music. Not good.
Also, in the back room, the lighting was harsh, especially the track lighting (terrible idea) which is like sitting under a spotlight. Also gave the room the cold feeling of a bar when all the lights are on for the cleaning crew. I suggest changing the lighting to a more mellow glow. I resent casting over-loud junk music as "energetic."
We were there for lunch one day and it was very pleasant. Background music was soft and unintrusive, food was good, service excellent. We enjoyed it and that's why we came back for dinner.
We are fortunate to be able to dine at Alexandras on a regular basis - which makes it all the more relevant that the quality of the cuisine with Chef Chris and the fine service from young people like Nick, Eric, Jen, Gail and Stephanie and others happens every day - We especially want to mention the hostess - Jessica - consistently welcoming and very pro-active in her work - a true asset for the restaurant!!!!
thanks to all - carol and PJ
This was definitely a good value because Alexandra's was having a special - half price for all food items. My husband and I shared a Greek salad which was excellent. He got a Kent Island pot pie which he loved. I got crab cakes which were basically all lump. We had to ask to have our water refilled, but once we'd made that request, it was refilled routinely. Were it not for the special, prices would be very high. We would normally spend that much only for a special occasion.
We always enjoy dinner at Alexandra's. This evening was particularly exciting because all of the food was 50% off. Of course, we took advantage of the special and had a multi-course meal: Maryland crab soup, Caesar salad, crab cakes, and cannolis for desert.
Although it was all good, the crab cakes were exceptional.
My group of 5 ladies was very disappointed. Minimum of 20-30 minute wait for omlet. The line was10-15 long unfortunately no other egg product option. There were no labels to describe items in warmers. Wait service was weak. We needed to ask for water then coffee then napkins and for any drink refills. The bagels/cocktail sauce were empty and took too long to fill. My table did request to speak with manager and we had healthy conversation about our dissappointments and future expectations. You definitely need an egg option in warm or possibility for eggs Benedict from the kitchen. The food was very good but other items over powered the disappointments. Thanks for asking
We went for Sunday brunch. The variety of food available is outstanding – for both breakfast and lunch options. The cost is a little high for a brunch, but then…. there is that large number of items to choose from. So, you *can* get your money’s worth if you eat a lot. lol. The food is pretty good for a brunch, though some of our choices were on the warm, rather than hot, side. The service was good – attentive without being overbearing. The view of the golf course and the pond with the fountain is pretty cool.
This was our first visit to Alexandra's at Turf Valley. The food was very good, but the service...ummm...not as good. Our server seemed a little distracted at times and disappeared often. My husband ordered a salad and I ordered the Cream of Crab soup (which was outstanding). My soup was brought to the table (not by our server) so we asked the person who brought the soup about the salad and he said he would check...nothing. Ten minutes passed before we saw our server again, and asked him about the salad. He said he would check on it...ten minutes later he returned with the salad, apologized and said we would not be charged for the salad...ok. The Greek salad was large and a work of art...unfortunately, our entrees were delivered about 2 minutes after the salad. By the time my husband was able to get to his entree, it had significantly cooled, but he said it had very good flavor - would've been better hot. We will definitely try it again, since the food was delicious - hope for better service next time.
