Alexander's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
I chose this restaurant because we were going to the Vagabond Theatre and wanted someplace in easy walking distance. It was our first time there. My husband and our guest had tuna, which my husband thought was very good—he is picky usually. I had the Cubano panini, which was also very good. We all had roasted Brussels sprouts.
The server found a dark beer for my guest and myself that complimented our meal. After dinner coffee was good too. In all it was very positive. The desserts looked good but we were already full.
We arrived early and it was very quiet. The noise level grew as more patrons were seated, as one would expect.
This was my second time eating at Alexander's Tavern. It is casual and friendly with a variety of sandwiches. It is located in Fells Point in Baltimore and it is convenient to the Vagabond Theater where we were going afterwards. The food and service are good.
Went to AT for brunch. Main courses were very good as usual. However, two of our groups's sides were delivered cold. They were remade and delivered warmer than before, but oddly still not hot. That is why the food got 3 stars. Usually it is four stars. Service was slow and water was not refilled even after asking. Had to make a second request, so service got lower stars for that. And it was not busy, so I am unsure what was going on with the service. I still recommend AT, I think this was a blip.
Service was a bit slow (our drinks came after our food) and unfortunately, the server couldn't answer a couple questions we had about the menu. That being said...the food was very good! The rest of the staff, including the manager were very accommodating and we will be back!
Very good food and service. Especially appreciated the separate gluten free menu for my daughter with celiac. Too many places claim they have gluten free options, but they mean you can have a salad or a burger without the bun. Alexander's had a very good selection. The regular menu was very good also. Will definitely return.
Had Mother's Day Brunch and really enjoyed the food and drinks. There was a large party nearby our table so it was louder than it probably is at other times. Went to the bar side afterwards and enjoyed the drinks there. Bartender was a little slow in taking our drink order, but overall, we had a great time and I would definitely go back. Lot of things on the menu I'd like to try.
It was wonderful to have so many gluten-free options in a menu that initially did not appear gluten-free friendly. The service was slow at times, the ambience is okay but not great, and the food was fine but not note worthy. Good for a casual meal for those needing to eat gluten free.
We went here for a friend'a bachelorette party because the bride and a bridesmaid both have the gluten allergy. The waitress was super accommodating. Alexander's Tavern keeps a whole separate fryer and works station to prepare the food so we had no worries of cross contamination. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Tots were fantastic!!
We reserved a table for 8, the tavern was easily accommodating. The service was a bit slow, which (if you're a large party and in a hurry) can be frustrating. The food was not spectacular, but the appetizers (Tot-chos? I see what you did there.) were stellar. There was no pressure from the waitstaff, we stayed for a good long while and had a pleasant time. Thanks again!
Our visit did not start off real well. We had a reservation for two and when we arrived, the only table available was shoved in a corner that was very difficult to even get into. Other people were right up against the table. So, we ate the bar. Food was excellent. I would recommend that the pizza we had for restaurant week be included on the regular menu. It was delicious. We were told that it is "not " on the regular menu. It should be. Bar tender was good.
